I remember watching a review of Ice Age: Collision Course and the critic said that the story behind the franchise was more or less told after the first, or maybe second, film. The only reason to continue going back to the Ice Age world is for the jokes. He also said the kids were laughing loudly at what was going on.
Still, he does say if you're not in grade school, the movie is a struggle to sit through.

Trolls is opening this weekend. Right now, it currently has a 78% on Rotten Tomatoes, so there's a chance AniMatt will enjoy it. I guess we'll see if it changes between now and then.

My mom and I were discussing Trolls.
She says it looks stupid and I told her I was reading some reviews that say it seems like a movie meant strictly for little kids. How long do you think a very little kid's attention span is anyway?
If you want more info about it, it could have been rated G if not for some mild rude humor. An example is in one trailer one character gets scared and loses their cupcakes and then another character picks them up, puts them on a plate and asks "Cupcake?"
Still going to wait for Moana.

That's strange. I've actually been hearing some good reviews about Trolls. Right now, it's score on RT has shot up to 86%.
Also, that joke you mentioned, Trey, is a perfect example of that one cliche I can't stand that I mentioned.

Trolls still seems to be doing very well. It came out yesterday. AniMatt should have his review of the film in about a week.

Trolls still seems to be doing very well. It came out yesterday. AniMatt should have his review of the film in about a week. Yes he did. Wanna know what he had to say? The Story: 3/10 The Animation: 9/10 The Characters: 3/10 Trolls (2016): 5/10 - Mediocre! He says the story is very basic and something appropriate for little kids but it gets annoying when they try to make it seem hip. He also says the characters aren't that great either because unlike movies like Toy Story or The Lego Movie where they feature toy characters that actually seem like characters, the characters in Trolls are just living commercial products--they're just there to speak on behalf of stores like Target, Wal-Mart, Toys 'R Us, etc. so kids will have something to put on their Christmas lists. I will say this though--at least it didn't get his Seal of Garbage.

So it sounds like as of right now, Trolls currently ranks as AniMatt's #5 worst animated film of the year. This puts it above Ratchet & Clank, The Wild Life, Ice Age: Collision Course and Norm of the North.

As of right now, 27 animated films that were released this year have been submitted to be approved for Oscar nominations including the ones that haven't been released yet.
AniMatt just gave his predictions on what might get nominated, and here are his predictions:
Zootopia Kubo and the Two Strings Finding Dory The Red Turtle My Life as a Zucchini
I see he also took notice that the Oscars always put one or two independent films in the Best Animated Feature category.
As for Secret Life of Pets, he doesn't think that one has a chance, and his reason is just: "Let's face it: There are better animated films out there." That's a stupid excuse. While I admit Pets may not be the most critically acclaimed animated film of the year, but it does have a huge fan base and seems to be very merchandise-driven as of today.

Things like fan base/box-office gross/toys on store shelves have nothing to do with Best Animated Feature. I will say that I did get to see Ice Age: Collision Course. Yeah it's pretty listless and for all they could have done to make a gripping story they squandered it for a bunch of dumb jokes. Anyway, something else I should bring to you guys' attention: for the special features they list an " Ice Age on Ice" show. See it for yourself here: www.iceageonice.com/

Makes me think of how, the one who mde the; Food Fght Film though the Film would get so large, they plan to make a Food Fght On Ice Show! You remember hearing on that, Pups!?
I do question about the Ice Ag one...From what I see...do the Ice Ag films even have Ice, in the more recnt ones!? How do you do the slp stck on Ice!?
For Belchic's list there, while I do agre that; Zootopia & Finding Dory shall get on the lst, Is there a day, which a Film needs to air, in order to make the list? Does that mean; Moana shall be on nxt year's list, or can it make it on to this year!?

No, bab. Moana is not eligible for next year's list. The nominees can only be films that were released in 2016, and next year's would have to be only 2017 releases. That's the rule. That's how it's always been.
As for all the "On Ice" adaptations, it's really strange that a lot of critically-bashed animated films are getting these. I hear The Nut Job is getting one too.

Oscars are decided by a vote and there campaigns for them like any election. Disney has already launched a full-on Oscar campaign for "Zootopia"... www.zootopianewsnetwork.com/2016/11/film-awards-season-begins-and-zootopia.html...The categories it is pursuing are Best Picture, Best Animated Feature, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song. Best Animated Feature and maybe Best Original Song seem the most likely categories for a nomination. The other three are long shots but who knows. "Zootopia" was inadvertently well-timed enough this year so it could get an upset nomination in one of those other categories ("Inside Out" previously was nominated for Original Screenplay last year but lost). I don't know if "Moana's" campaign has started yet. They'll likely wait until the film comes out first but all indications are it's good.
