Actually Flo, it is. Because whenever something like this happens most of the members here overreact about it. Sometimes leading to a chain of "I'll just delete my account to!" threats and etc. My main point by saying that was that no one should be overreacting about it.
A reason given would've helped ease things, but General is not legally required to. If he wanted to leave in silence it's his choice.

Indeed, and I agree with Nemo here.

I said a looooooong time ago that if people want to leave it's better to leave quietly. It's an internet forum; people come and go all the time. They don't need a reason for it. I heard that he left because he wasn't happy about people being able to see his IP address. Maybe other things as well, I don't know. Hooray for proxies.
Might not have been such a big deal if it were only one or two people, but with so many being able to see it, I don't blame him.

I'm still not gonna agree with what other people are saying about this. Leaving like that is still a big mistake, and telling people who make a fuss about it to calm down is NOT going to help. I still say that General should tell us why he is leaving this board. After all, this is one of our friends we're talking about, and we do need to know why he did it.

So it's visible to everyone, Bishop? (Thought it was a staff only thing)
And Flo, normally persistence is a good thing but in this case I really think you're pushing it. It's General's personal business if he wants to leave without saying anything.

Okay, then. If he wants to leave without telling us why, then I'll just leave it at that. I'll respect his business. But you're forgetting the fact that I'm only trying to help work this out, and you guys just don't seem to appreciate it.

Oh no, it's just staff. That's what I was pointing at.

I'm going to have to side with Flo on this one guys. It's not something to chill over. Imagine how you'd feel if one of your closest friends suddenly died in a car crash; it's not something to get over so easily. Not only that, but I noticed that people are still posting in the Stupid Questions topic, yet when I go to it, it doesn't show anything beyond Flo's post she made this morning. I wonder what's up with that.

This may be getting a little out of hand.
You should calm down as Nemo stated. You are not General's parents, nor are you the FBI to have to know why he does what he does. Or do you want him to go around asking you for permission to breathe also? If he left, he had his reasons to, and he probably is better off away from this forum. You shouldn't make a big fuss about it.
Him leaving a forum doesn't mean he is dead. It means he wanted to leave, and that is pretty much it, I think.

I'm gonna leave that here and see who gets it.

Nemo, Luisa, will you guys stop this? None of us are saying that we didn't give General permission to leave, nor are we saying any of us have authority over him! A lot of us are very upset over his departure, and you just gotta live with that.

I know that someone leaving is upsetting and whatnot, but you guys are over reacting. I mean seriously. If someone wants to leave they should without getting all this backlash. It's stupid, childish, and immature.

But you are the victim as always, right? You are the one starting to be unpolite. I'll honestly leave it here. Whine all you want.

Actually neither me or Luisa started anything. We were just explaining that you (and another) shouldn't be panicking or flipping out about one member leaving, regardless of who it is.
And honestly, that comparison to a member leaving to someone dying in a car crash was just obscenely wrong, cruel, rude, vile, and unnecessary. Do you not realize you are comparing death to someone willingly leaving a web community? It is simply absurd.
But with that I am done, since clearly everything goes in one ear and out the other.
