After reading Dana's list of Best/Worst Nicktoons (here at this link: sparkydearly.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tv&action=display&thread=4380&page=1), I decided to do an update of my Best and Worst Disney cartoon series list. Keep in mind that I'm not counting Lizzie McGuire (it's half animation/half live-action) and shows like Mary-Kate and Ashley in Action!, Toad Patrol, Ultimate Book of Spells, Sabrina: the Animated Series and Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog don't count.
Tier 1: Best Disney Afternoon series
Adventures of the Gummi Bears (1985)
This show has a good plot, likable characters and still holds its ground.
DuckTales (1987)
This show is classic!
The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1988)
Oh, what the hell...
Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers (1989)
Cult favorite show that is still entertaining today.
Darkwing Duck (1991)
Good writing, fun stories, cool main character...c'mon, this show is awesome!
The Little Mermaid (1992)
I loved the movie and the show does it justice.
101 Dalmatians: the Series (1997)
Need I say more?
Mickey MouseWorks (1997)
An admirable job was made to recapture the essence of the classic Disney shorts.
Teacher's Pet (2000)
Dude, Nathan Lane is the main character! It has to be good!
The Legend of Tarzan (2001)
It didn't last, but I liked it.
Fillmore! (2002)
This show was just too good to last.
Kim Possible (2002)
One of the better action-oriented series made in the 2000s.
Lilo and Stitch: the Series (2003)
I love Lilo and Stitch and this show is still awesome!
Phineas and Ferb (2007)
Haven't seen it yet, but it sounds really good.
Tier 2: In the middle
TaleSpin (1990)
I don't know...maybe I just never saw what The Jungle Book had to do with cargo piloting?
Goof Troop (1992)
I had to give it time, but I started to warm up to it.
Gargoyles (1994)
Good show, but Disney's obvious attempt to compete with Batman: the Animated Series.
The Lion King's Timon and Pumbaa (1995)
I like Timon and Pumbaa and I'll support anything that has to do with The Lion King. But...something about this show didn't seem right.
Quack Pack (1996)
Funny show, but less than 10 years after it premiered, it already looks and feels dated.
Pepper Ann (1997)
Well, I understand I'm not it's target audience.
Recess (1997)
I like it but I don't love it.
Hercules (1998)
Well, it was better than the movie.
The Weekenders (2000)
Not a bad show, but I don't have much use for it.
The Proud Family (2001)
Good here and there, but it has some racy undertones and unlikable characters.
House of Mouse (2001)
I like the shorts, but I hate the wraparounds.
Teamo Supremo (2002)
Disney's attempt at a Powerpuff Girls.
Brandy and Mr. Whiskers (2004)
I liked it at first, but now it seems like filler until something better comes on.
Tier 3: Worst Disney Afternoon series
Bonkers (1993)
This show started the downfall of the Disney Afternoon.
The Schnookums and Meat Funny Cartoon Show (1994)
Makes Bonkers look like Citizen Kane.
Aladdin (1994)
Loved the movie, hated the bland and generic show. It makes the characters tedious and tiresome.
The Mighty Ducks (1996)
Why was this a show again?
Disney's Doug (1996)
What the hell happened to everyone?
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (2000)
All the episodes are basically the same.
Lloyd in Space (2001)
I don't need no stinkin' outer space Recess.
The Buzz on Maggie (2005)
Flash-animation belongs on the Web, not on TV.
The Emperor's New School (2006)
I didn't even want a follow-up to the movie.
The Replacements (2006)
What type of message is this sending the kids?
Unrated:
The Wuzzles (1985)
Dave the Barbarian (2003)
American Dragon: Jake Long (2005)
You guys are welcome to make your own lists.
