This one is for
Belchic , as he wanted a story for Dalmatian Street or 101 Dalmatians, so I chose the former and went with this.
That one Special Gift
Dylan was in the living room, coming up with a plan for the special Christmas present for Dolly, crumbling up the papers that he used to draw the perfect gift. “Dylan, what are you doing?” A Voice called out, Dylan quickly hid the piece of paper, as he looked to see it was Dizzy and DeeDee. They were inseparable, the Dalmatian couldn’t really imagine them being away from each other for even a minute.
Dylan sighed in relief. “Oh, it’s just you two.” He spoke as he placed the paper back on the table. “I thought it was Dolly for a second.”
“Should we go get her?” DeeDee asked.
“No, I don’t want her to know what I’m planning.” Dylan replied.
“What are you planning?” Dizzy asked.
They walked over to Dylan as he looked at the picture that he drew. “Every year, we have a competition to see who gets the better gift, with Dolly coming up on top.” Dylan explains to his sisters. “But this year is going to be different, I’m gonna be winning this year by getting a present that’s better than Dolly’s.”
“How are you going to do that?” DeeDee asked.
“By getting her an autographed Skateboard by Ben Madison.” Dylan replied. “He was one of Dolly’s idols.”
“How are you going to get him to autograph her skateboard, Dylan?” Dizzy asked. “He doesn’t live anywhere in Camden Town.”
Dylan looked at the paper of an autographed Skateboard, that he made from memory that appeared on TV one day. This will beat all the gifts that Dolly gets for me. Dylan thought as he walked over to the door, then looked at Dizzy and DeeDee. “Until I get back, Dawkins is in charge.” He said to his twin sisters.
He reached up and placed his paw on the scanner, the device scanned his paw and opened the door for him, allowing him to go out. He walked out to the snow, seeing some of his siblings playing in the snow. He had an idea where he would hide the gift from Dolly, since he knew that Dolly would be searching for the gifts and attempting to open them.
After walking a few blocks, he made it to the store. Alright, all I need to do now is go in, get the skateboard and walk right back out. He thought, then noticed a sign on the door that read. “NO DOGS ALLOWED!” Dylan was shocked. “Of all the…” He started to speak. It was unfair to him that humans could go into a store, but he wasn’t allowed too.
Dylan felt defeated and getting the better gift than Dolly failed. He started walking back toward the house, when he noticed Roxy was in the city, it gave him an idea that could actually work, the Dalmatian walked over to the Rottweiler. “Hey Roxy.” He spoke.
“Hey Dylan.” Roxy said with a smile on her face.
“Could you do me a favor?” Dylan asked.
“What is it?” Roxy asked.
Dylan looked at the store he wanted to go in, then looked at Roxy. “There’s a Skateboard in the store and I really need to get it for Dolly, however there’s a sign that says Dogs aren’t allowed.” He explained.
“What’s the skateboard?” Roxy asked.
Dylan showed Roxy the paper he drew from memory.
“Whoa, the Skateboard that Ben Madison signed?” Roxy asked.
Dylan nodded his head as he placed the paper back. “Will you help me?” He asked.
Roxy nodded. “Yes, I’ll help you out.” She replied. “She is my best friend after all.”
Dylan smiled. “Great!” He said to Roxy.
“But how will we get inside?” Roxy asked.
“Leave that to me.” Dylan replied.
30 mins later…
“Have a Merry Christmas, sir.” A Cashier said as a man got his bags and placed them in the cart.
“You too.” The man spoke as he walked out of the store, he saw a man in a trench coat, a fedora and a mustache walking strangely toward the door as he held the door open for the man.
as soon as the man entered. He grinned. This is perfect, nothing can stop us now. Dylan thought. Roxy continued walking, making sure to head for the skateboards. The aroma from the deli was reaching Roxy’s nose as she started heading for that direction.
Dylan watched as they were headed for the Deli. “No, stop!” Dylan whispered. “Remember, we’re just here for the skateboard.”
Roxy shook it off. “Right, sorry.” She started heading toward the skateboards and Dylan grabbed the autographed Skateboard, he was happy as he finally got it. Piece of cake. He thought. Roxy then moved toward the checkout line as she had the urge to sneeze. “Ah, Ah…”
Dylan placed his hindpaw up to Roxy’s nose to keep her from sneezing, she sighed in relief when her sneeze went away. We’re almost there, don’t say a word, the humans wouldn’t understand us anyway, just hope we have the right amount of cash and we’re in the clear. Dylan thought as Roxy walked over to the cashier.
“Ah, the Ben Madison Skateboard, very nice choice, sir!” The Cashier said, Dylan held out his money, but was shocked when the lady at the Register wouldn’t accept it.
“No, thanks. This Skateboard is free as it’s free Skateboard today.” The Cashier spoke.
“Wow, really, this will be really an amazing gift for my sister, thank you!” Dylan said out.
The Cashier looked at Dylan, confused, hearing barking from the man. “You okay, sir, you sound a little…” She spoke, she wanted to add something onto her sentence but couldn’t
Dylan quickly covered his muzzle, realizing that a human couldn’t understand Dog.
The Cashier realized why Dylan was talking in Dog. “Oh, now I get why you sound like a dog.” She spoke.
Dylan started sweating bullets now, curse his big mouth, he should’ve known that humans don’t understand the Dog Language.
“You’ve got a cold.” The cashier replied.
Huh? Dylan thought. He then went along with the idea of having a cold, then Roxy walked out of the store and Dylan took the trench coat off
Showing that Roxy was on the bottom and Dylan was on her shoulders, as he jumped down onto the ground. “Thanks for doing this for me, Roxy.” He said to the Rottweiler.
“Anytime.” Roxy said to Dylan as she walked away.
Dylan walked back to his house with the gift, wrapped it up and placed it under the tree.
On Christmas Day.
Everyone was opening up their gifts, while Dylan awoke to see that everyone was enjoying their gifts, he wondered what Dolly would think of his gift as he felt a tap on his shoulder, he looked and noticed Dolly was behind him. “Merry Christmas, bro.” She said to Dylan as she handed him a gift that she had in her paws.
“You think you can win this year, Dolly?” Dylan asked.
“What are you talking about, Dylan?” Dolly asked, confused on what Dylan was getting at.
“You win with the best gift every year, but this time, I’ve got you the best gift.” Dylan replied.
“Uh…” Dolly started to say.
Dylan placed his paw on Dolly’s mouth. “Open this, then speak.” He said to his sister. Dolly shrugged as she gave Dylan her present and opened hers, seeing that it was an autographed skateboard from Ben Madison, she smiled. “Aw, Dylan. I love it!” Then she realized what she was going to say. “But…”
“Glad you like it, now let’s see what you got me.” Dylan spoke, interrupting his sister. He opened his gift and saw that it was a VR Headset, but on it, the label read. “SPACE ADVENTURE VR” Dylan loved the gift, but felt sad.
“What’s wrong, Dylan?” Dolly asked. “Don’t like your gift.”
“Of course I do.” Dylan replied. “Just was expecting to beat you with the best gift ever.”
Dolly laughed. “Dylan, this isn’t a competition, I get you those things, cause I know you like those things.” She spoke. “And remember it’s the thought that counts, right?”
Dylan wagged his tail as he smiled. “You’re right.” He said to Dolly. “And I really do love the gift, Dolly.”
“Glad you like it, Dylan.” Dolly spoke.
