I don't understand why everyone gives the impression that Penny is bossy. Is it just because of Trey's fanfic where he had Penny voiced by the actress who did Sarah from "Ed, Edd n Eddy"? This should explain it. Yeah. I had looked on the Wikipedia article that explained that in the series' original production notes, the cast was to have five main puppies: you remember they were Lucky, Cadpig, Rolly, Penny and Patch. But for some reason Disney was afraid of there being too many cast members (why? Recess had like SIX main characters!) so they just decided to keep the first three. I don't know, maybe once they made their choice, Penny was decided to be Cadpig? I mean, she still has her angry outbursts and such. According to the characters' descriptions in the book, only Lucky, Roly-Poly, Patch and 'the Cadpig' were characterized. In essence, only Rolly is pretty much the same. Patch basically is the character Lucky has and Lucky plays Cadpig's character. I remember in the 1996 live-action movie after the stillborn puppy is revived Nanny says that puppy's name would be "Lucky". That may explain why Patch is still a physical character and Penny is never spoken of in the series. At the time, I figured if she was a separate character, she'd probably be like Sarah on Ed, Edd n Eddy. Kinda like how RaceFanX thought that if Fidget was in the official series he'd be kinda like Tweek on South Park. 1: the original production notes say Penny was dictatorial (like, she is very demanding). She could be a possible blackmailer. Doesn't sound like much of a sweetheart. And why do all the canon characters have to like piggyback rides? Dictorial is somewhat, bossy. Though i myself don't understand what gave you the impression she liked piggybacks =p But it seems a majority has accepted the bossy idea more. Yep. And now you know why I thought maybe Jewel wouldn't be interested in piggyback rides. It's boring if all the canon characters have the same interests. wow interesting pic Trey, Cadpig infront of Penny's intro tile Thanks Two-Tone. I also remember that someone once claimed that in Sweden her name is "Skorpan". An interesting side note is, as I once noted, it's like an example of Adaptation Displacement: you should acknowledge that 101 Dalmatians was the idea of Dodie Smith, but you're better off following the story the way Disney tells it. Another interesting example is the story of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? The movie was very loosely based on Gary Wolf's story Who Censored Roger Rabbit? After the movie was released, Gary Wolf felt that the movie was better than his book and retconned the book sequel to follow the movie better.

You know, i remember before the art got deleted here, Corgi had a picture with Penny.
In his opinion, Penny would actually take a liking to Mooch, a somewhat "Beauty & The Beast" type relationship. There was even a scene he drew with Penny confronting Lucky with Mooch a bit teary eyed in the background with Wizzer & Dipstick as on lookers.
And you know, Treys idea of Cadpig having anger outbursts and dictorial being taken by Penny can work along those lines. Episode in case "My Fair Moochie" If Penny was used in her dictorial way, i am pretty sure she would have had Cadpigs role in that episode. Making Corgi somewhat happy as he feels Penny & Mooch should be together =3
I have asked Corgi to try and refind that picture as it was pretty sweet =3

I've been rethinking having Patriot and Penny break up. I've had that going for a while, I never caught direct flack over it and I've got to have at least one character who has a hookup work. The only other character I have with any romantic interest is Roadhouse and we all know that while he secretly crushes on Stealth in the end he'll never confess his love to her and they'll never hook up.
Not to mention we still have Nuke/Jewel, Noggin/Cadpig, Orkan/Spot and a whole mess of other characters with the secondary canon ones.

Based on the animated film, she is characterized being daddy's little girl when she objects patch saying that no one is better than dad, as I remember. There were also accounts that Patch and Penny were never seen apart from each other suggesting that she might be the "Cadpig" in the animated film. There were also various dubs of the series that Cadpig is often renamed to Penny. (further supporting this idea) And the series main character line up was originally set to 5 characters: Lucky, Cadpig, Rolly, Patch and Penny but the two were cut from the line-up for unknown reasons...

Yeah, I remember when I deduced Penny could be the adaptation form of Cadpig.
I been told as well, Penny has the smallest spots amongst the Pups, which I guess may support the penny idea.
Although, In some fan items, they make Penny some sort of genius. Why they do that? o.o

You know, if Disney kept the original idea of five principal characters, I think the Five Man Band would look like this:
The Hero - Lucky The Lancer - Rolly The Smart Girl - Cadpig The Big Guy - Patch The Chick - Penny

That sounds appropriate, Trey.
I think the pairing between Penny and Tripod makes perfect sense. A lot better than Tripod and Cadpig. Although, pairing her up with Patch might not be bad either.
