Episode 8 from the ABC Season (First Season) “No Train no Gain” is one of that episodes that stand above the rest of the show, not only because of the splendid writing saw in the plot or the character development but the animation and musics score too. The episode begins with Cruella discovering that a boy named Billy has a interests in trains and she soon discovers that the Dearly’s have an old special model that Billy wants, so she makes a plan to steal it.
Meanwhile, in the farm, Lucky and his friends are listening to an old story from Coronel, Lucky is bored because Coronel do a lot of planning and never goes to the action, it’s interesting that Lucky in the first season isn’t the strategist he is in the next season, so this is evidence that there is CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT in the series.
After that, Cruella call Horace and Jasper to steal the old wagon of the Dearly’s, but when they stole they bring Coronel too because he lives inside the wagon (I don’t know why they didn’t put Sergeant Tibbys in that episode, he is the best friend of Coronel and is a part of the Bark Brigade, that’s the only flaw of the episode in my opinion), Lucky and the group saw that and they go for the rescue.
The rest of the episode is the Puppies and the Coronel trying to stop the Cruella Train to take the wagon to Billy, what is great is the amount of action and a excellent moral lesson, Lucky is always trying to jump into action, but Coronel advises him not to and teaches the puppies what we will see a lot of in the series: How to make a plan.
What surprised me is that the plan is really intelligent, everything is planned like the use of the Umbrella as a parachute or Spot’s diversion, every puppy ability is used and everyone has a share in the spotlight of the episode.
Even Pongo and Perdita have a role in the episode! After Cadpig, Spot and Rolly use the Bark Channel to communicate what are happening, Perdita and Pongo rushes to the rescue with Roger and Anita in the Dalmatian Car.
The puppies during Coronel Rescue learn the importance of making an plan and a strategy, this is very important and in the future episodes, and even Lucky gains his Leader Position in this episode, Coronel character is very well developed in this episode, most of time he looks like an old incapable person but in this episode he show what he is made of and shows why he is the Bark Brigade Leader.
Cruella is at her best, being craze and mad, she will try to do everything to bring the wagon to Billy, but she will rely most in Jasper and Horace work than her own, so do not expect Cruella Action in this episode.
One most none that the soundtrack for that episode is great, it changes for each situation and is kinda catchy and the animation is at the best, no flaws in this episode.
It’s not a very funny episode, it relies most in slapstick, but the action, fast pace tone of the episode and the writing sure will make you watch it. Final Score: 10/10

Uploaded with ImageShack.us Rolly's EggCellent Adventure is a great episode! I was surprised how they took an old cliché like that and made into a fine piece of story and animation! Spot and her Mother need to leave the Farm, but Spot’s Mother is hatching a nest full of eggs, so Rolly offers himself to do the job. Cadpig and Lucky didn’t want to do that, but Rolly wanted to do this by his own(Okay, he thought was just to sit in the nest, but still, this is showing how Rolly is trying to be competent and even mature). Lucky and Cadpig mocked Rolly in a jerk way, I find out this a problem of writing, in “Bad to the Bone” episode, Lucky and Cadpig acted much more maturely in relation to mocking Rolly, but maybe the events of previous episode had affected their relationship as a team, but let’s move on. The eggs surprisingly hatches and now Rolly need to teach the chicks because they think Rolly is their mother(Super cliché) but Rolly teaches them dog skills, the hidden moral lesson is that Culture is what makes us be what we are, not how, where or when we are born. A great episode to talk about that and this even adds to the concept of Spot wanting to have dog friends. Anyway, Rolly begins to develop some confidence on him and start to act as role model to the chicks, in this process, Lucky and Cadpig make compliments to Rolly and seen to start to respect more his friend. The chicks got kidnapped by Scorch(He was previous trying to take them in the beginning of the episode, that’s why Rolly need to protect them), the puppies go to the rescue, the chicks are taken to DeVil Manor. The chicks free themselves from the leather bag and attack Scorch by biting and growling and they flee to the yard, the puppies don’t know that yet. We see the inside of the DeVil Manor, the design illustrates Cruella’s personality, there is a lot of pictures of her, statues, red, white and black are the predominant colors of the Manor, the puppies find out Scorch and they do a chase scene(With a excellent soundtrack) but they are got by Cruella that lock then in a cage. The chicks got free and using Rolly’s teachings they free the puppies and everyone get home safe and sound. Spot and her mother come back, and everyone see Rolly with better eyes and even make more compliments to him. We see some character growth in this episode that we hope the writers still keep working with this concept. The slapstick was okay, not so funny and the animation was standard, but no mistakes, I wish this was a full-length episode because of the possibilities to work with a deeper plot, but, great episode, I wish to see more Cruella’s too and some more action. 9/10. Wild Chick Chase, unbelievable, another chicken theme episode! They should remain this series “The One Hundred One Chickens”, in this episode, Spot wants to go swimming with the puppies in Hiccup Hole but her mother asked her to babysit Peeps a small female chick that is the son of a friend of hers, Lucky and the gang say to Spot to swimming and takes Peeps with her.
