I call bullsh*t. First off the article on the movie is up for deletion on Wikipedia. Secondly there has not been any press release from Disney as it relates to this film and finally this film is not on Disney's film schedule. Maybe the reason the plot is so similar to Ice Age 2 is it is a false rip-off.

I heard that a Madagascar 2 is coming out, but I've heard nothing of a Wild 2. I haven't seen either Madagascar or The Wild, and as much as I love Disney more than Dreamworks, I have to say that Madagascar looks more entertaining. I think making a sequel to Madagascar is a good idea, but making a sequel to The Wild is not.

Madagascar was an awesome movie and I heard the sequel is good too.
And yes, I agree that The Wild was just a rip-off from Madagascar. I hate movies that ripoff the plot of other movies, save for the Scary Movie movies.

Too bad most movies now are CGI.

The thing that really pissed me off about "The Wild" is not only did Disney rip off "Madagascar", but they also took out all the crazy humor!

Ugh this sounds horrible. I have never seen the first one and have no interest too.

I don't see too much about a Wild 2.
I remember some people accused Disney of taking a lot of the plot and such of The Lion King from a Japanese anime series called Kimba the White Lion, but I would say that was a mere coincidence considering Japanese anime was not as big during the early 1990s as it would become in the late 1990s.
With The Wild, I wouldn't call this similar like how Antz and A Bug's Life use similar themes. I think this is more how Capcom was towards Data East back in 1994 with the Street Fighter 2 vs. Fighter's History controversy.

I just finished reading some information on The Wild. It may have been that the movie was in production for a quite a long time, and I don't think the similarities were intentional. But even so it seemed like they put too much emphasis on making the animation look like something you would want to reach into the screen and touch instead of telling a story or making the characters identifiable.
Its box office numbers reflect nobody was crazy for it:
Madagascar - $193 million The Wild - $37 million

I didn't really get into Madagascar, mainly because of the way the characters looked and moved. No offence, but seeing a bipedic lion, hippo, and zebra looked really odd to me. Hmm, am I forgetting anyone?
