I feel it's time to bring this up because I have something to say about an upcoming film of next year...
So I just saw AniMatt do a podcast about the upcoming Emoji Movie. It sounds like he already has doubts about it. There are some problems with the main characters:
The main character looks like a PAC Man rip-off.
There's a character with a lack of originality.
There's a female character that's getting a lot of controversy because she's the only character that wears clothes, and people are finding that stereotypical.
Remember what I said about the last movie cliche I couldn't stand of poop jokes? Well, this movie is taking it to the nth degree because they have a character based on the most popular Emoji: the piece of poop with the smiley face on it! To make matters worse, his name is Poop Daddy!
This upcoming movie has me nervous because it's being made by Sony, and after they did so well with Despicable Me and The Secret Life of Pets, I fear this movie will hurt their reputation, just like how the Ice Age sequels are hurting Blue Sky's reputation!
---
I will share my first initial thoughts on the upcoming films when we get closer to New Years Day.

This upcoming movie has me nervous because it's being made by Sony, and after they did so well with Despicable Me and The Secret Life of Pets, I fear this movie will hurt their reputation, just like how the Ice Age sequels are hurting Blue Sky's reputation! The Despicable Me movies were a joint between Universal and Illumination Entertainment, not Sony. Sony did Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Hotel Transylvania, if that says anything about its likely quality.

I keep getting Sony and Illumination mixed up. I thought they were called Sony/Illumination Pictures at first.
Though seeing what Sony is really in charge of, I can tell what to expect out of this one now!

I know it's not the end of the year yet, but it's pretty close. I'll update this list if I hear of any changes, but as of right now, here's what I currently think of what 2017 has to offer:
1/20: The Red Turtle - After the reviews I've heard, it's possible. 2/10: The Lego Batman Movie - Not sure. 2/24: Rock Dog - Should be cute. 3/10: The Boss Baby - Are they even trying anymore? 3/31: Smurfs: The Lost Village - Maybe. 4/14: Spark - This looks cool. 4/21: Animal Crackers - Might have potential. 5/19: Nut Job 2 - I'll wait for the DVD. 6/2: Captain Underpants - HELL, NO! 6/16: Cars 3 - Doubt. 6/30: Despicable Me 3 - HELL, YEAH! 8/4: Blazing Samurai - Awesome sauce! 8/11: The Emoji Movie - No...Just...No! 9/22: Ninjago - Haven't seen the show, so probably not. 10/6: My Little Pony - Shut up and take my money! 11/22: Coco - We'll see. 12/8: The Star - Don't screw this up, Sony! 12/22: Ferdinand - Here's hoping.

We have a teaser trailer for Boss Baby right now. Based on what it is, the film doesn't look very promising, especially considering it's coming from Dreamworks. I've always said that Dreamworks is sort of a hit/miss studio, so it is likely this film will be one of their misses.

I just hear about this one, you are posting about, Belchic.
This is like when on a Television Show, the characters watch a some what parod Advert of a coming Film. It looks like one of those!
I do wish to see both Cars & Coco. From what I hear, the Cars one is going to be more on the emotional level, with Lightning thinking on his career. I also think, it may have, what looks like Daytna, in the Concept Images, too.
You Know, what I mean, Pups?

It air on Monday, I notice! o.o But, I can see what you mean...My reaction to it is like; "DARN!".
I think we also have an Image of who his some what Protege shall be in the Film, too.
We have an advert for the Lego Batmn Film, don' we? The Trailr has them making Homages to the other tellings of Batmn, so I wonder if there shall be a lot of Slf Reference Humou in it.
Have you seen the Concept Images of; Coco, Pups? ;3

I wouldn't trust that trailer so much. You know how Pixar is with their teasers. I still kind of have doubts about this Cars movie since Cars 2 was a major bust, I think making it the next Toy Story 3 would be a tall order.

I'm surprised they're doing a Captain Underpants movie, if it's actually gonna be based on the children's "comic" series, and even coming from someone who's read those books as a kid...I'm gonna say NOPE. About the one film I know is coming out next year that I am interested in, (okay Animated film), would be Despicable Me 3. I did relatively enjoy the first, haven't seen the second, (too many minions), and I did not want to see Minions, so why the 3rd? Not just because of Trey Parker being present but Balthazar Bratt, the villain he voices, seems like so much fun. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DBi41reeF0 If anything I hope the music in the trailer actually plays during that part of the film. And I agree, the Emoji movie is doomed to fail, whoever came up with that idea needs to be fired from Hollywood.

It's not really a Comic, Lupus. They are Family Books, I think from the U K. I think, it's about how some children hyponotse their Principl, in to thinking he is a Super Hero, that they cme up with.
I know what you mean, with the Emoj Film, though. With Angr Birds, there is at leas some kind of Story to the Games. From what I hear, The Story of the Emoj Film is that; "The Lead is an Emoj, who is strange cause he is able to make more than one expression"! So, that may be some cause for concern, with the other Characters, if the poit of the Story is that the lead is the onl one to have more than one expression!
I can understand if it's a number of Internet Shrts, telling the Story of some Films using Emoj's, but an Emoj Film!?

Of the animated films coming out next year, the only four that I'm excited about are Rock Dog, Despicable Me 3, Blazing Samurai and the My Little Pony movie. Maybe if I see trailers to the others, I'll change my mind.

I've read the books before Bab. The series isn't strictly a comic book series but it has comics within the book. I can imagine that film only appealing to very young children; and this is coming from someone who once read and enjoyed the series as a child.
For the MLP film, since I haven't really been watching the show, (guess I lost interest), I won't be seeing the film.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I watched the trailer for the emoji movie and...oh geez is it dumb. I don't even think Uwe Boll can make a film THAT BAD and STUPID if he tried.

To be honest, I saw the Picture of the Emoji film and thought it was stupid from the start, I feel like this is Food Fight all over again, I wonder if this will make any actor or actress insane like Food Fight did with Charlie Sheen.

On the other hand, I saw a trailer for Despicable Me 3 when I went and saw Sing. I'm still looking forward to it, but judging by what I saw in the trailer, it looks like they're in danger of jumping the shark with this one. When it comes to movie trilogies, the third one usually is the worst one, but there have been some exceptions like Toy Story 3, which ended up becoming the Citizen Kane of animated films.
