I saw it last night, and *wow*. It was amazing. Possibly one of the greatest films I've ever seen. Have any of you guys seen it?

No, and I don't plan to myself, maybe when it comes out on DVD I might see it, but to me, it's a "meh" film, considering the fact that I'm no Star Trek fan....I'm still waiting for Transformers 2, Terminator 4 and the next Harry Potter movie to come out myself.

I don't plan to see it at all. From what I've heard, they turned a classic sci-fi franchise and turned it into an action flik for all the teenagers to hoot and holler over throughout the summer. Judging by the reviews I'm hearing from the people who have seen it...they indeed have.

Judging by the reviews I'm hearing from the people who have seen it...they indeed have. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 96% overall. IMDB currently is ranking Trek as the 64th greatest film of all time. That's above The Bridge on the River Kwai (69) and 2001: A Space Odyssey (88). Not too bad, I'd say.

And your point is Taren?
I mean, I myself, don't watch movies for the reviews, I watch them cause they look interting, Star Trek wont be one of them, Wolverine on the other hand was.....and I liked that movie, sure Wolverine's claws looked a bit weird and they changed Deadpool completely, but all was good in the end.
But still, I for one, wont be watching the Star Trek movie anytime soon, it just doesn't catch my enthsiasum.

Just because you never heard of it, doesn't mean it's not good. Plus popular opinion is taken from millions of people. So it is a pretty reliable source.
If i get a chance i might look it up. While i havn't watched a real Star Trek all the way through before, I have heard this movie is pretty interesting.

I just saw Star Trek last night and I'm mixed. I liked the new takes on the characters and there is good mixed of action and humor but I didn't really enjoy the film as a whole because the plot wasn't the best in my opinion. Still, the people I went with loved though.
It's not as good as Wrath of Khan but still a good popcorn flick in my opinion.

I'm not saying that it's bad. It's just that how can a movie I've never heard of be #1 on that list?

You really haven't heard of The Shawshank Redemption? Seriously? Family Guy did an entire 7-minute parody of it last week.

Yeah, I've heard of The Shawshank Redemption myself, haven't seen it though. But really Belchic, great movies....I have a few to ask if you've heard of them or not, 300? Iron Man? The Incredible Hulk? The Dark Knight? Transformers? Sin City? Watchmen?
Any of those spark anything in your head by any chance? Or is your mind still back in the 80s or so?
