How cool was that Montreal Busch race? Finally NASCAR got to use the Goodyear rain tires. That was so awesome even though they were driving at little more than highway speed

Seeing Nascar race in the rain was ok,but it wasn't well organized.
Nascar should do more testing with this idea before doing it again.

I don't think they test for it, NASCAR's policy only allows for racing in the rain under one circumstance... Road course race that cannot be rescheduled
Since Montreal city policy only allows the Gilles Villeneuve circuit to be used two weekends a year (One for NASCAR, one for F1), the racetrack is unusable the rest of the year.
NASCAR opts not to use them even for other road races like Sonoma and Watkins Glen, with the demise of the Mexico race only the Busch race in Montreal would feature them.
The rain tires only other competitive use was practice and qualifing for the 1997 Suzuka Thunder Special in Japan, another case where the race could not be rescheduled.

They showed some clips from Suzuka today in the prerace show, still rain tires could be a good alternative to canceling a race.
They wouldn't work on oval tracks however.
