CHAPTER 1: The Dream
For 3 years , Edward has done his job well as a firedog. Around his community, he is praised for his act of heroism of saving people trapped in various fires that happen. One night, he is deep asleep at his home. As he opens his eyes, he wakes up in a dream world
"Where am I?", he says to himself. He then sees a spirit in front of him.
"Hello Edward", the spirit says. "I am the Outsider. I have a message for you, a message that will affect your days to come. You see Edward. You have a brother you never knew. Another dalmatian like yourself. As old as you are. He has a family of his own and he wears a red collar. I do not know his name. But I can tell you he is somewhere around Grutely, and that he will be a part of your dalmatian history"
The Outsider dissapears. Edward wakes up the next morning. I have a brother? He thought. He sees his owner, James Wayland, getting ready to go outside.
"I'll be out for quite long Edward", James says to his pet. "I'll lock the door"
James leaves and locks the door. Edward looks out the window, wondering where is his brother, who is he, and why he might be a part of his "dalmatian history". He even thinks about this "dalmatian history", what is it? Does it involve the history of dalmatians from they were born until their death? Maybe. An hour passes, Edward becomes bored. He just can't get it out of his head, the thought of having an unknown brother and trying to find him. He decides to go to the park to try to clear his mind
CHAPTER 2: Meeting Your Double
Pongo and Perdita are accompanying their children at the nearby park. They enjoy the breeze of the air there. Rolly then comes by
"Mom? Dad?", Rolly says to his parents
"Yes son?", Pongo says. "What is it?"
"Lucky's gone again. I can't find him anywhere"
"I'll find him. I'll be right back Perdy", Pongo tells his wife as he goes to find Lucky
Meanwhile, Edward is seen near the pond in the park. He looks at his relflection in the water. He looks at himself wondering if he'll find his brother in Grutely. As he is about to walk, he bumps into Lucky, who is lost.
"Oh dad! There you are!", Lucky says to Edward, mistaking Edward for his father
"What? Kid, I'm not your father. You've mistaken me for someone else"
Pongo arrives near the pond. He sees Edward from behind. "Excuse me sir, have you seen my son?"
Edward turns his back. He looks at Pongo, who is shocked himself. Apart from the fact that Edward wears a dark red collar and a gray golf hat, they look very similar. Lucky looks at the both of them in confusement. The 2 adult dalmatians are staring at each other in shock.
"We look....", Pongo says
"...similar", Edward responds. "Brother?"
"Brother?", Pongo asks in confusement. "You must be mistaken sir. I don't have a brother"
Edward doesn't seem to believe so. "Thing is, I had a dream. I was told that my brother would be in Grutely. He wears a red collar just like you do. And that he has a family, and...that he might impact my 'dalmatian history'. Is this your son?". He points to Lucky
"Yes he is", Pongo says. "I'm sorry to say but I don't have a brother. I don't recall having one... I'm sorry but I didn't catch your name yet"
"Edward"
"Well Edward. It's nice to see a dalmatian like yourself, but I don't believe we're related. I better go home now"
Pongo and Lucky leave the park with their family. Later at the Dearly farm, Pongo gets some rest eventhough it's still afternoon. He then wakes up in a dream world of his own.
"What the!?", Pongo says to himself. He then sees the Outsider in front of him.
"Hello Pongo", the Outsider greets him. "I suppose you met Edward?"
"How do you know?"
"I know many things Pongo. I know that he is your brother. You just never knew him ever since you became Roger Dearly's dog"
"How is he my brother?", Pongo asks, demanding an explanation
The Outsider takes him back to the past, many years ago in London. Pongo sees a flashback of him and Edward as puppies in a pet shop.
"Is that me?", Pongo asks the Outsider, who nods his head. Pongo then sees the puppy version of him being adopted by a younger Roger, leaving the puppy version Edward.
"Does that explain everything to you?", the Outsider says to Pongo as he closes the flashback.
"Edward is my brother?", Pongo asks
"Yes he is", the Outsider answers. "And I suggest you wake up. Someone wants to see you"
Pongo wakes up from his dream with the Outsider. He sees Edward in front of him.
"Uh hi there", Edward says to him. "Sorry I followed you here to this farm, I haven't gotten your name yet"
Pongo smiles as he looks at him. "My name is Pongo, and you were right Edward, I am your brother"
Edward can only smile at this statement
CHAPTER 3: Better Get Used to It
Pongo tells the 101 dalmatians about Edward being his brother. The explanation was complicated but the pups became excited when they learn that Edward is a firedog. Edward is now relaxing in the barn, Lucky, Rolly, Cadpig, Spot and a few other pups approach him
"Hi uncle Edward", Lucky says to him
"So you're calling me uncle huh Lucky?", Edward says to the horse shoed pup. "Call me Edward"
"Okay Edward. Hey, can you tell us a story?"
