*growls at Oddy* Oi, Oi, Oi! If anyone's gonna quell any fights, s'gonna be me, yo.
Seriously, Perdita. Not a good mom. Not in my opinion. She's a -fair- mom, but I think Pongo has much more say in the matters when it comes to the pups. I mean, who's the one always struggling to count them? Yeah. So...no.
Perdita, gets 2 and a half stars for Mothering in my opinion.

Ehh...
She's never really been in my initial thoughts.
In the movie, she was a pretty good mother. Series wise, not as good. If she would have been as good as she was in the movie during the series, I think it would have been less adventurous adventures...=P

Then again in the series she was in the background as often as I was in the background, granted she would probably maul Cruella if she planned to use us again for a furcoat and have her flunkies try to pupnap all 99 of us again

Perdita is easily one of my favorite characters. I don't really have a reason, I just like her.

As I once stated, I would have loved seeing more exposure of the other characters alongside the four Main Pups. However, there would be two exceptions.
This is not saying I don't like them, but I honestly think it would have been best that Pongo and Perdita maintain background roles for the series.
Why, you ask? Well, the point of the series is to focus on the puppies. They would still hold their appeal, and subliminally send kids good messages. There is a reason why people still care about characters like Tom Sawyer and Nancy Drew: the fact that they are literary figures in that while they are children, for the most part, you don't really see their parents all the time. Everything the kids do, they have to learn about it themselves, from their actions and the characters they encounter. For the most part, whatever Lucky, Cadpig, Rolly and Spot did, they would eventually learn from their actions by the end of the episode. The fact they would do as such without their parents' endless preaching would send kids the message of why it's important to think for yourself.
Now, imagine Pongo and Perdita had a prominent role in 101 Dalmatians: the Series. Just before a beatdown is about to come up, suddenly Mom and Dad bolt in and give a lecture on why things should be done in a certain way. Then the beatdown is aborted and the kids take the advice of their parents.
That's just too much like it is in real life and the kids don't learn for themselves; why should they? After all, Mom and Dad are here and they will always jump in and spell out the message. Suddenly this isn't Huckleberry Finn as much as it is The Berenstein Bears.
Again, just my thoughts.

I feel like bringing this topic up because I noticed that a lot of the board members have different depictions on how they view Perdita. Much like how the guys at Termite Terrace have different depictions of Bugs Bunny.
Trey_Vore views her as a worried mother who loves her husband and is always happy whenever they're together or when she knows her puppies are safe.
gameshowpup views her as a spoiled brat who always wants to get her way.
I view her as a trusty companion and really good friend to Pongo who loves him as much as he loves her and is always willing to do anything with him (especially if it involves saving their puppies).
I think that sounds about right; I'm interested in hearing how other people view this character.

Okay, just because I made Perdita act like a spoiled brat on just a small couple sets of screenshots in my captions thread doesn't mean I actually view her as one. I usually view her as a kind and caring mother who is just looking for a little respect from her children. I even view her as a firm mother and wife when it comes to disciplining Pongo and their children if and when she heard any of them use foul language.

I've read all the posts in this thread and I got to say, I find a lot a humor, drama, and action here. Just like a live-action movie. Well, this is not the topic, we are discussing about Perdita so don't involve guns and AK-47's here. Just a bazooka. ;D See, what I mean, they got me too.
Anyway, Perdita is legally married to Pongo and in the series they are not? Well, people? This confuses me. Anyway, this is how I see it: The animation's sequel is not the series but it's Patch's London Adventure. The series features a completely different plot and events. (In some cases, characters have american accents, and etc.) So this kinda explains why Roger and Anita find out that they were not legally married in the finale. (How can you be married illegally?) But, as Race fan X said "However, most dogs don't get married with a human preacher", is true. Dogs don't need a human preacher to get married. It is their nature. If they want to get married, then presto, they're married. Enough with that.
Perdita, perdita, perdita, So, what do I think about Perdita? In the animated film, she's a great mom. She always looks out for her pups more than anything else. When her litter is stolen, it's like her world shattered. And she never hesitated to go and do what it takes to find them (which she did eventually) In the series, not so great. (though the writers are to blame because they gave her a very minor role) But I gotta say, having 101 pups is not an easy job. It's not just a walk in a park. Go out and look for a dog mom that has 101 pups. Not too many eh? She is a one-of-a-kind wonder mom. Period. Well, that's that.

Well, In the Series they note that their Wedding was done by a Con Man, so that's why they weren't legally married, if that is what you mean, 101DW. It was a pity that she was demoted to extra in the Series, however whenever she did get some limelight, she successfully entertained. Like her & Pongo in "Splishing & Splashing". ;3 About the Series and 'Patch's London Adventure', you should see the stuff we do that justify any alternate interpretation into the franchise. Race even tried explaining why they live in America in his Fic, "London Calling" (which is worth a read, although read "Eyes of the Beholder" first.) Still, I like the character of Perdita. She is definately a caring Mother and the Pups are lucky to have her. Any of you heard her song from the Musical? www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFYDNKYogwU
