If memory serves, Flo once made an rp I believe based on a game show idea of hers involving her anthro, buff/bikini drawings of various characters, (and if it's not on here, it might be more a private rp; in that case, my bad).
but listening to music and rping the idea of Marilyn, (my blind, music-loving Daschund), singing along to some of it as I play the songs in a Discord group chat in general...does make me think of a possible idea of doing either an rp OR a game thread on this forum. It's basically alike to say "Don't Forget the Lyrics" or similar games where a set of lyrics, (and the song's music), is given...and the contestant has to sing the lyrics missing. In this case, since giving blanks may be too easy or simple....they have to finish the line I would say, OR say the next line.
Like say Steve Perry's "Sherrie":
"You should've been GONE, Knowing how I, made you feel, And I should've been gone..."
any time there's an ellipsis, (...), the line AFTER is what the contestant has to fill in or answer. I'm not sure how I'll work points either way though, (Flo could help if she wants or I could go for something like Jeopardy where it's simpler).
But the following line to the song would've been "After all your, words of steel."
What you pups think? Shall this be a game or would someone, *Eyes Shadow and flo* like to try this as an actual rp? I can see it working as a Jeopardy thing though, probably with one round though and maybe a final cause...2 rounds worth of 4-5 categories/genres of songs, even for me....a little hard unless I don't do just genres. *shrugs*
Oh and uh, obviously, NO GOOGLING THE SONG'S LYRICS! (At least until after your guess but you don't get a second chance at the same song once you guess).

Yeah, that one game show idea I think you’re referring to was Brain Beach, where anthropomorphic animals who are in shape and clad only in bathing suits answer general-knowledge questions for money. I didn’t start an rp based on that, but I made two pics of it, started a fanfic of it, and posted the rules of it in the 101D Game Show Ideas thread.
This idea that you have here seems interesting. You can do both with this; you can make a detailed set of rules in the 101D Game Show Ideas thread and make the idea into an rp for other people to take part in. I’d like to take part in the rp for it if it comes through.

I knew you would. I'm just wondering whether to have the game setup be alike to Jeopardy, (3 contestants with a table present), or something alike to Don't Forget the Lyrics, (1 contestants metaphorically climbing a ladder of songs, maybe with a 1 out of 2 choice system at each step)

Well, whatever format you’re thinking of for this idea, make sure you make it so that it’s its own thing and not a direct clone of an existing game show.

Huh....that is true. Though I don't think Don't Forget the Lyrics is played anymore, (even repeats), so...I guess I could go for that.
I'm not sure; so many game shows I don't watch nor know of so how can I be sure what I do is original, (but by that logic I will not be doing a Jeopardy session then.

It doesn’t matter if Don’t Forget The Lyrics! is no longer on television, even in reruns.
Creating an original game show can be difficult, because there are a lot of them out there, past or present, but ideas for game shows come from game shows before them. When I create game show ideas, I take bits and pieces from a variety of game shows and combine them in a way that it makes that game show idea it’s own thing. There are a lot of game shows to check out on the Internet. Maybe you’ll get some inspiration from them.

Hmmm...well the only game shows I do recall enjoying are jeopardy and Don't Forget the Lyrics which is probably why I'm thinking of those two.
I have also seen Wheel of Fortune & Family Feud obviously but those won't work. Nor 5th Grader obviously, Lingo not really, maybe the Chase but idk.
If anything it'd probably just a mix between the first two listed I guess but how to work that is a mystery.

Actually, I think I know how to mix Jeopardy's 3 contestant aspect and the Don't Forget the lyrics climb idea.
3 contestants, one at a time in a particular order. Each one has a chance at climbing a "Ladder" with 8 steps cause octave. Idk if I'll have it be increasing difficulty, (I might but it'd be difficult since not everyone knows the same song). For the sake of simplicity we can simply do score based on individual points or notes in fact. (Do re mi fa so la ti do in a way). I would say after your 2nd song if you get it right or any right from then on you can either risk it all and keep going OR stay where you are for the rest of the game, then it's the next player's turn.
If it results in a tie, I may simply do another round with the pair that tied, maybe with 7 rungs instead or 5 due to the # of black keys in a piano's octave. How's that sound?

I took the time to read what you came up with here and understand it. So far, the format is good.

I might watch a bit of Dont Forget the Lyrics so I know when there were options and when it was straightforward

Do you now have more details on this rp?

Okay. Then, would you like me to take over and do some retooling to it? I have an idea on how the game can be played if you’re no longer interested in taking charge of this.

Sure. I feel bad for starting up an idea but not going through with it but you may. I'll try to keep up with it.

Okay, here’s what I got:
There’s still going to be three contestants, and those contestants are still going to sing songs karaoke-style and singing the next lyrics on their own. For the choice of scoring from one of the earlier posts, I’m going with the contestants scoring notes for singing the correct lyrics. The notes for each contestant to score are do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, and do, in that order. The first contestant to score all eight notes, or the contestant who comes closest to doing so when time is called wins the game and advances to the bonus round.
In the main game, contestants take turns, and at each turn, a contestant is given a song title and the name of the music artist or band who sang it, and that contestant has to choose whether to sing that song or pass it to one of their opponents. If a contestant correctly sings the next lyrics in that song on their own, they score a note. A contestant also scores a note if they pass it to one of their opponents, and that opponent sings the wrong lyrics.
If a contestant passes on a song, they are given the next song after the passed song is sung (whether the passed song is sung correctly or incorrectly by whichever opponent it’s passed to), and they must sing it and can’t pass it. So, there are up to two songs at each turn.
In the bonus round, the winning contestant is shown names of two artists or bands, and they’re shown a series of lyrics, one at a time. What the contestant has to do is choose which artist or band sings each lyric in one of their songs. Like in the main game, the contestant in the bonus round scores notes. That contestant scores a note for each correct guess in this round, and if all eight notes are scored within 45 seconds, that contestant wins $10,000. But if the contestant runs out of time before they score all eight notes, they win $500 for each note they have scored in this round.
If this rp idea ever comes through, we’ll have to figure out a way to get around the time parts of the game, as all this is being done in the form of an rp consisting of posts made in a thread.