"A story? About what?"
"Your dalmatian history", Rolly says
Edward sighs at this. "Dalmatian history. I keep hearing that. What does it mean?"
Lucky smiles. "It's like the history of a dalmatian throughout his/her life"
"Yes. I'm curious about your history Edward", Cadpig adds
"If you guys want to know about dalmatian history, why don't you ask your father's? I mean, he's a dalmatian too"
"Nah", Lucky says. "All the history he did was save us from that Cruella De Vil with mom. You're a firedog Edward! And that's cool"
The pups and Spot sit as they prepare themselves for Edward telling about his "dalmatian history". Edward chuckles, and tells them about his life as a firedog. Pongo sees this from a distance. Perdita comes by
"What's wrong dear?", Perdita asks her husband
"Edward's only been here for an hour, and he's gotten the attention of the kids", Pongo says to her. "I mean, how come they never wanted me to tell them stories? Or this 'dalmatian history' I hear Lucky say earlier?". Pongo asks in dissapointment. Come to think of it, his kids haven't spoke to him ever since they knew Edward
"Maybe they just want to know him dear. You better get used to it. Don't worry, they'll bound to talk to you soon"
But Perdita was wrong. The dalmatian pups haven't spoken to Pongo at all. When it was time to watch TV, they called Edward to accompany them. When it was time to eat, they called Edward. Even when playing, they called Edward to join in, and it's something Pongo wasn't ever talked about joining in by his kids
Pongo is upset. Too upset. He can't stand the ignorement from his kids....because of Edward
CHAPTER 4: The Wrath
The dalmatians are asleep, eventhough it's afternoon. They're tired after playing with Edward. Not Pongo though. He's upset that he's active. He finds Edward outside the barn, looking at the bright sky
"Edward". Pongo says to him
"Ah brother. You aren't asleep?". Edward asks him. Suddenly, he is pounched by him. Edward lays on the ground, with Pongo looking at him in total anger
"What's wrong with you!?", Edward shouts to Pongo
"Do NOT call me your brother anymore!", Pongo shouts to Edward. "What kind of brother steals his own brother's kids from him!?"
"What are you talking about!?"
"Ever since you came to this farm, my kids have paid more attention to YOU rather than ME. I've known them longer than you but they like you more!"
"Stop it!", Edward pushes Pongo away from him, but Pongo bites him on his left leg
An angry Pongo looks at Edward. "Go away from this farm Edward! Now"
Edward looks at Pongo sadly. He then leaves the farm and goes away from Pongo's sight. Pongo breaths heavily. He never felt this mad before.
"That's taken care of", he says to himself as he turns around and proceeds to get into the barn. But there's a problem.
Perdita and the dalmatians are in front of him. Unknown to him, they were watching and listening his fight with Edward
"Kids...", Pongo says nervously. "Why aren't you asleep?"
Lucky takes a step forward. Dissapointment, sadness and anger is in his eyes. "How could you dad!? Edward was a dalmatian just like us! He was a firedog which was cool and I idolized him! I can't believe you would fight your own brother!
"Son..." Pongo says
But Lucky cuts him off. "No! I don't want to talk to you!". He yells at his father and storms back into the barn. The other dalmatians look at Pongo in disgust because of his previous actions towards Edward and follow Lucky into the barn. Perdita comes forward to Pongo, and looks him in the eye. He realizes he messed up after he hears Lucky crying.
"You should apologize to Edward, Pongo. Now". Perdita says to her husband
Pongo lowers his head. "Yes dear", he says to her, then goes to find Edward
CHAPTER 5: The Emergency
Fortunately for Pongo, it didn't take him long to find Edward. He sees his brother sitting on a small hill overlooking Topstown
"Edward?", Pongo says as he sits beside him
Edward gives Pongo a cold look, still upset about what happened at the barn before. "What do you want?"
"I wanna say I'm...." Pongo says. But he is cut off when Spot arrives panickly
"Spot?", Edward asks the chicken. "Why are you here?"
"Emergency!", Spot says in panic. "The pups have been kidnapped!"
