Why the heck she doesn't have her own thread? (if she does, I was blind and didn't see it XD)
Everyone seems to hate her and yet I do not know why. I think she's awesome! Poor chicken has identity crisis, and wants to be dog. What's so wrong with that? And I don't wanna hear any "SPOT SUUUUUUUUUUUCKS! TWO-TONE SHOULD BE IN HER PLACE CUZ SHE'S AWSUM!" Please. Give me one GOOD reason someone else should be in her place. Suuure, the known argument. "Show is about dogs! Why the chicken is in it?!" If you think that, let's erase all the characters that aren't dogs! THEN IT'S DOG SHOW! Let's face it. Spot, being different species, gives (metaphorically) COLOR to the group! I wouldn't prefer ANYONE else on her place.
I think she's funny and lovable character. And it's really rare that I like female characters. The chicken stays.

I think she's grow on me the past few months, Spot is really one of the funnier characters on the show. She's also the voice of common sense amongst the main pups.

Ah, Spot... Well, I suppose I too should say something nice about her.
You know, even though I used to despise her and I did have that same exact thought, "The show is about DOGS. WTF would they put a chicken as one of the main characters in a show about dogs??". But since that time, I have to say... I've opened my mind a little.
Sure, Spot got on my nerves a bit(still does sometimes, but that's not the point) and as much as I would've preferred seeing the other pups much more... I will give Spot one thing; she was funny. She provided excellent comedy relief and she added color to the group, as Mi-Star said. I honestly think she's a decent, if quite underrated, character. Besides, I still always used to like her better than some other certain characters... *cough*Lt. Pug*cough*
Yes, believe it or not, I too used to be something of a a character basher and Spot happened to be one of my targets. But guess what? I've grown up now, A LOT since then. Considering all the people that bashed one of my favorite 'Sonic SatAM' characters, Sally Acorn. Her and a certain 'Balto' character that happened to be his daughter, Aleu. They bashed her on the BaltoSource forums just cause the sequel she was in "sucked"? Say whaat?? o.O Anyway, I soon realized I was no better, so I ceased any further bashing that came from me.
I really can't stand character bashers of any caliber these days. Granted, everyone has an opinion on something and they don't have to like something that another person does, as well do they have the right to give LEGITIMATE reasons why they don't like something. That or just simply say they don't like he/she/it and end it there. No further inflammatory comment(s) necessary. But they should have enough respect for that fan, character, and creator of that character to not rag on them at every single turn.
Ahem... Sorry for the little "rant" everyone, but just getting that thought off my chest. But yes, Mi-Star, I completely agree. It was high time Spot got her own topic that didn't immediately start out with the first couple posts hating on her. Thank you, Mi-Star. *applauds and bows* :3

Yeah, Spots warmed on me a bit too. =3
True she might have some annoying points, however she has had her share of good episodes. Like "The Maltese Chicken" or "K is for Kibble" and "Spots Fairy Godchicken" And she is known to be the voice of common sense within the main pups, i guess the fact she is a chicken is meant to show the morale in the series that we shouldn't discriminate against other people who look different from us.
She is a fair and nice character and i think we should be fair on her. ;3
Though i still do feel the series did need more focus on other puppies too. I mean, pups like Two-Tone, Patch, Wizzer & Dipstick (especially the male ones there as Two-Tone did have her own episode =P) You can still have Spot in there, but at least have them talk to other pups. ;3

lol, I love it when people immitate annoying, immature people. ;D I do somewhat agree that Spot being a different species does make her unique, and it does add some color to the group. It does kind of confuse me that people hate her because she's a different species. I think those people are hypocrites because they all seem to love Roxy. Fan characters that are different species seem to get a lot of peoples' attention, but Spot is always bashed. Anyone else notice that? This is one of the reasons why "Hog Tied" is one of my least favorite episodes. I mean, sure, having Spot as a different species in the group is a nice touch, but adding in Dumpling as well is a complete overkill. Not to mention, if Dumpling were in the main pups group, she'd stick out like a sore thumb even more so than Spot! To answer Mi-Star's question, I think these are the Top 10 Reasons why so many people hate Spot: #10 - She always does all the comebacks #9 - She has spots, which Lord knows how she got them #8 - She sticks out like a sore thumb #7 - She always has to be the brain of the group #6 - She's voiced by Tara Strong (the same actress who voiced Two-Tone), and many believe that she gave Tara a sore throat #5 - She always seems to show off at everything #4 - She has a tendency to steal the show #3 - She has an annoying voice #2 - She's a chicken #1 - She's practically a Mary Sue! I hope this helps you understand why a lot of us hate Spot, Mi-Star.

