I just saw the new Super Mario Bros. Movie. And boy, I could probably say a few interesting things about it.
I will go and review it soon enough, but I did enjoy myself. For now, I'll just say if you're looking for the cinematic equivalent of having a McDonald's Happy Meal, you've found it.

Oh I totally want to see it now. On a related topic, reviews are coming in for The Super Mario Bros. Movie and the result is... eh... It's RT score is a so-so 54% as of this typing. The consensus is: While it's nowhere near as thrilling as turtle tipping your way to 128 lives, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is a colorful--albeit thinly plotted--animated adventure that has about as many Nintendos as Nintendont's.The critics seem to like the music, animation, humor and fun, but the story just feels very thin and it probably won't win over anyone who isn't already a gamer. I'll probably go and see this movie so I can form my own opinion of it, but I'm not expecting much. It probably will make money so we may see some other Nintendo franchises get a crack at it (Shawn can tell you which one we want to see), but... at least better than last time?

Oh no.
Then I also just read that Gene Hackman isn't feeling all that great either.

Random Fact #4589:
During the late 1980s, when the staff at Warner Bros. were in the process of casting for Tim Burton's Batman, they had some very specific actors on who they wanted for the Joker. During this time, comic book superhero movies were still generally seen as box-office poison (very different than how it is right now), and they wanted Jack Nicholson who, being such an accomplished actor, had some very rigid demands to play the role. Robin Williams was offered the role of Joker when Jack Nicholson hesitated. He had even accepted the role, when producers approached Nicholson again and told him Williams would take the part if he did not.
In the end, the role went to Jack Nicholson over Robin Williams who resented the fact he was seemingly baited for Jack Nicholson. He would not only refuse to play the Riddler in 1995's Batman Forever but also refused to be involved in any Warner Bros. productions until the studio apologized (due to his A-list star status, the role of the Riddler would go to Jim Carrey).

That's a movie on Netflix.
That thumbnail that took some it's cues from a Grand Theft Auto game didn't make it look too promising.

I did hear about the CGI series not sure about how I feel about it.
I did go and review the original movie from 1998 on page 5 of my review page.

And it looks like the Oscar went to Pinocchio. (Sorry for the spoiler.) No big shock here. It was miles above the same year Disney version.
