That's too bad to hear about how much of a bust Spooky Buddies was. It actually looked the least bit interesting and then they wreck it =/ And considering how good Santa Buddies was... this really is a huge letdown. Shame too, I was prepared to check it out.
The first Air Buddies is still very dear to my heart, though. I'm still a big supporter of the franchise- I just wish they'd try a little harder, and they didn't change everything up like that, like you had mentioned Belchic. It makes me think of the small research I was doing on SpongeBob earlier- they changed creative directors after Season 3 (the movie) and it all went downhill from there.

@bab: I guess I can explain, but it's a bit complicated to do so. I guess you'll have to watch the movie for yourself, and you will see how cliche the plot is. Believe me, it is quite unoriginal, plus there are moments in the movie that would make the Nostalgia Critic cringe! Paws: Good to see that someone else agrees with my opinions.

Just posting here to announce that I've just watched Treasure Buddies, the sixth and newest installment in the Buddies series. It's not the best Buddies movie, but it was definately a vast improvement over Spooky Buddies. It did leave me with a lot of unanswered questions, but I won't reveal any of them because they contain spoilers.

I just heard news today that another Buddies movie is in the works! This one is going to be called "Super Buddies". Sounds like in this one, the Buddies are going to get superpowers, so something tells me babclayman is going to love this one a lot.

I got some updates on the upcoming Super Buddies movie.
At D23, I got some trading cards that showed which super power each Buddy is going to have:
B-Dawg: Super stretching power Mudbud: Invisibility Rosebud: Super speed Buddha: Mind-controlling powers Budderball: Super strength
I think those powers fit each Buddy appropriately.

Superbuhwah?0.o.... Question. How does a movie about a basketball playing golden retriever get to.... this? LOL I guess the same way 101 dalmatians got to where sparky's is. But still it is surprising that buddies went this far.

Funnily enough I was going to post about this movie today, mostly because Disney keeps airing commercials about the new movie. My sister thinks it looks like a flop, but I commend them with at least coming up with some rational, natural way to have them gain their powers. Not that I don't think this looks bad, because this does not look like the best movie in the series, and the fact that they changed the voice actors of Budderball and Rosebud to two of Disney's "stock" actors really gets under my skin.
I do agree about how each power fits each puppy and their individual personality. That I at least think is pretty good, and it's nice to know which each one is, since commercials only give a fleeting glance at which pup has what power.

I don't think it really matters how well it does considering the Buddies movies are direct-to-DVD.

So, B-Dawg is now Mr. Fantastic. Mudbud is the Invisible Woman (well, Male Dog now). Rosebud is the Flash. Buddha is capable of using his powers for Evil. And Budderball has a trait most supers have.
Also, I’m going to take a guess and say in the Film; Mudbud is going to get dirty, which will reveal his locations when invisible.
I am sort of with General on this one. How does a Film Franchise which begins with a Basketball playing Dog evolve into this?
I haven’t seen the Trailer yet, however what is the reason they give for getting their powers?

You really think Buddha is going to turn evil? Bashing the franchise again, bab? And I thought you were a fan of it. People have asked the same questions about all the predecessors like how they got into space. You'll just have to wait for it to come out and watch it for yourself just to see how it happens. I'm sure it'll turn out good like all the other Buddies movies, but I seriously hope it doesn't wind up being a disaster like "Spooky Buddies".

I don't really think Buddah would turn evil. Just saying the ability to control peoples mind does have occassions where it's mainly the dark side using it.
Also, I wasn't bashing it. I'm willing to give the premise a chance. I'm just saying how a franchise which began with "Basketball Playing Dog" has evolved into "Super Heroes".
Not bashing, just saying how it's evolved. Fair reason?

Yes, I don't have a problem with the franchise branching out. I mean if they didn't there would be no buddies. But you must admit it no longer has any connection to the original movie. I mean the dogs couldn't even talk in the original movies.. Now it's more like 5 pups doing cool things. But I don't have a problem with that. Sparky's does the same thing. It's just surprising. We do still have the buddies name and it is kind of cool how you can trace it all back to one movie.

Wait, according to Wiki, The Buddies get their Super Powers from Rings?
We sure they aren't in the Green Lantern Corp? Or with MudBud, the Ring turns him Invisible...are we sure he hasn't got 'The One Ring of Sauron'? ^^"

Nah, I don't see them making green colored blasts from their rings or flying with green auras. Then again there are 9 different color rings available. Each representing an emotion (except Black and White)
Green - Will Yellow - Fear Blue - Hope Red - Rage Orange - Avarice/Greed Indigo - Compassion Violet - Love Black - Death White - Life
As I mentioned Black and White don't exactly have emotion since Death is well death and we know what Life is already.
