I was going to wait until AniMatt uploaded his first look at 2022, but I’m already a bit late on posting this. Anyway, based on what I know of what is coming, here are my first thoughts on the upcoming animated films of 2022:
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania - Was this really worth all the drama? Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild - Like we really need another one! Luck - A rip-off of “Raya”. The Amazing Maurice - BLECH! Turning Red - Not sure I want this, Pixar. The Bad Guys - This is gonna suuuuuuuuck! DC League of Super Pets - I’m not a superhero fan, but I am intrigued by this. Bob’s Burgers: The Movie - Look, just because this show has fans doesn’t mean I have to be one! Lightyear - I KNOW I WANT THIS, PIXAR! Minions: The Rise of Gru - Just cancel it already and give us another Secret Life of Pets movie! Under the Boardwalk - Ugh! Another Romeo & Juliet story??? Pass! Puss in Boots: The Last Wish - Oh no! Not again! Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) - And the fandom rejoiced. Spellbound - A rip-off of “Raya”…AND “Encanto”! Strange World - Fingers crossed that Jennifer Le can pull off another masterpiece. Super Mario - Let’s see if Illumination can make a video game movie that doesn’t suck.
I’ll update this list once I see AniMatt’s list.

I've been waiting a long time for this! Here are AniMatt's thoughts on 2022's Animated Films:
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania - Here we go again! But I am glad this will be the last one and won't become the next Ice Age. Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild - SPEAKING OF WHICH! Luck - Oh, that's interesting. Who's making this again? Oh...Oh no... Turning Red - Looks like fun, but I'm more happy that Pixar is coming back to theaters. The Bad Guys - Holy crap! We might actually get a good Dreamworks film! DC League of Super Pets - I like the idea, but I got a bad feeling about this one! Bob’s Burgers: The Movie - Oh, is that still happening? I almost forgot about this one. Lightyear - To infinity and YAAAASSSS!!! Minions: The Rise of Gru - This better have a good reason for us to wait two whole years for the Minions' return...and I don't mean the obvious one. Wendell and Wild - Henry Sellick is back, and that's enough to get me excited for this. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish - Oh, I remember the first movie! That was pretty good! I'm down for another! Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) - The hype is high for this one, but so are the standards it's gotta match, so good luck. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules - Let's hope Rodrick rules more than Greg did! Pinocchio - YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG I'VE WAITED FOR THIS! Super Mario - Please don't mess this up!
I'm surprised he didn't talk about "Strange World", and I guess the others are too obscure for him to cover, so I'll go ahead and add those in for my thoughts:
Pass! Wendell and Wild - This looks interesting, so why not? Puss in Boots: The Last Wish - Oh no! Not again! Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) - And the fandom rejoiced. Spellbound - A rip-off of “Raya”…AND “Encanto”! Strange World - Fingers crossed that Jennifer Le can pull off another masterpiece. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules - OH NO! NOT AGAIN! Pinocchio - Wait...This isn't Disney's live action remake? Super Mario - Let’s see if Illumination can make a video game movie that doesn’t suck.

I just figured something out. This “obvious” reason for the delay of Minions that Matt was talking about…I thought at first he thought it was because everyone loves the Minions and thinks they’re funny, but he was actually talking about the pandemic. Now, the question is, Trey_Vore, are you going to include the movies I added when you do your list, or are you just going to stick with Matt’s list?

Now that we have entered 2022, my first thoughts on the upcoming animated films of the year:
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania – No way! Ice Age: the Adventures of Buck Wild – Doomed to fail. Luck – With this, yeah… Turning Red – Not sure. The Bad Guys – Interesting! DC League of Super Pets – Gotta bad feeling… Bob’s Burgers: the Movie – Let’s have it! Lightyear – Pixar’s turn now? Minions: Rise of Gru – Quit teasing me! Wendell and Wild – Sounds pretty dark! Puss in Boots: the Last Wish – Yay! I’m in! Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – WOO-HOO! Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules – Try ”Rodrick Sucks”! Pinocchio – I’m nervous… Super Mario Bros. - *spit take*

I have my rational for my first thoughts coming soon. I’ll probably do mine after you do that. I wonder what your thoughts are on the four I mentioned that AniMatt omitted?

