He won his second Nationwide Series race. He's doing pretty well for a rookie. I think he's got rookie of the year locked up, considering how poorly Scott Speed has been doing.

I dunno, the rumors are already starting that Lagano could be headed back to the Busch series for more practice. In a car that could win races with even a semi-talented Cup driver, Joey's JUST barely in the top-35 in points. He's got the best equipment but he's not producing any results with it and the rumor mill is starting to swirl because of it. Rumors are circulating that Gibbs may switch out Lagano for another driver (the name that came up is Martin Truex Jr if he leaves the sponsor-troubled Earnhardt-Ganassi team)
As for RotY, unless he is removed from the seat Lagano's a lock. His only competition is the struggling Scott Speed and the part-time former CART driver Max Papis, neither of whom has done much this season. BUT the best rookie this year appears to be the ineligible for RotY Marcos Ambrose. That Aussie is awesome!

Joey proved yesterday that he has the talent, the trouble is that he was bascially thrown to the wolves by Gibbs putting him in the 20 so soon.Lagano should be running the full Nationwide schedule this year and a few select Cup races,THAN make the big step up.But what's done is done I guess.

I'm not sure but even if Lagano's eventually out of the #20, which may be unlikely given that Home Depot "seems" to be big on Lagano, that's not the end of his tenure in Cup with Gibbs. Joe's also got his #02 Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota which will run two races later this season but does not have a driver named yet
