Okay, I chose to make a fic that involves Cadpig hosting a dating show called Baggage. Now, Baggage is an actual dating show hosted by Jerry Springer where people try to get a date by opening suitcases to reveal their secrets. In this fic, Cloudy will meet three girls his age and take a look at their baggage and listen to their explanations in order to choose which girl he wanted to go out on a date with. But Cloudy has a secret hidden inside a red bag, and the girl he chose will choose whether she wants to go out with him (by saying "I can accept your baggage") or turn him down (by saying "you have too much baggage") after seeing Cloudy's secret. Here's part one of the fic with Cadpig as the host.
***
In a room off stage, a teenage male Dalmatian stands behind a podium with a red suitcase on it. The Dalmatian has a white cloud-shaped spot on each black ear and wears a black t-shirt, a pair of jeans, and a pair of gray shoes.
"This is Cloudy," said Cadpig's voice, "and he's got a secret hidden inside that red bag. Did he get kicked out of a restaurant for starting a food fight? Did he take a dare to strip at school? Did he push his sister's wheelchair off a cliff? We'll open up that bag and a whole lot more, coming up on Baggage!"
The audience applauded, and then the show's theme music starts playing. As the theme music plays, a sequence of people carrying and wheeling their suitcases around a city at night is shown. During the sequence, the following phrases were shown: "Everybody has secrets", "I live with my ex", "I have two shrinks", and "What's your baggage?" The sequence ended after the hands of a woman opens up a suitcase, which reveals the Baggage logo. The screen then flashes to the set of the show, with Cadpig standing in the center and the audience cheering and applauding.
"Hello, everybody, and welcome to Baggage!" said Cadpig. "I'm Cadpig Dearly, and we have a guy in the back looking for a date. He has never had a girlfriend in his life; every girl he asked had turned him down. Hopefully, he'll finally end up having a date by the end of the show. Besides girls, he likes skateboarding. Let's give a big welcome to Cloudy!"
The audience cheered and applauded again as Cloudy enters the set and meets Cadpig in the center.
"Hello, Cloudy, welcome to the show," said Cadpig, shaking Cloudy's hand.
"Thank you, Cadpig," said Cloudy.
"So, I've heard that you've been having bad luck when it comes to asking a girl out, and you've just had enough of being turned down."
"Yeah. I am very fed up with hearing girls say 'no' to me when I ask them out. They always hit me and dump stuff all over me, too, and I'm sick of all that happening to me."
"Well, all that could change. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. Now, what kind of girl are you looking for?"
"I am looking for one who is very cute, loves to be with me, and won't say 'no' or do anything bad to me when I ask her to go on a date with me."
"Well, Cloudy, we have three very cute girls who would love to be with you. And who knows? The girl you'll choose might say 'yes' after she sees your baggage if you ask her out. But these girls have baggage, too. So, before we can look at your baggage, we have to look at theirs. Are you ready to meet them?"
"Yes, I am."
"All right. She's from Butler, Pennsylvania, and she wants to be a teacher. Say hello to Hannah!"
The audience applauded when the first girl came on the right side of the set, where there are three small suitcases and three medium-sized ones placed on podiums. The first girl wheeled a large suitcase to the first small and medium-sized suitcases. She has random spots on her arms and legs and wears a yellow dress and a pair of yellow heels.
"Hi, Cloudy," said Hannah. "I'm Hannah, and I love to read romance novels, take long walks, and play croquet. You look like a very lonely guy who is looking for a beautiful girl who would want to be with you. Well, I've been very lonely for a long time, and I'm looking for a handsome guy who would want to be with me. If you pick me, then I'll be the happiest girl in the world, and you and I will never be lonely again."
The audience applauded after Hannah's introduction.
"Sounds like she's the right girl for you," Cadpig said to Cloudy.
"Sure does," said Cloudy.
"Up next, she's from Tampa, Florida, and she wants to be a waitress. Let's give a big hand to Rochelle!"
The audience applauded when the second girl came on the set and wheeled a large suitcase to the next small and medium-sized suitcases. She has two spots on each ear and wears a light blue shirt, a pink skirt, and a pair of red heels.
"Hello, Cloudy," said Rochelle. "My name is Rochelle. When I'm not at school, I like to go to the skatepark and go in-line skating. Since you like skateboarding, you and I could spend every single day skating together--that is, if you pick me."
The audience applauded after Rochelle's introduction.
"Today must be your lucky day, Cloudy," said Cadpig.
"I know," said Cloudy, grinning at the two girls. "One of these girls has been very lonely for so long like I have, and the other likes to go skating like I do. Wonder what the third girl is like?"
"We're about to find out right now. Finally, she's from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and she wants to be an ecologist. Give it up for Annalyn!"
The audience applauded when the third girl came on the set and wheeled a large suitcase to the last small and medium-sized suitcases. She has two spots on the left side of her neck and four spots randomly placed on each arm, and wears a pink spaghetti-strap tank top, a pair of purple tartan capris, and a pair of black moccasin loafers.
"Hey, Cloudy," said Annalyn. "My name is Annalyn, and I love the outdoors. I like to play badminton, ride my bicycle, and go camping. Pick me, and I'll make the world a more beautiful place for you."
The audience applauded after Annalyn's introduction.
"Gotta love a girl who loves the outdoors," Cloudy said to Cadpig.
"Yeah, otherwise you wouldn't think about skateboarding in the first place," said Cadpig. "You may get to ride your skateboard alongside her as she rides her bike if you choose her."
