*snicker* I've got a fic going where England and Germany's national soccer teams play each other at the climax. Ironic that they actually will play each other in the World Cup.

Actually yes, I have connections in the sports world but they aren't THAT good a connections to assure countries play each other in the World Cup to cross-promote a fanfic. Nice it worked out that way though. ;D I just choose those two because my fic's set in England, Europe's a soccer hotbed and England v. Germany is a match-up everyone who's ever read a history book is familiar with.
Ironically even with those wars that more or less ended all real wars those two aren't that big a rivals in soccer. Still England and Germany did play each other in the finals of 1966 World Cup which the Brits won. However England hasn't won it since while the boys from Deutschland have two World Cup crowns.
Meanwhile the USA not only got through to group play, we won our group to do it. YEEHAW! Maybe America finally has a world-caliber soccer team. U-S-A! U-S-A!

Speaking of this, yes, I am posting in here.
Ahem, anyway, apparantly, if New Zealand were to beat the next team they were up against, I forget who they said. They wanted to make a national holiday out of it for some odd reason.
But of course, the one in charge of national holidays here said that it would be rejected regardless as a national holiday would cost too much.

Holland just KO'ed Brazil...HUH? When did the Dutch become awesome at soccer? They've always been, but germans usually say: Orange trägt nur die Müllabfuhr and now: GERMANY WON AGAIN, AGAINST ARGENTINIA; AND THEY WERE GOOD ESPANJOL OR PARAGUAY; DONT MATTER WE WILL WIN

"The orange one only carries the garbage disposal," I know Orange is a color associated with the Dutch (it's their national racing color for one) but that's an odd phrase.
And while the Dutch are good at soccer, in Brazil it teeters on religion doesn't it. That's a huge upset any way you look at it.
And thank goodness Uruguay kicked Ghana to the curb. Sayonara suckers, that'll teach you to knock out the USA. Go Uruguay!

Ghana should have win, but an uruguay player played unfair. btw google translator sucks too (in this phrase^^) it should mean. "Only the garbage disposal wears orange."

I don't care how bad Uruguay is, they beat the team that knocked out my countrymen so of course I'm going to cheer for this win. Personally I'd rather see Germany win it all, my family has a good deal of German heritage. Das Mutterland.
I was almost certain Yahoo mistranslated that phrase, but you know how translators are they do everything literally. Und das führt zu Störungen. (the last sentence is intentionally run through one to show the way it makes errors)

Sorry to dissappoint you but "Und das führt zu Störungen" is actually grammtically and literally correct.

Yeah well that's the exception that proves the rule. Sie und ich sollten irgendein Heineken ergreifen und zu gehen erfinden Sie besseres BMW für preiswerte Stöße.
Alright, it's finals time. The Netherlands against Spain. Who you guys going with?
My heart's with the Dutch but my money is on the Spaniards.

I've been in the stadion at this match. Isn't it awesome? The yellow-black wall, the opposite of the burning one, is from my favourite team. But I've been on the bruning side, some platforms away from them. Soccer is awesome...
