When we see commercials for christmas sales, decorations, tv specials, and so on not very long after Halloween.
How do you guys feel about this? Like it? Don't like it?
For me I'm kinda in the middle. Christmas is my favorite holiday (and not just because my birthday is so close to it). But.. at LEAST wait a week until after halloween. Because only 2 days after Halloween my aunt and uncle down the road already put up Christmas decorations outside =/
And I remember this late july they aired a christmas episode of Cake Boss and another christmas episode of a show (forget the name) on BET.
I mean... Thanksgiving anyone? (American members)!
Though I'm in the middle.. I do kinda like it, but at the same time I kinda don't *shrug*

I hate it. They can at least wait till the begining of December. Out here in Colorado, stores were already advertising Christmas stuff in September. I mean, it's not even Thanksgiving yet! It's rather annoying.

In a way it's almost become a new norm in society. I still remember when I was younger that Christmas stuff DID NOT start anywhere until December. Then it was just after Thanksgiving. Years later it starts in the middle of November.. and to the point where we are now =/
Take the channel ABC Family for example.
At first they only had a "25 days of christmas" special where they would show christmas films up until Dec. 25th. NOW they have a "countdown to 25 days of christmas" special which starts sometime this month.

I myself really do like Christmas, but I don't like how lots of people set up for it too early. Thanksgiving is another holiday I really do care about, and many people just treat that holiday like it's nothing. I say they should at least wait until the first day of December to do anything associated with Christmas. I mean, I just keep getting this feeling that Christmas is a forced holiday lately.

"Forced holiday" ... it really does feel that way now.

It's a bit ridiculous, how early they start advertising. Just a bit. -cough- I agree, I used to look forward to Christmas every year as a kid and I can't remember once feeling too rushed about welcoming the holiday in. Over the years, seems like it just gets advertised earlier and earlier... and the Christmas songs slowly get a bit more unbearable. Don't get me wrong, I like Christmas songs as much as anyone who celebrates, but hearing it appear on the radio months before the holiday seems to make it almost as annoying as mainstream, or listening to full albums of the Beach Boys in February. I reckon I'll be ready for Christmas at the same time I am every year, which is traditionally a few days before December in my family. Ah, and when it starts snowing a lot, of course... though that's kind of already happened. :] As for the early advertisements, we don't have cable, so not much to worry about there. The radio and stores will be the only thing to ignore until I'm ready for it.

I'm with you on this one, Nemo!
They just seem to be forcing Christmas so early each year! I love Christmas, it's an enjoyable time of Year! But geez, At least wait til AFTER Halloween to do it. When I was in America, they were playing Christmas Songs in the Florida Mall...BEFORE Halloween!
Just because they make a point of it, in October, doesn't mean we'll be any more excited. In my honest thoughts, if they bring it up so early, by the time Christmas actually does arrive, we would be already bored with it.
I think a perfect time to start it would be somewhen in Late Novemvber. Not too early, but not too late either.
So, I say, I love Christmas, but I think it comes a bit too early each year. ^^;
What you Pups think? =3

Well, It’s officially Christmas for me now! Yesterday, I was watching the Television and caught glimpse of an Advert which signals Christmas for us every year. =3 Do you know of the Coca Cola Christmas Advert? The one which has the boy ringing the bells to signal to the village that the Cola Van Convoy coming through with all the lights on them? www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLUzu81rVcsTo my family, it isn’t officially Christmas time until that advert airs. What? It’s a good advert. X3 Also, Fun Fact, Coca Cola is the reason Santa wears a Red Suit. =3 Are there any yearly traditions that signal when Christmas begins for you, Pups? =3

Well I've never seen that commercial before.
As for me.. I don't really have a yearly signal tradition. It just happens when it does *shrug* though this Monday was when they started to play Christmas music on my xm radio.

I had the same thought last week noticing a local Wal-Mart had all their decorations up it's a bit early. The greeter by the door agreed but they have to do it. Today I was in a Meijer's and they are already playing Christmas music on the speakers. That said I traditionally don't start focusing on Christmas until after Thanksgiving...and maybe after Black Friday as well. That Coke ad was made to air in the United States and did but it was a short campaign in the late 1990s (check out that 90's style Coke 2-liter bottle on the dinner table 5 seconds in...and note all the lighted big rigs are US-built Freightliners). For some reason it appears to have caught on in Britain and keeps airing there, Coke even duplicated the trucks in real life for promotional events all over Europe... www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYSB3eJ-u0A&feature=relatedAlso while Coke has done their part to spread the modern image of Santa, they didn't originate it. That's an urban legend... www.snopes.com/holidays/christmas/santa/cocacola.asp...naturally last summer Pepsi aired ads with Santa on vacation drinking their pop instead.

Traditionally in New York City the kickoff to the Christmas season is the end of the famous Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade on Thanksgiving morning. A big float featuring Santa Claus and his reindeer is always the last one in the parade with the holiday season officially kicking off when it reaches the Macy's Department Store, the finish line of the parade.

Well, Since Thanksgiving has happened yesterday, I assume that Christmas has officially started for some Dalmatians here! =3
I know that some more Christmas Ads have been playing, and I think I heard a Christmas Song on the Radio, a day or so ago! ;3
I am actually heading to a Victoria Christmas Event at the Local Dockyard, in hopes to get into the season.
Still, If Christmas has officially started for you, Pups... How do you intend to get into the Spirit? *Hugs* X3

Honestly, to me, it feels a bit much to start advertising in October. I KNOW everyone's excited for Christmas, but advertising early. I mean, Christmas is special because it happens only once a year. If the advertisements play months before that, but the time December rolls around, everyone'll be sick of Christmas. These are just my thoughts anyway.
And what I'll be doing for Christmas is what I do every year. I go to my Grandparents and celebrate it there. But the Spirt Club in my high school (Which i'm a part of ) goes caroling to the Children's Specialized Hospital. And my Conformation class and I go caroling at a hospital and we light our Menorah and sing Hanuka Songs.

October is too early for Christmas I agree.
As for me.. we already have our trees up ^^; but on christmas eve we celebrate at my aunt/uncle's house, and we're having christmas day at my house. We have a GIANT breakfast feast/buffet and do the gift exchanges.
