I can say there looks to be a good roster of animated films there. Probably going to make up for the limited number from this year. Now that we are in 2016, Trey_Vore, do you have any thoughts so far on these upcoming films?

Since we're more than halfway through the year, and since I've been seeing trailers for next year's animated films, I decided to do some research and see if I can find out what we've got coming up next year. I've listed what I've found so far and am giving my first initial thoughts on them. --- Norm of the North - Oh, this isn't Ice Age? The Nut Job 2 - Another one already? Kung Fu Panda 3 - I'm staying optimistic. Sly Cooper - I'll pass. Zootopia - Gotta see this one! The Little Prince - Money's on No. Ratchet & Clank - Still not interested. Angry Birds - Oh, brother! Finding Dory - Bring it on! The Secret Life of Pets - This looks funny. Ice Age 5: Collision Course - STOP, ALREADY! Sausage Party - What the hell is this? Kubo and the Two Strings - Sounds awesome! Storks - NOW they're releasing this? Equestria Girls 4 - Not another one! Henchmen - This actually sounds pretty dark! Yellow Brick Road - Geez! How many more of these do we need? Trolls - They made a movie out of this? Moana - I'm still having doubts. Animal Crackers - Weird, but maybe. Auntie Claus - Guess we got another for the Santa Claus Theory. Spark - Epic! Untitled Illumination Film - Let's wait until we have a title first. --- Keep in mind, this list is subject to change. Well now that we are in 2016, this is my thoughts on the upcoming animated films of 2016: Norm of the North - Nope, sorry. Anomalisa - Is this animation? Kung Fu Panda 3 - Oh yeah baby! Zootopia - Bring it on! The Little Prince - Ah oui, s'il vous plait. Ratchet and Clank - Awesome! The Angry Birds Movie - Stranger was done. Finding Dory - Eh... not interested. The Secret Life of Pets - Got my attention. Ice Age: Collision Course - Let it die! Sausage Party - We'll see. Kubo and the Two Strings - Cool. Storks - I'll probably pass. Trolls - Say WHAAAAAAAT? Moana - Go Disney go! Sing - Seems promising. Now for the rest on Belchic's list: The Nut Job 2 - Oh no you didn't... Sly Cooper - Must see! Henchmen - Maybe. Yellow Brick Road - Needs a rest. Animal Crackers - Bizarre. Spark - I remember these.

Anomalisa seems to be an adult Animation Film, and is Stop Motion...That seems to be more a 2015 Film, though.
With Sing...It seems like a mix of The Feline Film and a bit of the Producers too. Also, get it? He hires a Black Sheep! Black Sheep of the Family!?
Though, It seems Wreck-It Ralph, shall be playing this Black Sheep.
Seth MacFarlane seems to be in the Film too, and he does, at leas, have a good singing voice.
I am a bit...Eh, on Sing, though.
I do intend to see, Zootopia, Finding Dory, and Moana, though! ;3
The Ice Age one just seems to be jumping the shark now, though, doesn' it? Is there even ICE in the Films, at this point, May I ask?

I tried looking up Anomalisa and Sing on IMDb, but I found absolutely no info for either, so I don't know where either of these films came from.

Here's what I say to Ice Age: KILL IT WITH FIRE! (Seriously why are they wasting time on that long dead franchise; nobody wants it).
Zootopia I'm certainly interested in mostly for the anthropomorphic animals. Most other animated films on that list I'm uncertain of either cause of distaste or...just unsure. (Angry Birds sounds stupid to make a film out of, but I haven't played R&C in a long while).
I'm anxious for Sly honestly. And, I know it's not exactly an animated but Warcraft looks okay but I'm no WoW fan.