"What!?", Edward and Pongo shout at the same time
"Who did it!?", Pongo asks Spot, demanding answers
"I don't know!", Spot says. "But there were 2 of them, wearing black jackets"
"Where were they going?", Edward asks Spot
"Judging by the fact I followed them secretly, I know they were holding the pups in an old apartment building in Topstown"
"Come on Pongo. Let's go get your kids!", Edward says to Pongo
"But Edward...", Pongo says
"Look, what you have to say to me can wait. Right now, we have to save your pups"
Pongo complies to Edward's words. The 2 dalmatians then go to the old apartment building in Topstown
CHAPTER 6: The Blaze
Pongo and Edward arrive at the old apartment building. The building looks like it hasn't been occupied for years. They go in through the side window. They're on the first floor, and they see the kidnappers with the dalmatian pups, who are in cages.
"Hey Lenny. You think the owners of these pups will pay the ransom?", one kidnapper asks his partner
"They've got to, Benny", Lenny says to his partner. "With these 99 dalmatians, I can guarentee the ransom might come in big pay"
So that's Lenny and Benny's plan, kidnap the dalmatians so the Dearlys will have to pay a ransom to get them back. Pongo then jumps in, standing in front of Lenny and Benny with anger. Edward then joins Pongo
"Edward!?", Lenny says, then smirks. "Never knew you came here. So these pups are yours? By the way, do you remember me?"
Edward looks at Lenny, then gets a flashback. A month ago, Lenny tried to rob the Wayland home, and Edward bit him on the neck.
"You're gonna pay for what you did to my neck!", Lenny then attacks Edward, who fights back in a stuggle. Pongo manages to scare Benny, who then opens the pups' cages so he won't be bitten by Pongo, and runs off. Edward and Lenny break out of their struggle, then Lenny pulls out a lighter"
"If you can save people from fires, let's see you save yourself and these rotten dalmatians!". Lenny says as he turns on the lighter and uses it to burn the apartment building. Lenny runs off. The fire starts to grow. Edward has Pongo and the dalmatian pups follow him outside.
"Is that everyone?", Edward asks Pongo
"I think so..", Pongo says counting his children. Then he realizes something: Lucky's not here.
"Help!", Lucky's voice cries for help. He's still trapped in the burning building. Pongo tries to get inside the building, but Edward runs into the building first. In the building, Lucky's foot is trapped under a chuck of wood. Edward comes in and frees him. Lucky runs out of the building first.
"Lucky!", Pongo says as he hugs his son. "Where's Edward!?"
The building let's out a flame, and Edward flies out the window, crashing into the ground. Pongo and the dalmatians come to his aid
"Edward!", Pongo says to his brother.
Much to his shock, Edward chuckles. "Don't worry Pongo, I'm used to fires"
Pongo can only feel grateful that his children are safe and Edward helped him save them
CHAPTER 7: Dalmatian History X
Edward gets treatment from the vet, who comes to the farm after Roger sees him with a burn on his chest and calls the vet. The burn isn't that bad though, it only needed a few stitches. Edward comes out of the vet's van with Pongo.
"Edward. Thank you for saving my kids". Pongo thanks him. "About that fight...I'm sorry I acted that way"
"I don't have a grudge againest that Pongo. I forgive you", Edward says to Pongo as the two go to the barn, where the pups and Spot greet them.
"Edward! dad!", Lucky says to them, then looks at Edward's scar. The scar is in black and is in the shape of an "X". "Woah! cool scar Edward!"
"Thanks Lucky, I guess", Edward says laughing.
"Wow, looks like your history with our dad should be called 'Dalmatian History X', huh Edward?". Rolly says as a joke about Edward's scar
"Rolly!", Lucky, Cadpig and Spot say to him.
"Sorry", Rolly says
Edward smiles at them. "I'd love to hang out with you all much longer, but I have to go home, my owner is probably waiting for me"
"Before you go home Edward, can we take pictures with you? For you as a memory?", Spot says as she takes out a camera
"Sure"
Edward takes various photos with Pongo, the pups and Spot. Edward keeps the photos, and says goodbye to them as he goes home, while telling them that he'll be back again someday. At the barn, Lucky keeps a portrait of Edward, his signature and pawprint. Lucky hangs up the portrait of Edward next to Thunderbolt's, and puts a plank with Edward's name on the portrait. Pongo can smile at this, he never knew his brother would be idolized by his son. Meanwhile, Edward arrives at his home, and hangs up his pictures with the pups and Spot on the wall. He then hangs a white banner below the pictures, then writes "DALMATIAN HISTORY X" on it with black and red paint. He smiles at the pictures, knowing those pictures capture the dalmatian history, he had with Pongo, the pups and Spot
The End
