babclayman: I don't think you read my post carefully enough. I did not say in any way, shape or form that I didn't respect your opinion! I was just saying that your opinion was not the only one that matters. @trey: What about the Genesis version?

Weird thing that I noticed is that there are two video game companies that are "married" to Disney: Capcom and Virgin. In case you haven't noticed, in the mid-90's, Virgin was making video games based on the animated Disney movies including "The Lion King", while in the early 90's, Capcom was making games based on the Disney Afternoon TV shows. But I digress.

I felt like sharing this with you guys:
James Rolfe claims "Back to the Future" to be one of his favorite movies of all time. He thinks that the movie should not just be reduced to 80's pop culture; it should be considered one of the greatest films of all time. I agree with him.
Now, in that statement above, I can say the same thing about "The Lion King". I think the film should be considered one of the greatest movies of all time. Considering how well it did in theaters, how popular it became, and how much of an impression it left on the world (myself included), it definately deserves to be up there with all the other greatest movies ever made along with "Back to the Future", "Star Wars", "The Wizard of Oz", "Citizen Kane", "Casablanca", "Gone with the Wind", "A Clockwork Orange", etc. It's one of the best not just in terms of Disney movies, animated movies, or 90's pop culture, but movies in general. It deserves to be a masterpiece in it of itself!

I am going to agree Belchic. This movie would deserve it's status as an all-time film great.
BTW, I was on Rotten Tomatoes and this is what I found:
THE SUCCESS OF THE LION KING 3D INSPIRES DISNEY TO LAUNCH NEW 3D RERELEASE SCHEDULE
One of the suprise hits of September (which shouldn't have been such a surprise) has been the $80 million-to-date box office take of The Lion King 3D, which was originally announced as just a two-week run and quickly got extended. The Lion King 3D was actually the second classic animated film that Walt Disney Pictures had planned for rerelease, following what would have been a release in February, 2010 of Beauty and the Beast 3D (although the film was rereleased in other nations in 3D as planned). Now, Disney has announced plans to continue converting older animated films at a rate of two per year, of which one will be a traditionally animated Disney film, and one will be a Pixar CGI animated film. Beauty and the Beast 3D will come out first in January, 2012, since its conversion has already been in the can for a year. Next will be Finding Nemo 3D in September, 2012 and then Monsters Inc. 3D in January, 2013, partly to promote the release of the prequel Monsters University on June 21, 2013. The fifth film will then be The Little Mermaid 3D in September, 2013.

Another achievement for The Lion King: it just nabbed the title of Broadway's highest grossing show from The Phantom of the Opera!
As of Monday, it's grossed a total of $853,846,062 as opposed to Phantom of the Opera's $853,122,847, all the more amazing is the fact it did this in less despite being 10 years younger!

I remember that commercial. I thought it was pretty stupid.
@bab: This commercial is YEARS old! WAY before this whole MLP craze was even CLOSE to being around! Now, before you open your yap about anything, I KNOW that MLP was introduced in the 80's, and it was a fairly big craze at the time, but this was 1994 when nobody cared about MLP anymore or even knew it existed.
