While this is one of my favorite cartoons of all time, that doesn't mean that it's actually good. While most shows have very in-depth plots with well-developed characters, "Ed, Edd n Eddy" is basically the same thing over and over again with very predictable characters.
For those who have watched the show, you may have noticed this, but really there are the same 13 characters being used all the time. There are never any guest characters or anything. Also, each character is built very simply, so I will describe each one in less than 10 words:
Ed - science fiction fan, stupid yet caring, loves chickens
Edd - smart, practical, whimpy
Eddy - greedy, Napoleon-complex
Sarah - bossy, in charge of her brother
Jimmy - weak on the outside, cold-blooded inside
Johnny - gullible, talks to a piece of wood
Plank - a piece of wood
Naz - rather ditzy, flirtatious yet athletic
Rolf - foreigner, hard-working farmer
Kevin - showoff, cool guy attitude
Kanker Sisters - obsessive, tough
And there you have it.
Also, each episode has the same setup every single time: Eddy comes up with a scam to trick the kids out of their money so that he can buy jawbreakers. Nobody buys into it. Something distracts the Eds from the scam, and that becomes the main focus of the episode.
To be honest, the series is really shallow, and it would probably be really boring if it weren't for one character. Ed is the only character who makes the show worth watching because of the unique blend of comedy he brings into the show. But hey, there's no way they could have made the show without Ed; his name is in the title, for crying out loud!
Any other remarks?
