Why are they making a movie out of the board game? Why are we fighting aliens in it? Who knows but Liam Neeson's in it so it can't be all bad. Here's the trailer... www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDMXkPfxjOc

I saw the trailer on Youtube.
In my Opinion, The Movie looks, Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap!
We all remember what happened when Neeson was with Aliens in 1999! X3
Still, Like said, WHY!? Out of all the things to do, they make a game about a Navy Battle, into an Alien Invasion! I mean, I wouldn't mind a Navy Movie, but they REALLY Jumped the Shark!
Still, Wonder what the reviews will be like. What you think, Pups? X3

Pretty sure they went with alien bad guys for three reasons...
1. They don't want to single out one real world country as the "bad guys." You offend less people if the bad guys are aliens as opposed to the bad guys being Iran or North Korea or Switzerland.
2. Let's be honest, it's an American movie with some mostly American heroes and the American Navy is powerful enough in a fair fight they'd most Earthly foes. Add to that the movie's navy is international, because military good guys who are ONLY American don't sell at the box office right now, and you have a force no threat on Earth could beat. With alien bad guys you get a legitimate threat who could actually do some damage.
3. They want to cash in on "Transformers"

They could have set it during a World War, or like Neeson says in the Trailer, Simple War Games. ;3
And yeah, The first thing I thought of when I saw the Alien ship was "Transformers". I know it is a Cash In, Doesn't mean they can't make it good, either. ;3
I do wonder what would happen in this film though. O.O

Doesn't really hold my interest at all. This is one of those movies that screams "If I wanna see this I am gonna need to get in for free" to me. And seeing as this movie comes out next year which most likely means I won't be able to get free passes I will most likely skip it. At this point I have quite a few movies I wanna see before this next year.
1. The Dark Knight Rises
2. Kick Ass 2
3. The Avengers
4. The Amazing Spiderman
And when it comes closer you just watch there's gonna be about 70 more I put in front of this. Not INTERESTED!

Well, It seems that Battleship has been released in the UK and judging by the reviews I hear, it's pretty much the Director ripping off the Micheal Bay Transformer Films.
We got a movie based on a Hasbro product, with An Alien Tech invasion, and tons to stuff blows up. The only thing that is missing is the racist stereotype characters. =s
So yeah, it has as much to do with the Battleship game as the Mario Brothers Film did to the game that was based on.
What you Pups think?

"The only thing that is missing is the racist stereotype characters. =s"
Do heroic Americans kicking lots of alien ass count as a stereotype? Perhaps that's why Doctor Who's aliens always attack Great Britain, less violent military resistance (excluding U.N.I.T. who doesn't show up nearly enough).
"So yeah, it has as much to do with the Battleship game as the Mario Brothers Film did to the game that was based on"
From what I've seen in the trailers the aliens' main weapons for attacking the Navy ships appears to be exploding 'pegs' like those in the game. That's sort of clever, one wonders if they are powerful enough it would take three to sink a destroyer. Or five for an aircraft carrier.

I think I have an idea for board game based movies that could come after this
Monopoly the movie Chutes and Ladders the movie Candyland the movie Yahtzee the movie Mr.Bucket the movie Hungry Hungry Hippos the movie Risk the movie (that one wouldn't be so bad actually) Trouble the movie Sorry! the movie Operation the movie Simon the movie Mouse Trap the movie
I didn't say Clue cause it already had a movie along time ago with Tim Curry in it

Operation would probably be a cool Hospital Drama Movie. I know they've already done a movie about Cluedo (Clue in the US).
I think Battleships would have been better if it was more of a 'HumanVersusHuman' War Film or something, like those Submarine Movies (E.G. Hunt for the Red October). The Alien thing was ridiculous and you can clearly see that the Director though Transformers was Hasbro's only franchise.
What films COULD work?

"Monopoly the movie" One would imagine it goes for four hours and still wouldn't have a real ending. But there would be a cute dog and a race car so it wouldn't be all bad. Chutes and Ladders the movie Hungry Hungry Hippos the movie Robot Chicken actually did those, robotchicken.wikia.com/wiki/Board_Game_MoviesSimon the movie "The only way to diffuse this bomb is to correctly repeat this flashing series of lights by pressing the buttons I've placed on it. Miss one and it goes off! *evil laugh*" Mouse Trap the movie "Mouse Hunt" didn't have enough of a box office return to justify a branded knockoff.

Just read a little about this movie online, at no point does anyone say "You sank my battleship!" or even make a joke about it. (Granted the US Navy has no active battleships so the one is the movie is the USS Missouri hauled out of retirement and that ship means too much to Americans to sink so, eh.)
What? Why did we make this movie?

Good question.
What about 13 Dead End Drive? That could make a good movie.
