Family guy has killed off one of its beloved characters. Brian Griffin. He was struck and hit by a car in season 12 episode which aired last night. RIP. He is replaced with a new dog naked Vinnie, who is voiced by "Sopranos" star Tony Sirico.

O.O u GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! Killing off a fan favorite. Yes he's a dog but that doesn't mean they can kill him off as if he has rabies, (besides, he'd get an STD before getting that ).

I wish he was kidding, but he's not. Seth MacFarlane even said that this was a way to make sure that Family Guy would end as he secretly wanted the show to go as he believed it surpassed its time. I believe he said that 5 seasons of the Family Guy was enough. Also, producers of the show also said that killing off one of the Griffin Kids *coughs*Meg*coughs* would be too traumatic. So they decided that Brian meeting his demise was plausible.
But man, you should have seen Twitter last night too! After the episode aired, Twitter was cluttered with backlash from angry fans. Some said that they'll stop watching Family Guy and boycott it, whilst others started petitions to bring Brian back on the show as he was the only character that made the show interesting to watch.
But as you can see in future episodes of Season 12, you see Brian's name in the titles. "Brian's A Bad Father" and "Brian the Closer". Fans spectulate that Brian would return later in the season, but we don't know for sure. People say that Brian could return before those episodes air, while others say it's going to be a flashback episode.

Well, thanks a lot for spoiling the newest episode, which I haven't seen yet!
Though, they have killed off other characters in the series like Mr. Weed and Francis Griffin. Brian, however, is one of the main characters, and one of the most popular, so how could they?

Yikes! I was not expecting that!
I don't know though. They had Lois and Stewie die in "Stewie Kills Lois" and "Lois Kills Stewie" and it just turned out to be a virtual reality sim, so I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.

Usually on Family Guy when they introduce a new character, they usually decide that things aren't working out, the character leaves, and things go back to normal. Though with Vinny, it looks like he's staying in the cast permanently, and this could change the intro. Either that of Family Guy will finally get canceled, which is something Seth MacFarlane has been considering doing for a couple years.

In Brian's case, the apparent desire was in this line. "Who's leg do ya have to hump to get a dry martini around here?"
I guess with Seth McFarlane it was, " Which Griffin do ya have to kill to end this long show?" At least he's trying to end the show before it gets REALLY bad. Like Two and a Half Men bad, or worse. (Brian was one source of comedy, (but there's still Peter, Quag, Chris, and pretty much everyone else), and intellect, (but there's still Stewie and Lois), and I will definitely miss him, (even though I don't watch TV as much anymore).)

They'll probably just bring Brian back in a few episodes and then they'll get more "Brian's Back" headlines to match all the "Brian's Dead" one.
2007 Me would give a sh*t about Family Guy, 2013 me doesn't. Brian was my favorite character, I even had a Family Guy themed vanity plate on my car themed after it, but he became such a loudmouth liberal mouthpiece I really don't care anymore.

This is quite a surprising move to make, I will say! Especially when they have had episodes which focus on how much Stewie cares for Brian.
I did hear that Seth wants to make a Flintstones show, so maybe Family Guy being put on hold is giving him a chance to do that? How long do you think it will be before a snap back?

Won't this cause a continuity error? According to the episode where Stewie went into the future to see his future family, they said that Brian died from eating chocolate out of a trash can.
Also, where does it say Seth is officially ending the show?

Oh? I've never heard of this. It's MacFarlane, not McFarland. Good. Let's hope he cancels "American Dad!" too. Both of those shows sucked.

a lot of fan theories on Brian's death, who was the murderer? who was behind the wheel of the car that killed him? Was it Vinnie? or was it Quagmire? Quagmire seems to be the logical choice since Vinnie has a solid alibi since he was in the pound at the time of Brian's death. That and Quagmire was too busy watching a baseball game to care about Brian's funeral
