"Pepper has wagred $21,000," Pasquale said after seeing the contestants' wagers, "Penny has wagered $20,000, Melanie and Raine each has wagered $2,000. You're the one with the highest wager, Pepper, so you'll have the option to answer or shift this question."
The rest of the question appears for the home viewers as Pasquale reads the entire question from his card.
"What part of the body does an ophthalmologist perform operations on?" he asked.

"Eyes is the right answer," Pasquale said to Pepper. "Your total is now at $66,000. That was the last question in this round. Here's where we stand. Penny has $65,000, Pepper has $66,000, Raine has $57,000, and Melanie has $75,000. Another person is about to leave here with nothing. Melanie, you're in the lead, which means you're safe from being shafted off the show. And as the leader at the end of this round, you will get to choose whom to shaft. I'll give you a moment to think about it, and then, I'll ask for a name."
A different music cue was played while the lights on the set lit up in a specific symmetrical pattern. This lasted for about ten seconds, after which the music ended and all the lights on the set lit up white at the same time.
"So, Melanie," said Pasquale, "who is the next person to be shafted and why?"

The audience let out an "aawww" after seeing Melanie in tears and getting a hug from Raine, the contestant she just chose to shaft out of the game.
"So, Raine," said Pasquale, "does this mean you're not going to persuade Melanie to change her mind?"

"All right, then, Raine," said Pasquale. "You're off the show."
The show's logo then flashed, and Raine was gone.
"Three contestants remain," said Pasquale. "Penny, Pepper, and Melanie. All ladies. This is the third and final question round. And because there are only three contestants left, a series of three questions will be asked in this round. We'll start each of you off with the amount of money that the contestant in the lead had at the end of the previous round. Melanie ended that round as the leader with $75,000, so that's how much we'll start each of you off in this round."
The amount of $75,000 is now displayed on the monitor at the front of each remaining contestant's podium.
"Now, keep in mind that all three of you each still have your shift option," Pasquale said to the contestants, "After this round, two of you will move on to the endgame to decide what to do with tonight's cash prize. Let's play Shafted."
A music cue was played while the lights on the set lit up in a specific symmetrical pattern.
"What musical instrument...?" Pasquale read from a card as the same words appear for the home viewers. "What musical instrument...? Lock in your wagers."

"It is the violin," Pasquale said to Penny. "You are right. That takes your total to $115,000. On to the next question."
The first part of the next question appears for the home viewers as Pasquale reads it aloud from his card.
"What type of animal...?" he asked. "What type of animal...? Lock in your wagers."
