I changed Jay's appearance significantly from his last outing... I quite like it. I'd have made the chapter longer, but I wanted to get it posted this morning, and I have to go now, so I cut it short. Enjoy.
Volkner's Saga part VI
Shadow lead Volkner down a dirt path behind the church, leading through some woods. On the other side was a small, but deep pool of water, and a small rusted old shack nearby.
Shadow took Volkner into the small shack. The inside walls were rusted, and there were old books stacked up everywhere, a dog of undeterminable breed with long, matted, brown fur sitting on top of a small stack of books, Amaranth sitting nearby.
“Volkner! You’re okay…” Amaranth exclaimed.
“I was getting worried about you…” Volkner said.
“Volkner, this is Astrid…” Shadow said, looking at the brown dog. Volkner started laughing a little at the mention of his name.
“Is something funny?” Astrid asked.
“Astrid is a girl’s name.” Volkner said, Astrid’s expression growing unamused.
“Volkner, Astrid may be able to help you. He’s the son of one of your father’s friends and…” Shadow said as the door flew open, a Dalmatian walking in. He had a black spot over his left eye that covered about a quarter of his face and another just like it on his right hind leg. He had a cross charm hanging on a chain, just like Volkner’s, only gold.
“Oh, this is Jay…you’re half brother.” Shadow added.
“My….brother?” Volkner asked, a bit confused.
“Yes…you’re father had a litter with another female before your mother.” Shadow replied.
“Are you trying to find him too?” Volkner asked, looking at Jay.
“Yeah… he’s not the same anymore, in fact I don’t even think it’s really him… he has to be stopped.” Jay said.
“What do you mean “he’s not himself?” He’s always been insane; he killed my mother and the rest of my siblings, except amaranth here!” Volkner said, even more confused than he already was.
“Our father was a good man…you must’ve been too young when it happened to remember. Something changed him.” Jay replied.
“Umm, I hate to interrupt the “Faust family reunion”, but… anyone else getting that feeling like we’re not alone?” Astrid said, interrupting the discussion.
Volkner’s and Jay’s charms both started glowing that smoky blue color, and Jay ran out the door with haste.
“Volkner, come with me! The rest of you stay put!” Jay commanded.
