1995 World Rally Champion Colin McRae is dead tonight at the age of 39.
This is hard for me to post. Ever since I discovered how much fun it is to watch Rally racing (mostly on Speed Channel), Colin has been an absolute favorite of mine. Sure, I was disappointed when he defected from Ford to Citroen in 2003 but he was still a great driver. I was actually quite a bit disappointed when he lost the gold medal in the 1st ever X-Games rally race in 2006.
This hurts. All those times you watch race car drivers take those wicked crashes (Rally ones especially) and get out unhurt, sometimes you forget that these guys are just normal people. This accident is also way too similar to the one that killed NASCAR driver Davey Allison in 1993. This is a sad day for the McRae family, England, Rallying, and Racefans world wide...

Wow, this news took me by surprise. I've watched Colin race a few times and I have played some of his rally games for the PS2. R.I.P
