This is a movie coming out next year that I might want to check out. I liked the book and the original cartoon. There is an official trailer out. Danny DeVito is going to be the Lorax, and Zac Effron is going to be the Onceler (I wanted Johnny Depp to be the latter, but I guess they wanted to modernize the film with today's humor). This would mark the fourth movie to be based on a Dr. Seuss book.

Money says they wreck this by playing up the positive conservation message of the big into full-on eco-propagada with an anti-industry message. Just once I'd like to see a kid's movie where factories and industry aren't the bad guys.

One thing that kind of diss appoints me is that this movie seems to be all bright and cheery, whereas the original was supposed to be dark and serious.

So far, that's the fourth Dr. Seuss book turned Hollywood film. It kinda makes me wonder if we will see more of the Onceler beyond his arms.

To answer Trey's question: yes, we will. In fact, he is actually much younger in this movie, much like what they did to the mayor of Whoville in Horton Hears a Who.

Going to see this movie tomorrow. Can't wait. I heard the Onceler does reveal his face, and it's really creepy.

I have heard that the movie has got twenty sponsers or something like that.
Although, I think I heard someone say, the movie misses the point of the Story. The story was about Industrializations or something like that, but considering there's a Honda advert now going "Safe for the *whatever they're called* trees", it's pretty apparent that they think this is a "Save the Forest" type movie. You know, the type of movies which say "All Human life is EVIL and only Tree livers are the only good people on the planet". I get annoyed by those films.
So, I am not sure whether I'd see this Movie.
However, If you seen it, how is it, Belchic?

I don't think I'll be seeing this. Besides Cat in the Hat and the Grinch stole christmas I don't know any other of Seuss's works.

Just got back from seeing it. It wasn't amazing, but it was pretty good, and worth seeing in 3D. My only gripes about it were it was only based loosely on the book, and the musical numbers were a little annoying, but if you look beyond those, it's a pretty good flick. It was actually interesting to see the life behind the boy who listens to the Onceler's story and why he came to him. It was also interesting to see what happened before and after the events of the original story. I also noticed the boy's name was Ted, and the girl he loved was named Audrey, which of course is an homage to Dr. Suess and his wife (Theodore and Audrey Geissel). Overall, not too bad of a movie. Here's how I'd rate the aspects of it:
Story: A- Characters: A+ Animation: A Jokes: C- Songs: D-
In case you have forgotten, I rate all CGI movies I see on those aspects, and I only include songs if there are any.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrvg33vkdFIYeah, that's totally what this film was about... Why Mazda? Why? Still glad to see Belchic enjoyed it. I've heard the non-book characters and story referred to as drawbacks in some reviews of it (io9 ripped into it as a "Wall-E" knockoff) but some changes were all but required to get the film up to length.

I saw the movie too and I thought it was okay.
It's good to see an environmentally friendly film that isn't all that preachy, the CGI is good and it has some laughs (the 1970s throwbacks are a good way to keep the movie from dating itself), but there's a lot of padding that (obviously) needs to be in the movie to stretch it to feature length. The problem is now that we have a movie like Wall-E, it seems like a relic from another age. I thought Ted's voice sounded a little too old for his character, and in addition, I felt that although the Lorax's name is in the title, he doesn't seem to be all that active a character.
As a movie it's not bad, but kids might find more milage in it.
The Lorax TreyVore rates it: C+

I saw this and can I just say this just might be the best Dr. Seuss rendition of a movie I have ever seen. I didn't really like any of the others but this one was IMHO the best one they ever made. Good songs, Good characters, Good Plot. I rate this movie a B+.
