Here's a topic I've made to discuss 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure.
I know Flo and babclayman are huge fans of this movie.
Anyway, I wanted to bring up this topic because WatchMojo.com just made a Top 10 list of the worst DTV Disney Animated Sequels, as well as a list of the Top 10 best. Surprisingly, this 101 Dalmatians II made #4 on the BEST list! How awesome is that?

Actually, I'm not a big fan of this movie. In fact, I've stated on several occasions how it's a bad movie. Yes, I am a big fan of Patch and Thunderbolt, but that doesn't mean I am a big fan of it or even like it.

I myself do find the Film Good. It has good humour, a good cast and does offer some Character development for Patch, too.
I think, while the first "Animated" "101 Dalmatians" has the type of Spy Thrillr feel to it, "Patch's London Adventure" is more Adventure in its take.
One can also note, some Homages to; "101 Dalmatians The Series", in the Film, too. Such as the Dalmatians living on a Farm, and some claim the Thunderbolt Story is similar to the Episode; "Watch a For Flling Idols".
The onl actual critic, I have seen of the Film, is the ear colours. Like I claim, though, the reason is likely in order to make Patch stand out more.
One should also note, when the Nostlgi Critic wtch the Film, he express liking it, too. It's definitely one of the top Disney "Animated" Sequels! ;3 You remember that case, Pups!? ;3

I'll go into further detail on my thoughts on this sequel.
I've seen that it has gotten positive reviews from many people who have seen it, but even then, it's far, far away from being nearly as good as these people make it out to be. In fact, it's one of the worst sequels that DisneyToon Studios ever released. The story is weak, the dialogue is bad, the characters from the original are watered down, and it's a sequel to an animated Disney classic that was made decades ago with the involvement of Walt Disney.
This movie feels more like an extended pilot episode for a series reboot, which I think that's what they originally were going for, due to the quality of the animation (which is a lot better than the series that we got anyway) and the fact that it focuses mainly on just one pup, with the latter being something that is expected to be seen in an episode of the series and not in a movie, making the development of the other pups coming off as lacking. Also, they did too much to make Patch look different from the other pups by making him the only one with a black ear when the spot on his right eye in which he got his name from, is enough to make him look different from the other pups. I mean, I know the title of this sequel is called Patch's London Adventure, and it's mainly about Patch, but that's going too far, not to mention that it is a 101 Dalmatians movie, and something like this shouldn't be in a movie like that anyway.
I like the addition of Li'l Lightning, but he just seems to come out of nowhere, and the fact that he turned out to be a bad guy in the end and get defeated in the end really bugs me.
Just like other sequels to animated Disney films, this one lacks everything that its predecessor has: a compelling story, well-written dialogue, well-developed characters, animation with quality of an actual movie rather than with quality of a TV show, and a heart. I've taken a look at other reviews to this movie that are not-so-well-receptive, and the review of it done by CodedLockFilms is the review of it that I prefer the most.
Now, keep in mind that I am not forbidding anyone from liking this movie. If you like it (which I know that most people on here do, but that actually is mainly because it's a 101 Dalmatians movie), then that's okay. Just don't make it out to be as good as you claim it.
Also, most recently in the thread about the three female fans of Thunderbolt, I've revealed that Kathryn Beaumont (voice of Alice from Alice In Wonderland and Wendy from Peter Pan) did a character voice in this movie. This bit of information can be found in a few places on the Internet. In that thread, bab and I had a back-and-forth discussion on which character she voiced in it, but which character she voiced in it was never confirmed anywhere.

although this movie was good, I feel they could have used more of the Dalmatians other than the ones from the original movie (Lucky, Rolly, Penny, Pepper, Freckles, and Patch). I mean you got the pups from both the series and live action movie (Cadpig, Two-Tone, Dipstick, Wizzer, Jewel, Tripod, and Fidget) they could have at least made cameos in the background or had a role in the movie. Though I understand the movie was supposed to be all about Patch (though Lucky is the better fan of Thunderbolt in my opinion.)