Spots try to deny the offer, but in the end she goes, again this show an element of the show, Lucky is egocentrically and only thinks about him, in just that small couple of episode we have seen that most of the problems are make by him or by Cruella. Is Lucky bad as Cruella? This question will be answered in the future episodes.
Spot go to Hiccup Hole to swim, but peeps is always getting away and getting in trouble, and every time they take him back, Lucky teases Spot to go swimming and Peeps get in trouble again and again, till finally Spot decides what is right and decide to take care of Peeps.
The episode is very cliché so I will not talk much about it, in the end Spot after all the chase Spot realizes that taking care of small children (or chicks) involves a lot of responsibility and she needs to listen to herself more. Two curious points about that episode is that there is a waterfall in the Farm (Don’t ask why) and looks like there is a Lumber Factory near there (Maybe a Cruella Enterprise?).
It’s a good episode, but just that, not the best and not the worse, is just a fun episode.7/10.

The Dogs of Devil fairy saying is another great episode of this season, not only focus on characters that we will not see too much Perdita and Pongo, but shows some good family values and a good plot. The story begins when Roger is organizing the family picnic(In this scene we note that maybe there would have been more protagonists in the story, you read a lot of names in the bowls like Dipstick, Two-Tone, Jewel etc) but Cruella calls Anita for a Fashion Show and she needs to leave.
Roger and Anita have an argument, Rogers says that Anita should stay home and take more time to the family and Anita says that Cruella is her employee and Cruella needs her, they have a fight and Pongo sides with Roger and that makes Perdita goes in protest with Anita to TOPSTOWN (The City from the first episode that resembles New York).
The puppies see the scene, they get worried because they were watching a Soap Opera and the same thing happened, they think that their parents and pets pretend to divorce, so the puppies go the rescue and they get in Anita’s car without anyone notice.
The puppies have some problem but they get to the Fashion Show and some trouble begins cause Scorch attacks them and the puppies go hide in Cruella’s Clothes(The best part that Anita was called for nothing cause Cruella DIDN’T want the clothes that she made).
Perdita comes to rescue Spot, that’s the best part! Again Spot is dealt with respect in this series! Anyway, a crazy chase scene begins and everything turns into a gigantic mess! In the end, Pongo apologize to Perdita and Roger apologizes to Anita.
Great episode, fun and clever, the Soap Opera parody is fun to see and everybody has a great time in the screen.10/10 Dog’s Best Friend is another 10/10 episode! ABC Season again give us a great time and even character development, Roger find a new lost dog in the farm, his name is Blaze (He looks like a miniature of Thunderbolt), Blaze is charismatic and fun, and had a lot of adventures around the world and knows a lot of skills, Lucky gets impressed by that and quickly becomes his friend, Rolly tries to cope with that, but he can’t. Blaze has a grudge against Thunderbolt, he wanted to be Young Thunderbolt in a movie, but Thunderbolt took the role despite being old.
During the night Rolly had a nightmare and he unintentionally breaks an autographed Thunderbolt Picture of Lucky and the shards of it fall in front of Blaze, Lucky wakes up and have a discussion with Blaze and then their friendship is over. Rolly didn’t tell Lucky that was him who broke it.
Rolly in the next morning go in search of Blaze and then save him from falling a wooden bridge, they return to the Barn and them Rolly tells the truth to Lucky and then Blaze’s Pet appears…the rest is the episode final surprise!
It’s simple, it’s friendship and is full of warmth! A great episode for any fan!
What is nice about that episode that more and more the puppies seen to understand each other feelings and start to realize what is important and to cope with their differences. This is a great thing! Next episodes will show and put to test the puppies friendship and courage.10/10
