this is a blessing to those of you getting bored with my story, because at last, SOMETHING HAPPENS! lol
Volkner's Saga part VII
Jay looked around, growling as he did so, his and Volkner’s necklaces still glowing. Without warning, a dog jumped down from a nearby tree – it was Sigurd himself, with his wings out, and an evil, yet satisfied smile on his face.
“I’ll kill you both at the same time… completely eradicate the threat in just a few moments!” Sigurd laughed.
“Why don’t wipe that stupid smile off your face, and fight!” Jay said, wings matching Sigurd’s coming out of his back.
Volkner glanced over to Jay, almost in awe. “Do…I…?” Volkner asked.
“Probably… if you don’t have them now they’ll probably come in time….BAH, WHY AM I STANDIN’ HERE TALKIN!” Jay said charging his father only to be deflecting by a single paw swipe, and sent into a large rock.
Jay struggled back to his feet, a bit battered, and weak. “Volkner… get the others and run…” he struggled to say.
“You can’t take him alone!” Volkner yelled.
“I don’t care, go!” Jay said mustering the strength to charge at his father again.
Meanwhile, Volkner lead the others as they ran away, and took refuge in the abandoned church Shadow stayed, Sigurd preoccupied with Jay.
As they entered the abandoned building, out of breath, Volkner addressed Astrid. “…The necklaces…why do they glow when he’s around? Mine glows when I hear this voice in my head as well….”
“Well, I come from a lineage of mages…” Astrid said before Amaranth interrupted him.
“Mages? Give me a break…” she said rolling her eyes.
“Believe what you will, my lady, but the truth cannot be changed by what you choose to believe.” Astrid replied, Amaranth sitting down, and keeping quiet.
“Now, as I was saying, my father knew what was going to happen to Sigurd, and he made these two necklaces…uh….“special”. Whenever Sigurd, or anyone else being controlled by the same evil, they glow… there seems to be one exception, a psychopathic girl, she is… we’ve seen her around here a few times.”
“I see….but…when I hear that voice.” Volkner said, shaking his head, unsure at all what it could be.
“Well, we can only assume at this point, but it would make sense to me, that the voice you’re hearing is that of the one who controls Sigurd.” Astrid explained.
“But…why would he help me find my father?”
“So that your own father could kill you...”
“It doesn’t make any sense, why does he want us dead?”
“Because he too knew the future…and it was very bleak for him. Apparently he met his end at your hands…and so he protects himself with Sigurd. However, I believe that you can’t change fate, even if you try at your very best….he’ll not change his either.”
“We should discuss this later… let’s head back now, maybe it’s all over.” Shadow suggested.
“Maybe…and if it isn’t, there’s no way Jay can do it on his own, lets go!” Amaranth said, standing up.
“No, Amaranth…your staying here…Astrid, keep an eye on her for me.” Volkner said
“Oh, with pleasure!” Astrid replied looking at amaranth with a smirk.
“……..Shadow, watch Amaranth.” Volkner said, Astrid’s ears drooping as he followed Volkner out.
Returning to the site of Sigurd’s ambush, Volkner and Astrid found Jay sitting to himself, his wings still exposed, looking into the pool of water nearby.
“Wow…I’m impressed.” Volkner said Approaching Jay from behind.
Jay kept his silence, continuing to stare at the water.
Volkner was too caught up in his own shock, that he didn’t notice his necklace glowing again. “Um…Volkner…” Astrid said, stuttering.
“What?” Volkner said looking over his shoulder.
“That’s…..not….” Astrid said, as he was interrupted.
Jay turned around, an evil smile on his face, his eyes blood red. “You idiot…” he laughed, Volkner backing up.
“I’m afraid he’s been taken, much in the same manner as your father….” Astrid said sadly, “Jay….you were like a brother to me…”
“Enough of this…..hurry up and die!” Jay said approaching rather casually.
