Movies based on toys can be a mixed bag. We've had movies based on cars that turn into robots, movies about naval board games that somehow end up involving aliens, movies about plastic ponies that were sadly down on the number of actual ponies, and two movies about G.I. Joe that were, eh. They've all been pretty mixed, is it possible to make a good one? Maybe because now it is as Warner Bros. is partnering up to make a movie of a toy we have all loved for years. Next year, for better or worse, it's the LEGO Movie... www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPnY2NjSjrgTo be honest, that actually looks pretty sweet. LEGO has licensed the right to a ton of characters in the last years and for once that pays off as they can throw all the DC superheroes and Ninja Turles they want into the mix alongside the main characters creating a lot of fun just based on the crossovers. And no, it's not made with the toys. It's styled to look like a fanmade Brickfilm but it's all CGI. But man did they do a good job with it...

I remember seeing a trailer for this when I went and saw Despicable Me 2. They've made a bunch of Lego video games and TV series' already, and I think they may have already done some Lego movies, but they were probably direct-to-DVD. This movie looks...actually interesting.

I saw the Trailer. I do admit, they do a good job at making it look real. If you look closely, the Astronauts Helmet is slightly broken and Morgan Freeman's Character's Staff is actually a chewed up Lolly Pop!
Although, what with his naming of all those characters at be start, I'm fearing they might make it a Seltzerberg like film, where Charaters from other media for no reason or contribution to the Plot. Looks interesting though, doesn't it?

Imo, two words for this film. DUMB MOVIE! Seriously, I used to like Legos, (playing with them), and also liked the Lego Star Wars games but this, after all other sorts of Lego stuff, (Harry Potter, LotR, IJ, DC superheroes, PotC, etc), I just find it as dumb, despite the fact Liam Neeson is in it as a 'two-faced' cop, (in other words, far as I know, he's a single cop playing both good cop and bad cop).

Sounds like this year is off to a REALLY bad start, since you put it that way, Lupus!

I don't think we're suppose to take this movie seriously, Lupus. From what I gather, the plot is the Lego world is somewhat a police state where everything needs to be followed to the instructions.
Then a special brick comes and gets stuck to Emmett's back, meaning he is "The Special" to save the world. What I gather too, Batman is suppose to be the female lead's boyfriend.
Lego have been selling stuff from the film too, my recent Lego catalogue showed so.
I'm sure this film may be tounge in cheek, know what I mean?

Yeah, I think the Lego thing is part of the charm. Kinda like when you play the Lego *blank* video games it has it's own charm and you're not supposed to be expecting darkness or graphic violence because it is juxtaposed with something you played with as a kid.
I hope the reviews are good, I'd like to see this movie.

You know what? I kind of agree with bab and Trey. The Lego Movie was made for kids. And like they said, it's not meant to be taken seriously. If you're not the target audience, then you're obviously not going to like it very much.

The studio seems confident about it. I was reading a story online about LEGO and girl minifigs and they said a sequel to this movie is already in development. Welcome to how Hollywood works...

Okay, so without seeing how the First movie would turn out, they go ahead and make a sequel? Just like planes which I'm taking everyone's word for it, could be a bad movie and they still go ahead and make a sequel, here's a tip Hollywood, don't jump ahead and make a sequel till you know that the first film goes well, if it does goes for it, I'm always itching to see what happens after the first film ends.

Agreed, Shawn. I was just about to bring up Planes myself. At least wait till you know the film was well-recieved before making a sequel, otherwise that Cash Cow will going to run dry!
Like said, Film looks like an enjoyable one and I may see it in Cinemas. That’s Liam Neeson as Bad Cop then?

Reviews are coming in for The LEGO Movie on Rotten Tomatoes. It looks good. REALLY good. As of right now 41 reviews are counted and only 1 is negative. So I think that may be worth seeing.
