Gotta love those completely random ideas that just pop into your head while working...
For Whom The Bell Tolls…
What had he been thinking? Getting her, in this deep? Was she worth this much trouble? Simply put, yes. She meant everything to him; he’d die for her. She was everything he had ever dreamed of and more. He stood before friends and family, sweat rolling down his face. The eyes of so many, burning into his back. She was there, beside him. Did he do the right thing? He looked into her sky-blue eyes and saw his answer, yes.
She looked at him, not caring about what anyone else said. She’d done it for him. Now before her own family, she was prepared. She looked into his brown eyes, though partially obscured by his long brown locks, spoke to her silently. A tear rolled down her cheek, she didn’t move. The judge was speaking, though she barely heard his words.
He watched the single tear roll down her white cheek; did he make the right decision? Was she going to regret her actions? Or did she already? Guilt welled up inside his heart, his pulse quicken. His tail hung down between his legs, his nerves getting the better of him. His paw began to sweat as he took her paws in his own. He looked into her eyes again and felt calmed slightly.
Her heart was racing; this was a life altering choice she had made. Was it the right one? After all, she was still young, could she afford to have taken this risk? The judge continued on, she bowed her head and looked at her feet. A paw came up and lifted her head; a warm smile greeted her gaze. Her heart slowed to normal; all at once she didn’t care what the future meant to her. She had him all to herself.
He looked into her eyes more, the judge continuing his ramblings. What about the other guy? No, he wasn’t a threat anymore. Bound and gagged in a car trunk outside, he wouldn’t be there to make the situation worse. The accomplice stood beside him now, a true friend. They hadn’t know each other long, but they treated one another like brothers, and were there just the same. He’d helped with the troublemaker, by holding him tight while the ropes were ensnaring his limbs. A small chuckle escaped his mouth at the memory of his face. A mix of anger and horror, after all they were friends too.
She smiled as he chuckled, whenever he did that she felt she could handle anything. He’d always protected her from others, now would be no different. She wasn’t sure about things in the future, but she knew so long as she had him it didn’t matter. Her heart quickened again, the judge was ending his long sentence. She looked from him, to the one beside her. They were going to here the final words of what was to be their future.
His grip tightened on her paws slightly, the judge was finally concluding. He squeezed her paws slightly, and she squeezed back in reassurance, everything would be fine. He wanted to speak to her; he opened his mouth and said in a soft voice. “Oddball, I’ll love you until the day I die…”
“Oddy, I’ll love you for as long as there is life in our hearts…” The judge turned to them and raised his gavel high over his desk. His voice was low and ominous.
“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!” And thus the hammer fell. And the bells rang out their news to the world…
