Well, reviews of The Croods are already leaking on Rotten Tomatoes.
And... it looks good. As of this writing right now it has a score of 80%.
EDIT: It went down a bit. It's now down to 64%, but still considered "Fresh".

I just got back from seeing The Croods. The big question is, was it worth the ticket price? Yeah, I think it was, but not good enough to go back and see it again.
Here's my review on each category of focus:
Story: B I gotta say, Dreamworks has made another great film with a strong story, although it takes a while to get into the plot since the first 45 minutes are just random jokes with characters running around yelling, but once you make it past that part, the film gets intriguing. However, the story is something that has been done to death in animated films: "Our home is getting destroyed, so we must journey to a new home." I mean, we've seen that before on films like The Land Before Time, Watership Down, and dare I say it...Dinosaur. Still, it works for this film.
Characters: A This film has a very small cast, and I gotta say that they all have a lot of qualities that make them likable, except for maybe Grug because nobody likes stubborn people. The two main protagonists, Guy and Eep, both have some awesome chemistry. My only gripe would be that seeing that there's a lack of male characters, it could be hard for male audiences to relate to the characters.
Animation: A This is another example of a film that seems to put more effort into the animation than anything else. A majority of the life forms that we see in the film we have no idea what they are, but regardless, it's still pretty to look at. To be fair, the film does take place during the time when Pangea was dividing, so a lot of the life forms on Earth hadn't fully evolved yet.
Jokes: C+ As I've said before, the first 45 minutes of this film is just characters running around and yelling while all these random jokes get constantly thrown into your face. However, after all that, when the film finally gets a chance to take a breath, the jokes actually become more tolerable, and even I caught myself laughing out loud at some of them.
Overall, good flick. Definitely worth checking out. Also, being that this is Dreamworks, if it gets a lot of rave reviews, I'm sure there will be a sequel in the future.
Now, before the film started, I saw trailers for Epic, Monsters University, Despicable Me 2 and Turbo. After seeing those trailers, my case still rests on each of them. Epic does not look convincing, neither does Monsters U, Despicable Me 2 looks really awesome, and Turbo...I'll wait and hear what AniMatt has to say about it, and if he says it's good, I'll wait for the DVD.
Those are my thoughts.

So I guess The Croods would be somewhere in the B range?
I knew it didn't look like much, but the reviews seem to be okay.

I saw a point of the G.I.Joe trailer, and considering which city gets wrecked in it, I am cautious on that one. Also, they don't seem to be showing much trailers for Retaliation, more for "G.I.Joe 3D". Those the same film?
Might see Monsters University. I mean, it is a follow up to one of Pixar's well loved films, like Toy Story, unlike Cars which is one of Pixar's 'Okay' films.
Like said though, the point it's a Prequel does take any tension since we know what things are like in the first film, don't we?

Not to jump the gun, but one person commented on AniMat's blip profile predicting which of the Animated Films of 2013 will go where on his Best and Worst lists. That person predicts:
Top 5 Best
#5: Despicable Me 2 #4: Epic #3: The Croods #2: Turbo #1: Frozen
Top 5 Worst
#5: Mr. Peabody and Sherman #4: Monsters University #3: Planes #2: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 #1: Escape From Planet Earth

Whoever made that prediction is probably way off, especially considering MP&S is being put on hold until next year, but we'll see.

I guess I would agree with it, though I think I enjoyed the movie a little better than him. I'd give it...
Story: 6/10 True, it is something that's been done to death, but I don't think it deserved a score THAT low.
Animation: 10/10 So what if the main characters are ugly? They're cave people! They're supposed to be ugly!
Characters: 8/10 Most of the characters are forgettable, but the strong characters of Guy, Eep and Grug really make up for it.

On Sunday I will admit to having seen the theatrical re-release of Jurassic Park. It's amazing that movie held up as well as it did.
The reason I bring this up is because before the movie they showed trailers for three of the major animated films of this year: Epic, Despicable Me 2 and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
I now think:
Epic I am more convinced will probably be good.
Despicable Me 2 I will bet is going to be worth the wait.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2... well, I will show you the trailer myself.
The question this movie seems to be asking is "Are you older than 10?" If so, this movie can offer you nothing!

Looks like a cross with Jurrasic Park and those 'Journey' Movies, with as many Food Puns crammed into it as possible. =s
Is the entire Cloudy Sequel going to be nothing but Puns then?
Thinking on the Youtube advert for Epic ("Don't press that Skip Ad Button!"), is that slug creature voiced by the person who does Fry's voice in Futurama?

From the previews I've seen for Turbo that may be oddly watchable. They make it look like the whole film runs on a "Sure, why the Hell not" premise, that just might be crazy enough to work.
