The soft forest grass felt pleasant on the soles of Shadow and Autumn's bare feet as they kept close to Patch and the others. Shadow soon got his phone out and took pictures of all the trees and wildlife.
Autumn took a deep breath, letting in all the fresh air. The two smiled, knowing by walking barefoot, they are one with the Earth.
"I love being out here in the open outdoors," Autumn said to Priscilla and Patch. "Doesn't it just lift your spirits?"
"Or take your shoes off?" Shadow joked.

“ Look how steep the walk is guys. Anyone want to race?” Raine said.
A bird landed on Penny’s shoulder and wouldn’t fly off. “ Hey guys look at this.” She said
“ Oh looks like he likes you.” Melanie said.
“ But I’ve never owned a bird before, Patch can you back me on this one, I wouldn’t know what to do.” Penny said.

“It sure does,” Priscilla said to Autumn as she took a look around the place of nature.
Patch and Priscilla then saw the bird perched on Penny’s shoulder.
“Okay, I never owned a bird before, either,” said Patch. “I think none of us do. But I think what you should do is keep still and don’t move too much. That could scare the bird, and I think we all know what birds do when they get scared.”
Patch approached the bird slowly and made a small, shooing gesture to it.
“Shoo, little birdie,” he said in a soft voice. “Fly away, little birdie. Go on, shoo. Go on.”

The bird flew off Penny's shoulder. Thankfully, it didn't leave a present.
Shadow eyed down to the feet of Patch and the others, getting an idea. He hoped that everyone will be on board. "I have a suggestion and feel free to decline as you wish. In order for you to become one with nature, maybe you all should remove your shoes and join me and Autumn in being barefoot. We're well away from glass and those prickly spiky things that I call prickly. Above all that, it's healthier to be barefoot. In my opinion, it reduces athelete's foot. And it's a good feeling knowing that we connect ourselves to the Earth."
Shadow made a compelling argument. However, he also knew not to force people into doing things they don't want to. Everyone has a right to decline and disagree.
"However, the key is to watch out where you're going. As for Shadow and me, we remove all obstacles that pose a threat to our bare feet. But once we find a big rock, that may have jagged rocks sticking out, or pose a threat to our feet, feel free to put your shoes back on." Autumn added. "But Shadow does have a point."

“ Okay sure then Shadow, why not.” Raine said as he, Melanie and Penny went barefoot.
“ Patch maybe I wanted that bird, I could learn to look after a bird.” Penny said a little disappointed.
“ Penny relax maybe he can come back.” Melanie said.
“ How Melanie, there are millions of birds around the place. “ Penny said.
Melanie whistled for the bird to come back and it did.
“ There see told you.” Melanie said.

“That’s all fine,” Patch said to Shadow and Autumn, “but we’re keeping our shoes on. We’ll take them off in activities that actually require being barefoot.”
He then turned to Penny.
“That was a wild bird. If you wanted to learn to look after a bird, then you should’ve done that long before you go right to it.”
Patch, Priscilla, and Tornado looked up to see many birds all over that spot in the woods.
“Wow, look at all these birds,” Priscilla said as she got out her phone again to take pictures of the birds. “So many of them in different sizes and colors. No way I can pass this up.”
Tornado used her phone to record a video of all that’s happening in the woods.

“ I will learn Patch, me and him will be the best of friends.” Penny said.
“ Guys look at the butterflies look at the colours.” Raine said.
“ The waterfall noise in the background is so pleasant.” Melanie said.

“Then, you’ll have to seek an expert to learn from,” Patch said to Penny, “like an animal trainer.”
Patch, Priscilla, and Tornado caught the sight of the colorful butterflies.
“These are all as beautiful as the birds,” Priscilla said as she took pictures of the butterflies.
Tornado put her own phone away and followed the sound of the waterfall. She ended up stepping out of the woods and saw an actual waterfall, which led to a river that long passed by the area in which the group’s RV’s were parked by.
“Guys, come out here!” Tornado called out to the others.

Shadow gave Raine, Penny, and Melanie a smile but that was cut short after hearing Tornado. "We're coming, Tornado! I assume you have something to show us." he said as he and Autumn rushed—their big, overweight bellies churning with each step—over to where Tornado was.
Eyeing down the waterfall and the view beyond, Autumn couldn't imagine anything more mesmerizing. "This is majestic, Tornado! The great outdoors once again amazes us with its presence." She wagged her tail as she places her hands on her belly. She eyed to the sky, a pleasant aquamarine blue with a few clouds. "Butterfilies, birds, and now this. Camping is great!"
Shadow got a stick and drew a line near the edge of the waterfall, going as carefully as he could, in the dirt. "I'm deeming this line as a 'Do Not Cross Line'." he said, holding the stick in his hands in the direction of the self-made line. "The last thing we want is for one of us to accidentally fall off the edge."
Now, one may throw the stick away, having no further use of it. Shadow did not. "Nevertheless, thank you for showing this Tornado. Nature and the outdoors never ceases to amaze us." The star-spotted Dalmatian craned his head at Tornado.

“ Don’t worry Patch as I said me and him are going to be the best of friends.” Penny said.
“ By the way I was going to name him after you.” Penny said
“ As Penny said before I could totally sleep here.” Raine said.
“ A river yes, can we swim in it later?” Melanie said.
“ Hey Shadow do you like our feet?” Penny said.

“And like I said,” Patch said to Penny, “you’ll still have to seek an expert.”
Patch and Priscilla followed the others to the waterfall.
“There really is a waterfall here,” said Patch, looking at the waterfall in amazement and up to where the water was falling from.
“It’s really nice, isn’t it?” said Tornado, and she had her eyes focused on the cliffs on the sides of the waterfall. “And look here. There’s a special place to do some climbing.”
Priscilla watched the line being drawn with a stick by Shadow.
“How did you reach that stick all the way up there?” she said to Shadow.
Patch went into the river and set his backpack aside on the land.
“I wanna get me some of this,” he said, and he took his shirt off and put it in his backpack, and then stood under the waterfall, getting the cool feeling from the water falling down on his muscular shirtless body. “Oh, this feels so good.”
Tornado then started climbing up the cliff, keeping her backpack on and using her bare hands and her boot-clad feet to pull herself up to each level of the cliff.

(Two days without Shadow and Raine, so it’s now my turn again.)
Patch and Priscilla watched Tornado climb up the cliff. Patch then stepped out of the river and shook his body dry, and then got his phone out of his backpack and used it to record Tornado climbing.
“Now, this is summer I gotta catch while we’re out here,” he said.

"Having fun there, Tornado?" Shadow called out, as he and Autumn watched Tornado rock climb.