This is my rationale for the upcoming animated films: Hotel Transylvania: Transformania – I never truly liked any of these movies, so I doubt this is going to change my mind. Ice Age: the Adventures of Buck Wild – This is just a franchise that overstayed its welcome so no. Luck – The concept just seems like its very broad, so I doubt this is going to prove satisfying. Turning Red – It's a Pixar movie so it will probably be good, although its premise seems iffy. The Bad Guys – It's another anthropomorphized animal movie and I tend to enjoy these, so it got my interest. DC League of Super Pets – I am a fan of comic book heroes and the reteaming of The Rock and Kevin Hart is good too, but something tells me this just isn't going to work. Bob’s Burgers: the Movie – I'm a fan of mature cartoons in general, so yes. Lightyear – I guess Disney is doing expansions on Pixar's movies? It might be good anyway. Minions: Rise of Gru – I'm a Despicable Me/Minions fan so I still am eagerly anticipating it, but I'm tired of that d**n virus interfering with its release. Wendell and Wild – Like I said, it sounds dark. I might still be interested though. Puss in Boots: the Last Wish – I liked the last movie, so I do want to see this one. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – I thought the last movie was amazing, so definite yes for me. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules – This is the fifth attempt at making Diary of a Wimpy Kid as a movie, and none of them turned out any good. So like virtually all attempts at movies about the Fantastic Four, I think it's probably best to just assume it won't work. Pinocchio – The original movie was never a true favorite of mine, but... maybe? Super Mario Bros. - This seems like a mistake in my book. Just because Super Mario Bros. is a game franchise made for the purpose of fun, not for things like plot or character development. Mario just isn't a strong character. At least it'll be better than that dumpster fire from 1993? I’ll probably do mine after you do that. I wonder what your thoughts are on the four I mentioned that AniMatt omitted? Does it matter? These lists are hardly 100% accurate with the end of the year anyway. Case in point being this is the third time I stated what I have to say about Minions: Rise of Gru.

Thanks, Trey. Now, here’s mine:
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania – I never was a fan of these movies myself, and I don’t think it’s delay was really worth all the drama.
Ice Age: the Adventures of Buck Wild – Just when I thought it was all over, Disney out of nowhere gives us this spin-off.
Luck – I didn’t know much about this movie at first until recently when I learned it’s a huge rip-off of “Raya and the Last Dragon”, and considering John Lasseter is making it, I’m not surprised that it is!
The Amazing Maurice - I never liked sassy cat characters, and this movie sounds no different. Basically just a Garfield wannabe in a bad way.
Turning Red – For a Pixar movie, I’m not sure about this one. The plot sounds more like something from Dreamworks rather than Pixar. At least this one is coming straight to Disney+.
The Bad Guys – I really don’t know why there’s so much hype for this movie. I mean, the story is intriguing, but the characters are not very likable, and the humor seems extremely low-brow. My only theory is the animation style, but if animation is the only thing people care about, then they’re setting their standards too low.
DC League of Super Pets – Im not a big fan of the superhero films, but the idea of giving these pets some spotlight sounds very intriguing. I think this’ll be a very fun movie, and I don’t know why expectations are so low about it.
Bob’s Burgers: the Movie – Uhh…no. The fans can have this movie, but count me out.
Lightyear – Normally I don’t like spin-offs, but the trailer to this really got my attention. This looks like it’s gonna be super epic, and I can’t wait to see it.
Minions: Rise of Gru – I am not a fan of the Minions, so I’m going to pass on this, even if they do keep delaying it. Hopefully, Illumination will dish out something better next time.
Under the Boardwalk - The plot sounds like another generic Romeo & Juliet story, and that’s been done to death, so I’m gonna pass on this one.
Wendell and Wild – I didn’t know about this one at first, but it’s a Henry Sellick film, so why not?
Puss in Boots: the Last Wish – I don’t know why so many people loved the first movie, and I wasn’t expecting this sequel to come out 11 years after the first.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – The fans can have it, but I’m passing on it.
Spellbound - John Lasseter is at it again, but this one sounds like it has elements similar to “Raya and the Last Dragon” and “Encanto”, so I got a bad feeling about this.
Strange World - A new film from Disney is always welcome in my book! And considering the director of “Raya and the Last Dragon” is doing this one, I trust it’ll be good.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules – I always thought this franchise was overrated, so no.
Pinocchio – And what was the point of making this again? I know Disney has a live action remake coming out, but why this too?
Super Mario Bros. - You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to see a new Mario movie or show! I’m not going to compare it to the 1993 atrocity because we’ve entered a new renaissance of video game movies seeing how good “Detective Pikachu” and “Sonic the Hedgehog” turned out. Not to mention, I love Illumination, so I have a feeling this movie is going to be a lot of fun.

Okay, just a random post from me.
My thoughts on the Ice Age Franchise. I have to admit that while I do enjoy the series, I felt like the series had a good run with just three films, then I hear that we have the Fourth, which was okay, then we had the fifth. Alright, this should end the series right? Well... Now that we have a Buck film coming out, now I'm hearing about a seventh Ice Age film in the works and I have to ask. When will it end?
It's not as popular as Spider-Man or the X-Men or Deadpool. So, why do we have so many films of Ice Age? I'm going to take a wild guess and go with what they are doing the Simpsons and will keep making Ice Age Films till the end of time.

You can actually say the same about Pokémon and SpongeBob SquarePants. I guess they think it’s as timeless as superhero franchises.

We can take solace in knowing that Sony Pictures Animation intended this to be the final movie in the franchise.
Besides, their more recent movies have proved they can do much better, with movies like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Mitchells vs. the Machines and Vivo all proving they can do solid animated movies.
This is like they just chose to put Hotel Transylvania to rest.