So I just looked up those other two films.
It turns out this Anomalisa film has already been released, but just barely at the end of 2015, so this would make it a 2015 film, but it was a very last minute entry.
So with that in mind, here's my updated list and initial thoughts:
---
Anomalisa - Yeesh! Creepy! Norm of the North - Oh, this isn't Ice Age? The Nut Job 2 - Another one already? Kung Fu Panda 3 - I'm staying optimistic. Sly Cooper - I'll pass. Zootopia - Gotta see this one! The Little Prince - Money's on No. Ratchet & Clank - Still not interested. Angry Birds - Oh, brother! Finding Dory - Bring it on! The Secret Life of Pets - This looks funny. Ice Age 5: Collision Course - STOP, ALREADY! Sausage Party - What the hell is this? Kubo and the Two Strings - Awesome! Storks - NOW they're releasing this? Equestria Girls 4 - Not another one! Henchmen - This actually sounds pretty dark! Yellow Brick Road - Geez! How many more of these do we need? Trolls - They made a movie out of this? Moana - I still don't get what the hype is all about. Animal Crackers - Weird, but maybe. Spark - Epic! Sing - Why not?
---
So of those 23 films, I'm interested in seeing:
Kung Fu Panda 3 Zootopia Finding Dory The Secret Life of Pets Kubo and the Two Strings Storks Henchmen Moana Animal Crackers Spark Sing
Man, this is going to be an awesome year for animated films! Though its kind of weird that most of the ones I'm not interested seem to be getting a lot of hype from everyone else.

Here goes guys: we just got our first animated film of the year, Norm of the North.
Per what happens with a January release, these tend to be very bad. Recent movies like Escape from Planet Earth, The Nut Job and Strange Magic kinda come to mind.
Norm of the North is no exception, it's looking really bad. On Rotten Tomatoes right now it has a score of 5%.
So I'll do this DOA a favor by skipping it and waiting for Kung Fu Panda 3.

Kung Fu Panda 3 is a weird exception to January as a dump month. It was scheduled for a December release but moved back to avoid being blown out of the water by Star Wars.

That is possible, look what happen to the Fourth Chip Munk Film, which open on the same day.
Alvin barely makes two thirds of its budget, while Force Awakens makes more than a billion, in the same time.
You would think, the Chip Mnks Films are trying some Producers like plan, Eh?

@race: I don't get why people are saying that all January releases have to be bad. That's totally not true. I mean, 101 Dalmatians was a January release, but that was a good movie! babclayman: Like I told you, it's a tradition to release the Chipmunks movies around Christmastime. But please, could we try to stay on topic in this topic?

Well, It's often traditional to have Star Wars in Cinema in May, but Force Awakens comes on Christmas time too.
Also, who was really asking for a Fourth Alvin Film, too?

Well, Cinem Snob and Obsurus Lupa have just seen Norm of the North, and here is their first reaction.
It’s basically a Cliché Film and it’s filled with too much exposition. They claim, the Film is basically Trailer Scenes, with the Lemming as Want To Be Minions (who themselves are taken from the Aliens, in Toy Story).
They also seem to have what you expect in most awkward Animation these days, when they try to make the next Gang Man Style, called: The Arctic Shake, but it becomes a force meme.
The film is basically the Flanderisation of a Stereotype of a Family Film.
As Trey claims, probably pass on Norm, Eh?

Indeed. Also I just rechecked Rotten Tomatoes and it is now back to where it was the first time I checked: a flipping 0%!
AniMat just reviewed the movie and he was NOT kind to it. He says this:
"The writing is abysmal. The environmental message is obnoxious. The story is predictably unpleasant. The animation is disgusting. The humor is at its worst and the characters have either no brain or no purpose!"
He also makes note of jokes that either are destined to date the film badly or are just too stupid and immature for a Happy Madison movie.
The Story: 1/10 The Animation: 2/10 The Characters: 2/10
Norm of the North (2016): 2/10 - Terrible!
No shock - Seal. Of. Garbage.
I am going to say at least Strange Magic had a reliable story that was handled very poorly and it has to say something if he was kinder to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
Calling it now. #1 on his Worst list.

I am going to say that I did get to see Kung Fu Panda 3 last night. And? Well there is a reason why the Kung Fu Panda movies stand as some of DreamWorks's best. So yeah guys after the embarrassment that was Norm of the North, we needed a good animated film and we got one.

I think I'll pass on Kung-Fu Panda 3. Based on what I saw in the previews, it seems to focus heavily on Po and the other pandas while the Furious 5 don't seem to be in it at all. That kind of drew my interest in seeing it away, but I might still rent it when it comes out on DVD.
