Since Harold Ramis' death, I thought I'd start a topic on this movie. In my opinion, one of the quintessential 80's movies.
Now, there have been rumors going around that there was going to be a "Ghostbusters 3", and the original actors were going to play the Ghostbusters. I guess now that Egon is gone, that's not happening.
However, I have been hearing rumors that they were going to be remaking Ghostbusters. One rumor I heard from James Rolfe is that more modern actors like Ben Stiller were going to play the Ghostbusters. Another rumor I heard is that the writers of "The Office" were going to write the movie. If this were true, I think I have a pretty good prediction as to who I think would suit the roles of the characters:
Peter: Ben Stiller Ray: Kevin James Egon: Rainn Wilson Winston: Chris Rock Janine: Sarah Chalke Dana: Courtney Cox Louis: Steve Carell
Think that sounds like an appropriate cast if a Ghostbusters remake were to be made today? I was originally thinking of having Will Farrell play Egon, but then I thought that would be an extremely major insult to Harold Ramis!

I think I will take a cue from Mr. Rolfe and just reach the 80s classic instead of see the new movie.
I don't care how much Dan Aykroyd was paid to endorse it the trailer looks bad.

I understand feminists are attacking James Rolfe for his comments on the Ghostbusters Trailer

I plan to go see it anyway. It actually looks pretty good in my perspective. I even heard that some of the cast from the original film are going to make cameos in this one.

I don't know why or if this is true, but if the trailer is going to be bad, then the movie is going to be good, the opposite if the trailer is good then the movie itself is bad. *Looks toward the film and it's Trailer Batman and Robin.*

I don' think that is the case, Shawn. I have seen Good Films, with Good Trailrs, and Vice Vers.
The point of one is also suppose to make us wish to see a film, so they need to be good, You Know?
They also claim; "The bst jkes are in the Trailer", so if the humour in the trailer looks bad, what does that also claim for the Film?
You Know what I mean, Shawn?

I've been meaning to go see this film, but now I'm having second thoughts as I heard it's getting a lot of bad reviews.

The movie is officially a bomb guys. It only made $117 million here in the US and $180 worldwide. Still a few more markets to hit but now like babclayman says it's future will be in a cartoon spin-off. It's definitely not getting a sequel. uproxx.com/gammasquad/how-much-money-ghostbusters-lost/

Then that must mean 101 Dalmatians was a bomb too. Because that film only made $60 million. Granted that was a lot more money back then, and even though it did earn 15 times its budget, by today's standards, that would be nothing! So painful to know the truth.

Not at all. 101 Dalmatians earned a huge profit for Disney and that is the measure of success. Also $60 million was like $415 million in today's money. Still more than Ghostbusters.

101 was the highest grossing film of the 1960s when adjusted for inflation. Belchic you've got to think big picture.
