They can't be serious, can they? This is a joke, right? o.O
I mean, shouldn't the Doctor Who Site establish if the show's going to get a movie, weeks before IMDB announces it? Also Chris Hardwick said himself that BBC has NOT signed off on this.
Or is it a joke on how David Yates was born about the same time, Doctor Who originally started?
They take an established series like Doctor Who and make a Movie out of it? It isn't as though the Series hasn't been on for over a decade or two, like most film adaptations (e.g. Starsky & Hutch or Dukes of Hazzard), it's still running fresh on BBC.
Are they going to do an entire "Star Trek XI" aproach by saying "Oooooh, It's set in an alternate Universe, so we can screw up continuity all we like!"
"It's a smart move because you don't risk angering fans of the TV series".
Why do I get the feeling he'll be regretting saying that, when there's the angry mob outside his house?
I hope this project doesn't get off the ground. o.O
What you think, Pups?

Well, we can't have a say whether we want the movie to be picked up or not, it's entirely their decision. If we come out there to protest, we might either be escorted off by security and/or arrested.
And for the "angry mob" people, they too can get arrested for trespassing
I know this sucks because this "Doctor Who" movie has nothing to do with the show, but if they do pick it up(which they might), then we can't do anything, except refusing to see it.
This is why I'm glad that the 101D fandom is low. They can't do anything to screw 101 Dalmatians up. And if they did, they'll do it in CGI Animation instead of the traditional and original cel animation and they'll put it in 3D, if that happens, I'm out of 101D Forever...

I think it's either a reboot-style adventure (like Star Trek) or an origin story (which the show has never done). Might be interesting to explain where the Doctor came from, the show has only hinted at times and none very successfully (like the time they implied he was God).

Origins story shouldn't be a movie plot.
That's the point of Doctor "WHO", it's Suppose to be mysterious! If they did an origin story, it would be like, Flintstones in Rock Vegas, where they had to tell us the Origins of even Wilma's Necklace!
Besides, What's wrong with keeping the Mystery?
Like said, It'll have Nothing to do with our exsisting series, so I can tell ALOT of fans WILL be annoyed.
You agree with me, Pups?

If K-9 is in it I'd still watch it but maybe not in theaters. This seems like the film that is hard to rate, the franchise prides itself on scarring kids so you'd want a low rating but real scares raise it (PG-13 would be the American range and that's not a rating given usually to family films [except the later Harry Potter])
Seems crazy AU though, the character has such a long history where do you start? With Susan? With Tom Baker's era which is the best known? A cheap British-feeling Star Trek reboot knockoff? An alien invasion in London at Christmas? (seems to happen to him a lot)

Well, this is certainly reassuring. From Steven Moffat's twitter: twitter.com/#!/steven_moffat/status/142509085982601216 Yates and Moffat do work for different parts of the BBC though, and Moffat doesn't have the final say in this.

No idea but probably not together, they already did that on the show... www.youtube.com/watch?v=vu6_IxkAHsIMaybe the film is the 2013 50th Anniversary special that they haven't said they are making but everyone knows they will (although most figure it'll be "The 11 Doctors" or something like that, cue crossover)

Yeah, I'm more for the "Multi Doctor" story. It's the fiftieth Aniversary and so far, every decade in which the show was still airing had a Multi Doctor story.
The only decade not to have one was 2003, but the Series wasn't since 1996. ^^;
Although, Maybe it be an element of certain things.
Like, Something is threatening the Doctor's exsistance in the past, so the Doctor goes back to previous moments in his life to fix what's gone wrong. A bit like what they did with Star Trek, only they fix the damage.
That sound interesting to you, Pups? *Hugs* X3

movies.msn.com/movies/article.aspx?news=749648&ocid=rr-mov-newsWell those 'origin story' rumors may have been right after all...in a way. It appears the BBC wants a telemovie drama about the origins of the TV show 'Doctor Who' to celebrate the 50th anniversary next year. It's not a origin for the Doctor, it's the story of how the show came to be (an actor playing William Hartnell would be one of the main characters for instance). I still hope they do an in-universe adventure for the anniversary but that does sound right up the BBC's alley (period piece drama is a speciality of theirs).
