Okay, I think I've now decided to update my favorite D.A.C.'s. These are now my current Top 15:
#15 - Oliver & Company (1988)
#14 - The Fox and the Hound (1981)
#13 - Make Mine Music (1946)
#12 - The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
#11 - Brother Bear (2003)
#10 - Beauty and the Beast (1991)
#9 - The Jungle Book (1967)
#8 - Robin Hood (1973)
#7 - The Black Cauldron (1985)
#6 - Sleeping Beauty (1959)
#5 - The Princess and the Frog (2009)
#4 - Lilo & Stitch (2002)
#3 - Bolt (2008)
#2 - The Lion King (1994)
#1 - 101 Dalmatians (1961)
Now, I also have a list of Top 10 least favorites. I will give some explanations as to why I classify them as least favorites of mine.
#10 - Lady and the Tramp (1955)
In all honesty, I really love Disney's Magic Era. During the 50's and 60's, Disney was at the peak of it's popularity delivering so many masterpieces and enjoyable films. However, "Lady and the Tramp", in all honesty, has never been one of my favorites. I know it's really popular and has a huge fanbase to this very day, but compared to all the other films that came out in the Magic Era, I think "Lady and the Tramp" has aged rather poorly. For the sake of the fans, I decided to put this at the bottom of my list; there are some movies that you are not allowed to hate, and this is one of them, so I'm not gonna hate it.
#9 - Melody Time (1948)
"Make Mine Music" has always been a great interest of mine as far as Disney films go, so why do I hold a grudge against it's counterpart, "Melody Time"? Well, to be honest, "Melody Time" doesn't hold the same heart value as "Make Mine Music" does. It has a few segments that are actually quite boring like "Once Upon a Wintertime" and "Trees", and other segments are longer than they necessarily should be like "Johnny Appleseed" and "Pecos Bill". It has it's moments, but it's nowhere near a masterpiece.
#8 - Pocahontas (1995)
I guess for the Reniassance Era, this movie was ok, but it still had a lot of flaws. The acting is not all that great, the tone is a bit too serious. The only things I find amusing about this movie are the scenes with Meeko and Percy, but even those are flawed, because they don't last long enough. "Pocahontas" was overall not a good follow-up to "The Lion King".
#7 - The Rescuers (1977)
This movie came out in the Post-Walt Era, which was not a proud time for Disney at all. This movie is depressing. It did have a couple good songs, but it's overall not as memorable as most of Disney's films, and it should only be reccomended to the hardcore fans. That, and it had nudity.
#6 - Treasure Planet (2002)
Ugh! To quote AVGN: "What were they thinking?" "Treasure Island" may have been a good idea for an animated Disney movie, but why the hell did they have to make it all futuristic? Maybe just to modernize it? Or maybe because they already did "Muppet Treasure Island" and didn't want to seem repetitive? Listen to me, dammit! Taking a classic, well-known story, and trying to modernize it by putting it in space does not equal a win; it equals an epic fail! Don't ever watch this movie. It's horrible.
#5 - Saludos Amigos (1943)
This was the beginning of the Package Film Era, and it was undeniably a rocky start to the era. It's quite obvious that Walt lost a lot of his animation team due to World War II. Not only that, but there are also a lot of parts where it doesn't seem all that appealing to either the eye or ear. Also, the movie's way too short; clocking in at 63 minutes, it's really hard to even classify it as a movie.
#4 - The Emperor's New Groove (2000)
Even though this movie did get some good reviews at the time of it's release, and it does have a fairly big fan base, I just honestly felt the film was unnecessary. I mean, the villain is good, I like David Spade, I've never been a fan of John Goodman, but the movie's pretty much over the top in terms of ridiculousness. Not to mention, it's also a twist on a tale.
#3 - Hercules (1997)
This movie suffered the same problems as "Emperor's New Groove" being over the top in being ridiculous. Actually, I think this one is worse. The acting is terrible, the writing is bad, the songs are forgettable, and the villain doesn't really act like a villain. This was definately the Reniassance Era's black sheep.
#2 - Dinosaur (2000)
I cannot count how many things about this movie are bad. With the acception of maybe the animation, "Dinosaur" has no redeeming qualities at all. It is, in fact, horrible. For one thing, it's loaded with time inaccuracies. Lemurs did not exist in the time of the dinosaurs, neither did the pre-dinosaur lifeforms, plus, dinosaurs had three different periods, and in this movie, they mixed them all up! Also, the cast consists of absolutely no actors that I recognize at all; not to mention, the characters have no personality whatsoever. The worst thing about this movie is the plot: it's a balatant rip-off of "The Land Before Time"! I can go on and on about how much this movie sucks, but there's only one Disney Animated Feature that I find to be worse than this.
#1 - Chicken Little (2005)
If you've been on a search for the worst Disney movie of all time, then look no further. "Chicken Little" is the bottom of the barrell. The characters are annoying, the animation is horrible, and the plot does not follow the story of "Chicken Little" at all. You don't pretend something is something that it's not! I actually heard that a lot of the team who worked on this movie were personally ashamed of making the movie, and I don't blame them; this could easily be the biggest embarrassment of the entire Disney company! This is the reason why CGI films should not be made! If you focus on characters and story, then the movie should be good, but if you focus more on animation, jokes and pop culture references, it will suck! However, it seems like the people who made this movie didn't care about anything! They didn't write anything, they didn't put any effort into the animation, they didn't even come up with any jokes! They probably just continuously smoked, drank and took drugs and just did whatever they were thinking of! In other words, the movie sucks, and I will never watch it again.
I welcome any other opinions.
