To answer your question about Animal Crackers, bab: This is a movie that was supposed to come out last fall, then they pushed it to this coming April, and now they've moved it to September. I don't know why they keep delaying the release date of it, but hopefully they'll let us know soon.

Here we go, we just got the newest animated feature from DreamWorks: The Boss Baby.
When I first saw the poster, my initial thought was it is just screaming "high-concept". Imagine you put two people in one room and then you had both say the first thing that comes to their minds. One person says "Alec Baldwin" and the other person says "Rugrats"? Boom, you have The Boss Baby.
From what I understand though, it is a movie based on a book from Marla Frazee which was published during this decade about how having a child can turn parents' lives on their heads. The big brother character was added to the film and now the concept is about sibling rivalry.
They do try to make it seem like it's supposed to be a masterpiece on Pixar's level with the story and it's theme of love being an infinite force... but it doesn't seem to compensate for the one-joke premise and the contentedness to use dirty diaper jokes.
Oh and the big brother is named Tim, but the main character's name? He's never called anything other than "Boss Baby"!

I think I can understand a case of it being from the Parent perspective, but like you claim, Bss Bby feels more like a One Jke Film.
If it was a Shrt, Maybe, but, as I post before, it looks like one of those Films that the Characters in a st com would wtch, or some thing you would see at the strt of Tropcal Thunder.
So, you have seen the Film, Trey!?

We now have a trailer for the Ferdinand movie. It's been revealed that the title character is going to be voiced by professional wrestler, John Cena. Sounds like an interesting choice, but do you suppose Blue Sky is only doing this to capitalize on the success of Moana?

AniMatt has reviewed The Boss Baby. The scores he gave it were:
Story: 2/10 Animation: 7/10 Characters: 4/10
Overall: 4/10
Surprisingly, even though he did say plenty of good things about it, he still gave it his Seal of Garbage because he knows Dreamworks can do better than this, and I agree with him.
However, LewToons has ranked this movie as the best animated film of the year so far.

CellSpex didn't care for it either she prefers it over Home, which this movie is very reminiscent of.
So I'll just see Smurfs: the Lost Village instead.

At this point, I'm not sure if Mat will see Leap or Ozzy, and I'm still not sure if Blazing Samurai or Animal Crackers will come out this year, but I'm predicting...
Captain Underpants, Cars 3, Despicable Me 3 and Coco will be getting his Seal of Approval
Spark, the Emoji Movie, Nut Job 2 and Ninjago will get his Seal of Garbage.
He'll probably skip the MLP movie.

I can rightfully say that I'm not planning on seeing The Emoji Movie. It feels like a straight-to-DVD movie than a theatrical release.

Smurfs honestly looks like more fun. The Smurfs finally find all their species' girls vs. some toddler with a mismatched Alec Baldwin voice in a movie that tries to cop some of Lego Movie's "it's all in the kid's head" magic? I'd take the blue commies (also the first teaser for MLP's movie is attached to Smurfs...but its a 35-second teaser so I wouldn't go just for that). Admittedly I'm going to skip both and go see "Fate of the Furious" instead (which may as well be a cartoon at this point).
I really think you put too much stock in AniMat Belchic...

I really think you put too much stock in AniMat Belchic... ...and what is that supposed to mean?

I mean just because some amateur Canadian critic says a film is good or not doesn't mean it is.

So, you have seen the Film, Trey!? To be honest no bab. I haven't seen the movie but I was reading some professional reviews and that is what I gather. Apparently the staff at DreamWorks was thinning down their upcoming animated film roster like they canceled the musical set in the Outback and The Croods 2 but they keep The Boss Baby? The only reason I can foresee why is because that movie was probably too far in development so they had to get some money out of it, just like what happened with Shrek Forever After? I can't see any other reason. I do think that's a good description though. I remember once seeing an episode of Dinosaurs were Earl was put in charge of finding good new TV shows and in the middle of an ER type of show he liked a baby character and suggested that character be the star instead. What do you get? " Dr. Cuddlebunny, M.D."! XD I did see Smurfs: the Lost Village though. Definitely not art but probably the best Smurfs movie ever made.

Tomorrow we are getting Spark: A Space Tail.
It's hard for me to gauge. Other movies at least had reviews prior to the film's release but with this film there's not really any reviews I can read so that might be a problem.
I might skip this one.
