Here's AniMat's take on the Bob's Burgers movie: Story: 9/10 Animation: 9/10 Characters: 8/10 Songs: 7/10 He claims that it's good enough to put in the ranks of the Simpsons Movie and the South Park movie. I'm not surprised, but it currently ranks as his pick for the second best animated movie of the year: 1. Turning Red - 87% 2. Bob's Burgers: The Movie - 83% 3. The Bad Guys - 80% 4. Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood - 60% 5. Hotel Transylvania: Transformania - 33% 6. Ice Age: The Adventures of Buck Wild - 33% Next in line is Lightyear. Maybe that one will go to infinity and beyond.

I liked it better than both.

Tomorrow we are getting Lightyear. What are the critics saying?
Well, it's current RT score is reasonably good, at 79%. Audiences seem to like it better though with a score of 93%.
The critics consensus is:
Lightyear settles for being a rather conventional origin story instead of reaching for the stars, but this gorgeously animated feature ably accomplishes its mission of straightforward fun.
I will go and see this but I kinda doubt it'll make my year-end Best List.

I just saw Lightyear. I found it to be very satisfying. It’s way better than Turning Red, and I highly recommend it.

Oh, I also saw trailers for Minions, DC League of Super Pets, Strange World and Puss in Boots before the movie. It looks like Puss in Boots has been postponed to a Christmas release date in place of what would have been the Mario movie.

I just saw the movie myself and I did enjoy it.
And okay. I may have been a bit hasty; it could make my Best List yet.
And yes, I think I may have liked it better than Turning Red.

I’m glad you liked it to, Trey. Although I have been hearing the movie has been getting a lot of bad reviews lately.

Once that comes out, I’ll officially know what AniMat’s ratings for 2020 would have been had it not been for the pandemic.

Well, here's AniMat's look at Lightyear:
Story: 6/10 Animation: 10/10 Characters: 7/10
Overall: 8/10 = 77%
In his perspective, the story had some good moments but was unorganized, the animation feels immersive and realistic, and the characters were crafted so well. So now, here's where the ranking stands:
1. Turning Red - 87% 2. Bob's Burgers: The Movie - 83% 3. The Bad Guys - 80% 4. Lightyear - 77% 5. Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood - 60% 6. Hotel Transylvania: Transformania - 33% 7. Ice Age: The Adventures of Buck Wild - 33%
This is not looking like a very charming year for animation.