Yeah, then again, I did see the episode, it's good that it's on the best sequel list, but I agree that they should add the other Dalmatian Puppies, into the mix, since they've already been introduced, but the only thing I have a problem with the film is every Dalmatian Pup's ears are white except Patch's.

I didn' know on that list, Belchic! o.o It's good to hear that it's in the Top Five, though, Eh? ;3
On the case of Dalmatians from; "101 Dalmatians The Series" appearing in it, Two-Tone; like you claim, it's diffrnt Continuities, and the designs for "101 Dalmatians The Series" are really diffrnt from the ones in the; "Animated" "101 Dalmatians".
You also need to keep in mind, like I claim, the reason Patch is the onl Pup with a Black Ear, in the Film, is likely so it helps him stand ot more; so having a Dalmatian with Two-Tone's Design would likely distract from him.
While it does have some ideas from; "101 Dalmatians The Series", the "Animated" "101 Dalmatians" Films are in a diffrnt Continuity to; "101 Dalmatians The Series", and the Film needs to be consistnt with it's Continuity, Eh?

What comparison are we making to the series here?
Though while we're on the subject, I have one question: The song that plays during the end credits: "One of a Kind", I wonder if that song was written and/or sung by the same person who sang/wrote the theme song to the tv series.

The Comparisons are like showing the Dalmatians headng to Cherry Tree Farm, where the Dalmatians lve in the Barn, as they do on the Dearly Farm, in; "101 Dalmatians The Series"; and some can claim that the Thunderbolt Character Ar is some what like the Episode; "Watch For Flling Idols".
There are some notabl diffrnces, in how they do these ideas, but you can see what we mean, Can you, Belchic? ;3

I disagree with Flo, I actually think that this movie was one of the better sequels. It was interesting and fun to watch and although Patch isn't my favorite puppy, he was cute in this movie.
It just bugs me that Lucky's ears are white..

It would seem that everyone disagrees with me. I can't say that I'm surprised about this, though. Well, I'm not gonna stop you or anyone else from liking it, but I still say it's one of the worse sequels. It would also seem that the fact that Lucky has white ears in this movie bugs many people. And I know that this movie centers around Patch, but they don't need to go overboard and make him stand out from the rest of the pups by making him the only one to have a black ear. He does that just as well enough with just the spot over his right eye, and since this is a 101 Dalmatians movie (which, like I said, is mainly the reason why many people here like it or say it's good), it shouldn't center around just one Dalmatian pup anyway. By making Patch stand out from the rest of the Dalmatian pups, it seems that it's insulting the intelligence of its viewers, thinking that they wouldn't tell which pup is Patch if he wasn't made to stand out the way he did here. I hate it when movies and shows do that.

On the case of Lucky's ears, I have been able to find an Animatic, of the "Thunderbolt Adventure Hour" Scene. In the Animatics, I do notice that Lucky's Ears are black.
So, it does show that they did plan for his ears to be Black, but it supports the idea that the Ears are intentionl, in order to have Patch stand out more. You Know, what I mean, Pups!? ;3

Like most other people, it always bothered me that Lucky has white ears in the film; there was no need for that silly change. Don't like how they switched Patch's patch and black ear to be opposite sides, either. So unnecessary. I think the animation is pretty lazy in places. The dalmatians look really odd in some scenes, such as when they're all pulling frightened faces on the London bus, they have really odd face shapes. The way Rolly looks and animated as he moves doesn't look right. It isn't brilliant continuity from the original; but then, the sequels aren't often so.
Despite all that, I actually don't dislike the film. It is one of the more watchable Disney sequels, for sure. I don't mind that Patch is given a focus, (although I do wonder why he was specifically chosen, and only he, when there are plenty of dalmatians to show). The story is all right; I think it's quite a unique idea to base it around the art world of the early '60s, and Lars is a rather amusing caricature of the arty type!
