I got an idea for makining characters to see which ones are accepted. There can be two subboards, one of them is for pending applications which means the creater writes about their characters there. The other subboard will be where the accepted appications which means if the admin or moderater agrees with a character on the board they can move that character to the accepted applications subboard. Good idea?

I dunno, for the most part we just accept everything and go with it. We don't take it too serious, if you want to do it just do it and we'll accept it.

How? I'm not a moderator.

I think we've had a miscommunication.
When I said "if you want to do it just do it and we'll accept it" I meant regarding making a character not your idea for a subboard.

I'm sorry, but this idea makes no sense at all. I say we don't do it.

I think it makes good sense. To say it it smaller words: One subboard is where members can post about their characters. The other is for the accepted characters where the moderator ar admin moves the post to Accepted Characters subboard if they like it to make sure no more Mary Sues or Gary Stus are put into role-play. Does that make sense to you now?

I really think you guys are all taking this Mary Sue and Gary Stu thing too far. I don't want it to be this way...where people are forcing other people to get rid of their characters just because they think they're Gary Stus or something like that. If people make characters, just let them make the characters the way they want them to be.

I got to agree with Belchic for this idea.
Nothing personal but i don't think that it should be up to the admins or moderators whether a character can be accepted or used, or not.
If someone makes a character, they're free to do so and show it whether it may be a Mary Sue or not.
You can't get rid of Mary Sues, there are always going to be some, but forcing it in our faces isn't the answer. If this idea does somehow become real, it would turn the character section into a sort of Totalism there. A Dictatorship as you say.
So i am not really up for this idea. We got enough sections on characters as it is (some not even 101 related) i don't think there is much room for even more, and we've been able to survive some Mary Sues already fine on our own. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I don't want to force members to be original but if these subboards exist, people may improve on their characters and that will be vital if you want fun role-play and maybe good writing too if you want to be an author.

We've been able to survive fine with these types of characters on our own all this time though, why would we need help now? What i am saying is really it is sort of forcing it if you need to get admin approval before characters can be made. And i assure it will make the creation of a charatcer less enjoyable. I mean, imagine what fan character list would be like if we had to go through the stress on waiting for results of polls or casting the votes so the character can be. It be a prety empty list.
And like i said, you are never going to be rid of Mary Sues, we just accept every character that is created. We are able to cope with it. So it isn't really anything to stress over.

So you have had Mary Sues for so long, you got used to it and let it go? If that's how you float your boat then I guess that's O.K.

Yeah, if we think it's a Mary Sue, we simply ignore it. =/
Sort of like when people pick on you, the advice people say is ignore them

Sure is nice to hear bab agree with my opinions for once. I think this was a stupid idea anyway.

"I think this was a stupid idea anyway."
Belchic, just because you don't like an idea doesn't mean its "stupid." I didn't think that would be a good fit for the board either but there is no reason to insult it and belittle the person who thought it up. She was only trying to help.
You're getting like Slayer used to be, posting far more than any other member but unlike Ken ever did your comments of late seem to be becoming more and more incendiary.