"That would be cool."
"Now, as you can see, these girls each got a small bag, a medium-sized bag, and a large bag. All those bags are filled with the girls' personal secrets, which we like to call baggage. And, of course, the bigger the bag, the bigger the baggage. This would help Cloudy decide which girl he wants to go on a date with. And now, it's time for the girls to reveal their smallest piece of baggage."
The audience cheered and applauded. The three girls are ready to open their small suitcases.
"Hannah," said Cadpig, "open your small bag."
Hannah opened her small suitcase to reveal this secret:
The audience let out soft groans when they saw that secret.
"'I spent all my allowance on children's books for the past six months'," Cadpig read aloud.
"Children's books?" Cloudy asked Hannah. "Why? Do you have any little brothers and sisters and you're trying to help them learn how to read?"
"That may be it," said Cadpig. "Let's find out." She turned to Hannah. "Hannah, explain."
"Well, first of all, I don't have any brothers and sisters at all," Hannah explained. "I'm an only child. Second, I've been buying children's books because I do some volunteer work at a community center everyday after school. What I do is take those books to the community center and help children learn how to read."
Loud applause came from the audience after Hannah explained her small baggage.
"Oh, okay," said Cloudy. "Now, it makes sense. I mean, Cadpig did tell me that you want to become a teacher."
"I do, Cloudy. I want to be an elementary school teacher. Reading has always been my favorite subject, and that's exactly what I want to teach to children."
"That's very good," said Cadpig as the audience applauded. "I did say to Cloudy that you want to be a teacher, but it really interests me that a girl like you would spend all your money on children's books to help kids learn to read." She turned to Rochelle. "Rochelle, open your small bag."
Rochelle opened her small suitcase, which reveals this secret:
Seeing that secret caused the audience to let out groans that sound a little louder than they were when Hannah's secret in her small suitcase was revealed.
"'I never leave home without my sock puppet'," Cadpig read aloud.
"That's so childish!" said Cloudy, laughing at Rochelle.
"Maybe she likes to entertain children with it," said Cadpig, and she turned to Rochelle. "Rochelle, why do you bring a sock puppet with you everywhere you go?"
"I barely socialize with others my age, so I didn't make any real friends," Rochelle explained. "When I was six years old, I made sock puppets with my aunt. I made one of those sock puppets a very special friend of mine the day I made it, and I always talk to it when I have any problems."
There is a mix of chuckles and soft groans coming from the audience after Rochelle explained her small baggage.
"You still have it now, do you?" Cloudy asked Rochelle.
"I sure do, Cloudy," said Rochelle, "and I brought it with me right here in the studio."
"May we see it, please?" Cadpig asked Rochelle.
"Sure," said Rochelle, and she picked up a sock puppet from behind her medium-sized suitcase.
The audience applauded loudly when Rochelle showed her sock puppet to everyone in the studio. It is a long, white sock with two navy blue buttons for eyes and red yarn for hair glued to it.
"So, there it is, ladies and gentlemen," Cadpig said to the audience, and she turned to Rochelle again. "What name do you give your sock puppet, Rochelle?"
"I named him Buddy," said Rochelle as she slipped her sock puppet on her right arm. "I was thinking that you all would like to meet him."
"Yeah!" the audience roared.
"Okay," said Rochelle, and she held out her right arm in front of her face, spoke in falsetto without moving her mouth, and moved the sock puppet's mouth open and shut to make it look like it is talking. "'Hello, Cloudy! My name is Buddy! I am so happy to meet someone who might go out on a date with my best friend, Rochelle! Nice to meet you!'"
The audience cheered and applauded loudly after Rochelle played with her sock puppet.
"Hey, nice to meet you, too, Buddy!" Cloudy said to the sock puppet.
"Okay, now that we've met Buddy," said Cadpig, "We can now take a look at the last small bag." She turned to Annalyn. "Annalyn?"
Annalyn opened her small suitcase, revealing this secret:
There is mix of groans and applause coming from the audience when that secret was shown.
"'I am a horrible singer'," Cadpig read aloud.
"Are you really that bad at singing?" Cloudy asked Annalyn.
"Annalyn, I hope you're not just saying you're a horrible singer because other people said you are," said Cadpig.
"No, Cadpig, no one ever said that to me," said Annalyn. "I knew right away that I am horrible at singing when I first tried it. When I sing, my voice cracks, I go off key, and I sometimes forget the lyrics or just get them wrong."
"Well, that is terrible. Can you give us just one little demonstration of your singing?"
"Okay," said Annalyn, and she took a deep breath and sang one long note, her voice cracking as she does this. "Laaaaaaaaaa!"
Cadpig, Cloudy, Hannah, and Rochelle exchanged looks to each other as they winced at the sound of Annalyn's cracked singing voice. The second Annalyn stops singing the note, an awkward applause is heard from the audience.
"Okay," said Cadpig, "well, there's one good thing I have to say about that. And it is that she was really honest about what she said about her singing."
The audience responded to what Cadpig just said about Annalyn's cracked singing voice with light laughter. When the audience fell silent, the show's theme music starts playing again.
"Now, Cloudy, you've seen these girls' baggage and heard their explanations. When we come back, it'll be time for our dealbreaker round, where we get to see the secrets inside the medium-sized bags. Don't go away."
The audience cheered and applauded, and the show goes into its first commercial break after the screen flashed back to its logo, with the woman's hands closing the suitcase.
