I don't want to sound like a control freak but in RP forums I been to in the past, they have taught me how to make decent RP posts because of their strict rules of writing at least 3 lines on the post and writing in 3rd person. I specifically joined this forum for role playing, I absolutely love it. But what I hate about this board is that the writers either don't write enough, write in script or write in first person, or sometimes two or three of those things.
Henceforth, for the sake of better experience in RP I want everyone to write in 3rd person and write at least seven sentances. This rule could make people practice their literary skills and make them write only at their very best. Seven sentances is not too much to ask for and please for God's sake don't write it as though it is a script.
Thank you for your time. Dragonology Student

Bonus points for you!
I completely agree with you on this. Its really why I only rp with specific people. No one really knows how to do a decent descriptive role play.
With another staff member's approval, I agree to make this a rule.

What is wrong with you people and script format? What makes third person better than script format? Script format would make more sense for role play, I would think, because you are "playing the roles" of your characters. I mean, have you ever gone to the theater and watched a play where everyone talked in third person all the time? Think about that the next time you watch a play or movie.

Well be fair Belchic, we are not in a theatre are we? Plus i think you can be able to do rp in descriptive form. I can do it. It's easy.

Because script format is annoying, there is no description, no scenery or mood, just the charcters talking. Imagine if you were reading a book. You would not understand it if it was in script format. Think of role play as reading or writing a book becasue we can't see what is going on, so we have to use our imaginations and the better the description, the more you feel.

*sigh* There's more to get out of life than just reading books, you know. Oh, and what did you just say earlier? Think about that the next time you watch a play or movie. There is more to life than TV. In fact books are more beneficial than TV by far, and I am guessing now you don't read books that often. Go read a novel and tell me how you feel about it, I reccomend The Shadow of Malabron. Go on, read it!

Hehe
DS is right in a way, script format puts absoluetely no description in anything at all.
I mean it's ok with scripts for movies and theatre shows because at least we can see what is going on. But imagine if you were blind and couldn't see the show. You wish someone would be describing the scene then wouldn't you? (yeah they do audio description on tv and movie theatres) And that's what descriptive text is and why we need it. Since we can't see what is going in the text, we need description of where they are, what they look like etc. Without it, for all we know they could be the spainish armarda on a banana planning to fly to Mars while unicycling on a piece of toast while playing the music of "Pirates of Penzanse" on a one string bass which can talk.
So ok, while i agree with DS about using descriptive text, i am still so so on the whole making it three lines long thing.

It's obvious Belchic doesn't appreciate books at all.
I for one, agree with this rule, makes RPing experiences so much better. Every single RP place I've been in, they talk in third person, not in script format, you know, do it the proper way....not the, what's the word I'm looking for? Oh yeah, retarded way.

I think seven sentences might be a bit much but a similar rule could and should be put into place. Maybe with at least 2-3 sentences instead.

When I've been on RP forums in the past, instead of strict overall rules, the OP of each topic decided the level of each individual roleplay, whether it be lit, semi-lit or whatever. Different people have different preferences, and people joined RP's depending on what they felt comfortable with. I felt it was a good system, as everyone was happy.

I definitely agree with this rule and fully support it <3 I'm sick of the people on here who rp with God modding and no description. But I think at least 3 sentences.
