Chapter 1
Erik looked over at his VCR that sat atop his television set. It was old, but it worked fairly well, when it wanted to. Most of the time the blasted thing didn't so much as turn on.
The young skunk looked at his watch. It was forty-five minutes past six o' clock. Only fifteen minutes to go until Lois called the family to dinner. He looked forward to dinner. It would take his mind off of missing Colin.
Colin, his raccoon friend, was down in Tennessee visiting his family. He wouldn't be home for at least three more days. Erik didn't know how he'd survive. Colin was his best friend. They'd been best friends ever since elementary school.
Erik's ears perked up as he was pulled away from Memory Lane. He could clearly hear Thumper at his computer. The young rabbit was working on yet another book with a glass of warm milk and a plate that held a slice of cherry pie beside him.
Hearing Thumper typing reminded Erik of his own writing assignment. He needed to finish his article before time was up. More than anything he needed to get it started. His boss had given him the project two weeks ago and Erik hadn't so much as written one sentence. The article was due this week.
Erik's eyes went from the VCR to his DVD collection. He'd seen every one of them at least over five times. His gaze met the DVD set of THe Angry Video Game Nerd. Colin had been the one who had introduced him to James Rolfe, otherwise known as the AVGN.
Erik sighed. His tail swished, brushing against the back of the sofa on which he sat.
"You all right?" a voice asked.
Erik jumped. His eyes snapped open. He looked around until his green eyes met Thumper's brown eyes.
"Thumper, I didn't hear you come up," he muttered.
