I told ya it was going to flop. Although, Soul and Turning Red were both very well-received even if they were Disney+ exclusives.

Let's keep in mind, Belchic, the film has only had it's Opening Weekend, and is still in Theaters.
That is also not taking into account the film hasn't even reached an International Audience yet. We're not getting it in the UK until the Seventh of July.
I can also think of several other potential reasons, too. One, even Pixar has acknowledged that the average audience has been "Trained" to wait for it to go to Streaming. So, we need to have audiences relearn to see Pixar Films in the Cinema. Secondly, could also be close to "Across The Spider-Verse" release, too.
But, I REALLY do hope word of mouth encourages more people to go see the film, especially when it reaches the other countries, Eh?
If we want Disney to make more Original IP's, rather than Remakes or Sequels, we've got to support them and not immediately write them off, shouldn't we?

Still, I blame Spider-Verse for its failure.

Even before it hit international, already calling it as a fail.
How does that phrase go, "Don't count your chickens before they hatch"?

I still think it’ll fail considering what is surrounding it now. It’s not just Spider-Man, but we also got Transformers, Little Mermaid, The Flash, and coming soon, Indiana Jones. Being that Elemental is an original idea and is surrounded by all these movies based on familiar franchises destined to be summer blockbusters, it is quite a risk if you ask me.

The Flash is bombing much worse than Elemental. You can thank Ezra Miller for that.

I feel "Elemental" had the rougher opening weekend.
As Race says, I can understand why people would be hesitant to go to Flash, because of Ezra Miller.
However, "Elemental" is Pixar's first Original IP in Theaters since Pre-Lockdown, so Pixar REALLY need this. At the same time, you get people who have been trying to critic Disney for making a number of Sequels or Remakes in recent years, yet when this happens when Disney does make an Original IP!?
If we REALLY want Disney to make more Original IP's, we've got show a willingness to support them when they do! We need to make sure their Original IP's do really well in order to send the message that we do indeed want more Original IP's. Voting With Your Wallet, Eh?

Well, here's what AniMat thought of Elemental:
Story: 6/10 Animation: 10/10 Characters: 8/10
Overall: 8/10 = 80%
In his opinion, not one of Pixar's best, but definitely enjoyable enough to consider it a good movie. Not a masterpiece, but not horrible, and definitely worth watching. Now, here's where it stands:
1. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - 93% 2. Elemental - 80% 3. The Super Mario Bros. Movie - 67% 4. The Magician's Elephant - 53%

Yeah, that Ezra Miller thing is really dragging The Flash down.
Regarding Elemental though, I guess it may have been a bomb in just the US but hopefully foreign business will save it.

Well, we just got the new Universal/DreamWorks animated film Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.
Critics: 58% Audiences: 78%
The critics' consensus is:
Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken is littered with too much flotsam and jetsam from better animated features to stand as a true original, but its inherent sweetness and lively animation make for likable enough family entertainment.
So, it seems like it is... not terrible. I may pass on this to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Elemental again so I can review them.

It looks like AniMat posted his review of "Nimona" today. Guess that means his review of "Teenage Kracken" next week. Anyway, here are his scores:
Story: 9/10 Animation: 10/10 Characters: 9/10
Overall: 9/10 = 93%
Since he gave the film the AniMat Seal of Approval, I guess it's safe to say that Blue Sky Studios ended on a high note! Also, now that I saw his review of it, I'm tempted to watch it now! But anyways, it looks like "Nimona" is currently tied with "Spider-Verse" on his list now:
1. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - 93% 2. Nimona - 93% 3. Elemental - 80% 4. The Super Mario Bros. Movie - 67% 5. The Magician's Elephant - 53%

More rough starts last weekend occurred. The newest Indiana Jones movie, Dial of Destiny, is looking like a bomb like that of The Flash. And in the same weekend, they are saying that Elemental seems like it may end up with a long set of legs at the box-office so chances are it will at least break even, but Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken sunk like a rock with only $6 million. It didn't have as high of a budget as Elemental, but it's unlikely to make back its budget. www.slashfilm.com/1328724/ruby-gillman-teenage-kraken-drowns-box-office-6-million-opening-weekend/Maybe she will make a comeback on home video?

That’s strange, because there has been a lot of massive hype for RGTK, and people are saying it’s really good.

That’s strange, because there has been a lot of massive hype for RGTK, and people are saying it’s really good. I was looking into this and some publications suggest: 1: The film's poor three month marketing 2: Misleading trailers 3: Competition with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Elemental
