well we know Tails is in the sequel (and quite possibly Knuckles too)
I still hope Princess Sally shows up in the sequel, would be an awesome way to bring her back into the Sonic franchise

That is definitely cool news. I would love to see what else we can discover in Sonic's new movieverse.
Side note is I bought the movie's Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack as it came with a mini-comic book adaptation called "The Adventures of Sonic and Donut Lord".

I may have posted this before, but I do not think Sally shall make an appearance in the Sonic Films. They're more likely going to use Knuckles, Amy, or even Shadow, before Sally makes an appearance. That is not a critic against Sally, it is more that there are other Characters who are a larger part of Sonic Lore than Sally is, in this era of Sonic. The closest to a Sally appearance, I can think of, would be the Film Sonic playing with a Normal Squirrel and being like; "You're Cute! I'm going to call you; Sally!".
The General Film Audience shall most likely know Sonic from the Games, so they're more likely going to use Characters from those, as oppose to Characters from a Television Show from more than Twenty-Five Years ago.
You also have to consider that the Games do have a Larger Character Roster, these days. In the early Nineties, about the time that SatAM first premiered, Sonic had only been about for two years, and you could practically count the number of Sonic Game Characters on one hand, while today, close to the Thirtieth Anniversary of Sonic, the Sonic Game Lore has been expanded and there are practically more than Twenty Characters, who appear either on a Regular or Semi-Regular Basis in the Sonic Games!
It's similar to the reason why, when you see Disney show "101 Dalmatians", they'll most likely use the "Animated" Film look for them, as oppose to the look of "101 Dalmatians The Series", cause that is both the Main Canon, and what an Audience at large Knows and will Recognise.
Sega actually have very strict rules when it comes to the use of their Characters, too. I remember hearing that Disney did have to re-animate a Scene in "Wreck-It Ralph", cause when Wreck-It Ralph's Escape Pod crashes in to Sonic, it did not show Rings coming out of him. I also hear that, with the I D W Comics, Sega has asked them to only use the Characters who appear in the Games.
So, If a Sonic Character appears in the Film, It is most likely going to be from the Game, since that is what the large majority of the Audience Knows, especially with how the Game Character Roster has become very large and cemented in to Sonic Lore. If they're not from the Game, they're most likely going to be an Original Character.
Though, for the Sequel to the Film; Do you think we shall get either the Chaos Emeralds or Super Sonic in the Film, Pups?

I gotta agree with bab here, Two-Tone. I doubt that Sally will appear in the film franchise. Most audiences are more familiar with the game universe than they are with the SatAM universe or the Archie comic universe, and while I know those both have their own cult followings, the general audiences are more familiar with the games. There may be a chance we might see Sally in a hidden Easter Egg in one of the films, but that’ll probably be it. Also, babclayman, it has already been confirmed that Knuckles is going to be in the second film. They even show screenshots of him in the article I just shared! Do you see that, bab?

babclayman - you do have a point, though a lot of people are sick and tired of amy stealing the spotlight.

Like I said, there was a time when movies about comic book heroes were once seen as box-office poison. But thanks to care and investment on the filmmakers' part, they are all over the multiplex. Video games just need to have some care and investment and they will be big moneymakers.

Guys! I just heard on The Wrap that the sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog is set to be released in April 2022! Hopefully the pandemic will let up by then.

Ben Schwartz has also confirmed this on his Twitter, with the date specifically being the Eighth of April 2022.
So, I assume they're setting it up for an Easter Airing Time?
Tails is most likely going to play a Role in the second Film; though, do you think they may be waiting for the third Film to have Knuckles, so it echos the Game by having the Third Film be called; "Sonic III & Knuckles"?

While this may be Sonic News in general, I have heard that, yesterday, Roger Craig Smith announced that he shall be retiring as the voice of Sonic in the Video Games.
It does make me curious, who the next voice of Sonic shall be?
You think, to match up with the Film, they'll cast Ben Schwartz as Sonic in the Games?

This movie is now at least one full year old now and it's still a bucket of fun.
I know I'm eagerly anticipating the sequel, it feels like there is a lot more they can do with it just like with Pokemon.
I was planning to do an anniversary pic to commemorate it but I remembered that the original Sega Genesis game is turning 30 this year so I decided to wait.
