The new game show Switch, or the new US adaptation of the game show from Belgium, premiered tonight on Game Show Network.
In this show, five contestants stand behind numbers and answer questions. Each time a contestant answers a question correctly, they switch places with the contestants who answered it incorrectly, moving forward to the highest remaining rank.
At the start of the game, the contestants play a speed round where they buzz in and answer questions to determine who gets to stand behind which number. The first four contestants to answer correctly take their places behind numbers one, two, three, and four, in that order, while the remaining contestant takes their place behind number five.
After the speed round, the contestants play three rounds of answering multiple-choice questions, where each contestant who locks in with the correct answer switches to the highest remaining rank with the contestants who answered it incorrectly. There are five questions in the first of these rounds, four questions in the second of these rounds, and three questions in the third of these rounds. At the end of each of these first two rounds, the contestant at the lowest rank is eliminated. At the end of the third of these rounds, the contestant at rank one wins the game and advances to the bonus round.
In the bonus round, the winning contestant starts at rank five and answers questions within 60 seconds, with each correct answer allowing them to move one rank forward, and each incorrect answer forcing them to move one rank back. If the contestant reaches rank one and answers the next question correctly while on rank one, all before they run out of time, they win $10,000. But if they run out of time, they win $1,000.

It has been announced some time ago that there will be a revival of Split Second for Game Show Network, but it has been revealed just recently that it will be hosted by America Says host John Michael Higgins, and it will premiere this April.
When this revival comes through, it’ll make it the second time a game show gets revived after I covered it on Game Show Corner, the first time being Weakest Link.

The new revival of Split Second just premiered tonight. Like I said before, it’s hosted by America Says host John Michael Higgins.
Now, because this version is for Game Show Network, each correct answer to a part of a question in the first two rounds is worth points instead of money, a car is not played for in the bonus round, and there are no returning champions (even though Master Minds is a Game Show Network show that has returning champions).
In round one, each correct answer is worth 25 points if all three contestants are correct, 50 points if two contestants are correct, and 100 points if only one contestant is correct.
In round two, the point values are doubled to 50, 100, and 200 points, respectively.
Unlike the previous versions, each of these two rounds has a set number of questions and isn’t played within an unspecified time limit. Also, each part of a question can only be attempted once.
In the Countdown Round, the contestant in first place needs to give four correct answers to win the game, the contestant in second place needs to give six correct answers to win the game, and the contestant in third place needs to give eight correct answers to win the game.
In the bonus round, the winning contestant is asked two-part questions instead of three-part questions, and they must answer one part of each question. If they do so correctly on seven questions within 60 seconds, they win $10,000. If they don’t, they win $1,000.
Also, it has just been revealed that there will be another new game show premiering on Game Show Network this June. It’s called Hey Yahoo!, and it will be hosted by actor Tom Cavanagh.

Hey Yahoo! just premiered tonight, and just hours ago, a full episode was uploaded on Game Show Network’s YouTube channel. Like I said before, this show is hosted by actor Tom Cavanagh.
In this show, two teams of three, each with a team name, compete in guessing the most popular searches on Yahoo! Each question has a blank at the end and a series of answers whose initial letters are revealed when that question first comes into play. Each correct answer is worth money, and the team with the most money at the end of the game wins and plays the bonus round for a shot at an additional $10,000.
In each of the first two rounds, each team is asked a different question with a list of five answers, worth $100, $75, $50, $25, and $10 in round one, and $200, $150, $100, $50, and $20 in round two. On a team’s turn, members take turns choosing dollar amounts and guessing the answers next to those dollar amounts. Each time a team member chooses a dollar amount, an additional letter is revealed in the answer next to that dollar amount. Correctly guessing an answer reveals it on the board and scores the dollar amount for the team, while incorrectly guessing an answer knocks that team member out for the remainder of that question. If all five answers are correctly guessed, that team scores a cash bonus of $100 in round one and $200 in round two. If all three members of that team are knocked out, the opposing team gets to guess one of the remaining answers, with the members answering together.
In round three, the teams are shown a series of six categories, each one having one question with three answers worth $200, $150, and $75. The trailing team plays first and chooses three of the categories, while the others play the three remaining categories afterwards. At the start of a team’s turn, that team chooses which category to play first. The team has 60 seconds to guess as many answers as they can, with each correct guess scoring them the dollar value of that answer. If they get stuck, they can pass and move on to the next category, and they will return to the category passed if they still have time left on the clock.
In the bonus round, the winning team is asked seven questions, each one in a different category and having only one answer. They have 60 seconds to answer all seven questions correctly. Doing so adds $10,000 to their winnings, while failing to do so wins the team nothing extra.

There are a couple of game shows I saw premiered this year.
One of these game shows is The Floor, airing on Fox and hosted by Rob Lowe.
The game of The Floor is, in a way, played like a tournament for an entire season. The tournament started with eighty-one contestants standing on the floor in a 9x9 grid, each one standing on a space on the floor and having a different area of expertise. One contestant is randomly selected, and that contestant chooses one of their neighboring opponents and plays against that opponent in that opponent’s category in a duel. Each contestant has a clock that starts at 45 seconds. When it’s a contestant’s turn, their clock counts down, and their clock stops when their opponent has their turn. The two contestants identify images or guess missing words until one contestant’s clock reaches zero, at which point that contestant loses the duel and is eliminated from the tournament, and the winner of that duel wins the loser’s space on the floor, keeps their own category, and chooses whether to play another duel against another neighboring opponent or go back to the floor, in which case of the latter, another contestant will be selected at random.
At the end of each episode, the contestant with the most spaces of the floor wins $20,000. At the end of the season, the winner of the tournament will win $250,000.
Another game show is Blank Slate, airing on Game Show Network and hosted by Mario Lopez, who previously hosted Candy Crush, Pet Star, and Masters Of The Maze during its second season.
Two teams of two, each one teamed up with a celebrity, play three rounds of writing answers to fill-in-the-blank questions and matching their teammates and home viewers.
In round one, each team plays two questions, with the two teams taking turns. On each question, the members of the team write down their answers and reveal them, one at a time. If two members match, the team scores 100 points. If all three members match, the points are tripled to 300 points. Then, the top home viewer answer is revealed, and if any member of the team matches that answer, the team scores a bonus of 100 points.
In round two, the celebrities switch teams, each team plays one question, and each question is worth 200 points for a two-member match or 600 points for a three-member match, as well as a bonus of 200 points for matching the top home viewer answer.
In round three, the trailing team chooses which celebrity to team up with, while the remaining team teams up with the remaining celebrity. Each team plays one question, and each question has two blanks. Each question is worth 300 points for a two-member match per individual answer or 900 points for a three-member match per individual answer, as well as a bonus of 300 points for matching each individual top home viewer answer.
The team with the most points wins the game and advances to the bonus round.
In the bonus round, four categories are given, each one having one question. The team chooses a category, and both members of the team must come up with an answer together to write down, while the celebrities write down their answers individually. The team must choose which celebrity to match. If the team correctly matches on three questions, they win $10,000. If they fail on two questions, they win $1,000.
