I know I may sound like I'm repeating myself here, but the original 1988 classic is definitely one of my top 10 favorite animated films, and possibly one of my top 10 favorite films of all time.

Huge part of my growing up, this entire film series. The original Land Before Time was the basis of a lot of my childhood games with toy dinos, and sparked a fascination with and love for dinosaurs. I've collected every movie since, even though they gradually imo downgraded in quality until "The Magic of Friends" ... THAT was by far the worst movie I've ever seen in the franchise. But the first five movies, I think were the most well-made, and the latter five.. just seemed to get less and less heartfelt and more ... I don't know bad as time went on. number 10 despite the iffy voice acting (Littlefoot's voice ick) we finally find out where Littlefoot's father has been and it's like <3 Sadly Grandpa Longneck's voice actor has passed away so it's like poor old Grandpa is dead too =( I liked him. The series was just poorly written and it was obvious it was made for the imagined popularity of the characters. Ruby was a totally unnecessary character addition and her dialogue was weird and confusing. They tended to randomly burst into song which was annoying as well, and I especially hated that stupid "Great Circle" song they sang every single time something good happened and they were happy about it. The only good thing about it was Chomper being there, but they didn't even really have a good reason for him being there in the first place. I think they just popped him in for the cutes, honestly. The only good thing about the series was the long awaited reappearance of Ali, Littlefoot's "girlfriend", although THAT episode was also horribly written and poorly done. Don't get me started on how an entire herd of apatosaurs chased down a baby sharptooth less than a foot tall and actually saw him as a threat I wish they'd made a movie about her returning instead of a poorly done TV show episode. The movie with her in it was one of my favorites as a kid and every movie after I always hoped she'd come back. Never happened. =/

I think you mean "The Wisdom of Friends". Also, I'll have you know that that is for sure the last LBT movie. After that movie and the series came out, Universal Cartoon Studios closed down and announced that they were officially done doing anything more with the LBT franchise.

I sort of figured that since there's been no new releases. It was a horrible movie any way you slice it. xP

I admit never seeing the first one in full. I do know that I had this activity game of it, where you took quizzes on the film and played this game where you catapult the group across a river. You win leafs from these that you spend to watch scenes from the movie.
I then saw one sequel of it, where they are with this weird dolphin looking thing. I watched it because I was on holiday and it was the only thing on that was in English! And it was airing on Toon Disney of all places!
What about the television show? I admit, I have no idea who that pink one was and the songs did seem annoying; although there was that episode where we saw he world through Spike's eyes and heard his thoughts. Remember that?

I reccomend checking out the original movie, bab. Finding it on YouTube would be impossible because Universal holds copyright to it. But still, Netflix it, find it on DVD, or I think iTunes might have it.
For it airing on Toon Disney, I see nothing wrong with it. I mean, back in the 80's and 90's, the Disney Channel played some good animated films that weren't owned by them.

So I was just informed that a new LBT movie is in the works and is scheduled to be released directly to DVD sometime this year. After the 13th movie and the TV series were released in 2007, I thought for sure Universal was done with this franchise, but apparently not.
This fourteenth installment will be subtitled: "Journey to the Heart". It also looks like Jeff Bennett, Rob Paulsen, Aria Noelle Curzon and Aandi McAfee will all be reprising their roles of Petrie, Spike, Ducky and Cera respectively, and as usual, they will have someone new voicing Littlefoot, and Littlefoot's grandfather will be voiced by Jim Cummings (his original had VA passed away).

Today marks the 30th anniversary of this beloved Don Bluth Classic! Who else here cherishes this masterpiece?