Tara Strong is a professional VA, I highly doubt Spot hurt her voice. I've only heard one case of a VA hurting their voice on a character and that was Hank Azaria when he voiced Dr. Melvin Monroe on the Simpsons.
Belchic does bring up a really good point, why does Spot have spots? This is pure speculation but I figured her unseen, unmentioned father was a Dalmatian whose relationship with Cornelia fell apart and left Corny bitter. It would kind of explain a lot.

I am not the kind of person who bashes characters. I know Spot is important to the show and has some good episodes, but the show should've also focused more on the rest of the pups instead of just Lucky, Cadpig, and Rolly. After all, that show IS 101 Dalmatians, and that's what it's all about, for Pete's sake! Spot is one of the four main pups, but it would've helped more if she, Lucky, Cadpig, and Rolly communicate with more of the Dalmatian pups and let them have their share on the show for at least two episodes.

Not to mention, if Dumpling were in the main pups group, she'd stick out like a sore thumb even more so than Spot! If being different was all that was needed, then people would probably love Otis. I think I have the idea. I've already made a few references to Spot's status as a Wesley. This is different than the Scrappy. A Scrappy is a character that is well-hated, but at least the writers have the sense not to overexpose this character. A Wesley has this status because the fans do not like this character, problem is the writers grow attached to that specific character and they constantly use them. They keep using that character, pushing how great and how wonderful they are, giving them Mary Sue-like traits, shoving them in the viewers' faces trying to force them into liking this character. This NEVER works--it only makes us hate that character more. Example is Elmyra on Tiny Toon Adventures.

#8 - She sticks out like a sore thumb #7 - She always has to be the brain of the group #6 - She's voiced by Tara Strong (the same actress who voiced Two-Tone), and many believe that she gave Tara a sore throat #3 - She has an annoying voice #2 - She's a chicken #1 - She's practically a Mary Sue! I hope this helps you understand why a lot of us hate Spot, Mi-Star. Actually those are the reason I don't understand X) 8# why is this a bad thing? I mean, it's good that characters stick out! It'd be boring if they all were the same. 7# Well, someone has to, right? So why can't it be her? I understand if Cadpig had that role, but would Lucky or Rolly really fit into that role? 6# Gotta agree with Race, she's professional and I doubt it damaged Tara to do Spot's voice. And she's paid for it. I don't really understand why do you HATE SPOT because of that. 3# I like her voice X) Yeah, it quite annoying but it works on her! 2# You hate chickens? Why's that? ): 1# And that, I do not understand at all. How exatcly is she a Mary Sue? Because she's not a sweet heart? Or because people dislike her? That surely makes her mary sue. Yeah, I agree that some of the background pups should have gotten some screentime, but then again, the show was for kids. Kids usually love the maincharacters. They're good enough for them.

Spot indeed is a funny character, she can really make me laugh. I do not hate her There are some much more annoying characters, like Lt Pug and Cornelia A question for the ones who want to eliminate Spot: Would you also like to eliminate Captain, Sgt Tibs, the cows, Scorch, Waddlesworth...? and even the humans?

couldn't Roger and Anita sub in one of the other 96 pups for the missing pups Cruella had pupnapped to beat Vandella?

They needed an entry in a hurry, they only brought Spot and the pups and the pups were locked in a van. They didn't have time to go get another dog, who wouldn't have been trained anyway, so Spot was the only option, not to mention she was more qualified at dog show etiquette than the pups. As Lucky put it, "the best dog won."
Why Roger and Anita focused so much on Lucky (black ears not good in dog breeding), Rolly (overwight) and Cadpig (slightly deformed) when none of them met the competitive standards for dog show dalmatian, when they must have had better potential entries is the real question.
