This is a fun topic I just came up with. Just pretend you're making your own remake of a movie from the past, and make the cast list. It has to be a modern cast, meaning preferably big stars in Hollywood and nobody who's retired or deceased.
For example, here's my cast for my remake of the 1970 movie, "The Phantom Tollbooth":
Milo - Sullivan Sweeten Tock - Steve Carrell Humbug - Denis Leary Officer Short Shrift - Jason Alexander Whether Man - Wallace Shawn Spelling Bee - Will Ryan King Azaz - Michael Palin Mathmegician - John Cleese Chromo the Great - Billy Crystal Senses Taker - Ian Holm Demon of Insincerity - Will Arnett Rhyme/Reason - Kath Soucie

Gone in 60 Seconds (The good one in 1974, not that crap one in 2000)
Eleanor- Yellow 2008 Ford Mustang All the actors should be an unknown, maybe with a cameo by Jeff Gordon as himself (replacing Parnelli Jones' one in the original)

I don't like movie remakes that much, only if they can actually pull it off, but really, they should always leave ovies alone, and do not remake them.
Only movies that are fine how they are for having being from an orginal are Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, keeping in contrast with the book basically, and Peter Jackson's King Kong, for keeping up to date with technology and making Kong look bloody well real.
So in other words, movies shouldn't be remade at all, unless there is an extremely good reason to do so, and not "Oh, we're going to remake this one cause we're all complete retards and can't think of anything else original"

A lot of remakes from the 80's and 90's were pretty bad. Some examples include: The Fly (1986) The Scarlet Letter (1994) The Jungle Book (1994) 101 Dalmatians (1996) Flubber (1998) The Haunting (1999) The only remake from either of those decades that was pretty good was the 1980's remake of "Little Shop of Horrors". However, in the 2000's, a lot of remakes were made that were even better than the originals like: The Grinch (2000) The Punnisher (2004) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) War of the Worlds (2005) King Kong (2005) Horton Hears a Who (2008) Does that sound encouraging to you?

Yeah, I mean, some are good and some are bad, just depends really on how it's done and what have you.

Well, you know where I stand with the live-action 101 Dalmatians as opposed to the original, so I won't say anything on that.
In some cases it may depend. I might prefer the older versions of War of the Worlds to the 2005 movie, largely because it may not elicit as strong a response, but it is a lot less depressing. I may prefer the 2007 Transformers movie to the 1986 movie for similar reasons.
Also, Alvin and the Chipmunks (1983 series and 2007 live-action movie) were a lot better than The Alvin Show.

Question to all: Is it kinda hard for you guys to come up with your own remakes, or do you just need some time?
