This is a continuation of my other story "The Oncoming Storm"
This chapter is a tad bit gorey than my other stories.
Enjoy
Three weeks had passed since the Amber incident and since then Clayton hadn’t been able to get what Amber said off his mind. Skulls and Red Eyes, what did mean? Was she just hallucinating from loss of blood or was it something more than that? In his nightmares; Clayton tried to piece an image of what creature she might have been describing, but he only found the monsters from his imagination.
One night; the weather was bad, the rain came down as hard and heavy as it did from three weeks back. The pups sat in the barn casually did whilst being condemned to the inside; some watched the telly, some played catch the chew toy, and some just slept on top of hay bails. As usual when stuck in doors; Clayton and Kendra had no choice but be forced to listen to Doc’s stories, the two leaned against the wall trying their best to look interested and to keep awake (without much success).
Clayton had his eye lids half closed and was about to fall asleep, but then looked to his side and something caught his eye, in one dark corner of the barn; the same pup he tried to communicate with three weeks back, except that this time; they appeared to look like they were in a state of agony and their body was twitching faster than Fidget. This continued on for a couple of seconds before collapsing onto the floor. Clayton stood up from the wall and rushed over to the pup, as he reached them; the pup instantly got up and sniffed the air. “You OK?” Clayton asked, but he only got a snarl back “What you want?” the pup growled in a deep dark voice, Clayton took one step back before asking again, “I was just wondering if you were feeling alright?” he said, the pup snorted back “I’m fine.” He said before saying “Be off with you, go try some gargantuan effort to do something with your sad little life.” The pup walked away from Clayton and stepped into the crowd, “I was only trying to be nice.” Clayton muttered under the tone of his breath.
“Oi!” Clayton turned, Doc had noticed that he was gone and was now calling him back; Clayton gave a sigh before sitting down next to Kendra again. Doc continued to talk on about his stories, until Clayton and completely fallen into a deep sleep.
He remained asleep for an hour or so before having something wake him up. Outside a bright flash of light struck and a terrific crash of thunder was heard, this made all the pups who were resting on the hay bail jump up and start running around all over the place, and then the electricity went out. The pus just stood in the dark; wondering what the devil was going on. The barn door then opened and a beam of light came into the room, Roger was wearing a rain jacket and next to him was standing his trusty dog; Pongo. He turned his head to look to the house and shouted “The electricity is gone in the barn too Anita!” Clayton was able to understand human so he was able to guess that the power was gone in the house as well. He looked over to Kendra and whispered “I think that were going to have an early night.”
His guess was right, about half an hour later the pups were resting either on the floor or on top of hay bails and were dozing off into a long nights sleep. Clayton kept thinking about the new pup that insulted him, he eventually went to sleep and tried to piece Amber’s attacker in his dreams once again.
The next morning; everything seemed normal again. The electricity was working fully and the rain had seemed to of dried up pretty quickly. The puppies went on with their daily duties, Roger tried gaming programming again and Nanny did her chores.
Clayton was resting on the bank of Hiccup Hole; the river sparkled as the suns rays beamed down upon it. It was a pretty sight, almost makes you forget about everything else on your mind, this was just about to do this to Clayton before he heard a high girl pitched scream coming from close by, he got up and ran to the sound location.
When he got there, he found a small female pup, this one was the smallest Dalmatian of them all, people called her Cadpig, she was crying big tears that ran down her face and her face expression looked like that she be haunted for life.. “What happened!?” Clayton asked Cadpig, before looking in the direction Cadpig was in, a gasp and then shouted a few words that would give a movie an 18 rating. The sight was sickening, a small rabbit was lying on the ground in the same condition Amber was found in only this time its flesh was ripped open and its internal organs ran out of the tear. “That is just sick and wrong!” Clayton spat out before asking Cadpig how she found it. Cadpig sniffed she couldn’t say anything but was able to summon a few words, “Well…I was just innocently meditating…when I saw some figure in the bushes…I went to see if it was someone spying on me…when I found THIS!”
Clayton looked down on the deceased rabbit (something he really regretted) and then spoke to Cadpig once more “Cadpig, look in my eyes. I promise you that I will find whoever did this and they shall be punished in the proper manner they deserve.”
He then wrapped Cadpigs arm around his shoulder and stood up before starting to carry her to the barn leaving the lifeless body of the rabbit behind.
In some nearer bushes, a black figure observed the scene; as their blood red eyes watched Clayton carry Cadpig away they gave a small smirk of the mouth and a quick lick from their blood coated teeth...
